Food 3 stars. The fish tacos were just ok. For haddock it was a bit "fishy". The queso dip was great. My wife had beef float as and they were better than my tacos. Service 5 stars. Cali was attentive. Food came out quickly. Ambiance 5 stars. We sat out in the deck. There was a guitar player rocking out, Carlos Santana style. Full bar. Docks for boats. Nice place. Other than a couple of cafés, all Chetek really has to offer is bar and grill food so this is a bit of a breath of fresh air

Best place on the Chetek Chain of Lakes. Authentic Mexican food, excellent American options and great kids menu.

Enchilada Dinner!

Pokegama has finally brought Mexican Cuisine to Chetek! What better way to spend a warm summer night than parking the boat and sipping margaritas on their new expanded patio overlooking Pokegama lake? We have been visiting since they opened and the food and service gets better every single time. Friendly staff greet and seat you and give you delicious warm chips and salsa. Drinks come quick from the extensive bar including some top tier tequilas and interesting margaritas. Food selection is typical Mexican fare with a few twists. Everything we have tried is delicious and generous portions. They also do Friday fish fry (Wisconsin tradition) and burgers on Saturdays for the gringos. Can't say how great it is to have something in Chetek besides the typical bar food nearly every other place offers.

Buffalo Chicken wrap with the Bleu Cheese I can't eat.

DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES. I was really excited to see a restaurant in this location again, but I don't think i'll be coming back at all. We were a walk in table of nine, but we're okay with being split into two separate tables or 4 and 5. There were 4 Hostesses. None of them new what was going on and they seemed to ignore the fact that we were willing to be split up. We had to tell them 3 times it was ok to split us up. The server comes over, she's very nice! We order appetizers and meals. The appetizers were delicious, gigantic onion rings, but very salty batter. Then comes the dinner. When I ordered I wanted the Buffalo chicken wrap. I very specifically said that I could not eat bleu cheese because it will make me sick before leaving the building. The server assured me she will let the kitchen know. I ask for a side of ranch. Food comes very slowly but it was a friday night so that's a little expected. I get my wrap and eat half of it. I didn't see any bleu cheese so I dumped some ranch into it and ate it. I go to pick up the second half and behind a piece of chicken I see what I think is bleu cheese. I open up he wrap and chunks and chunks of bleu cheese come out. The server is nowhere to be found until everyone at my table is done eating and by then my stomach is flip flopping because there was bleu cheese in my food and do in fact get sick before leaving the restaurant. I showed the server the bleu cheese and asked her to show the kitchen and told her I didn't want anything else because it will make me sick. The kicker? They didn't even take the messed up food off the bill. I'm going to be sick the rest of the night and I'm not giving this place a second chance. Not worth the risk. Edit: I was also informed that the hostesses were also talking shit about us while we were being seated. No thanks.

Food was fair but did not meet price expectations. Average dish was around $20. Most likely would not return!!

La Autentica - Salad from complementary salad bar

Food: This is probably the best Mexican around. I ordered…read morethe chimichanga and it exceeded all my expectations. I would highly recommend, especially because it comes with rice and beans. The beef inside tasted very authentic, not to mention delicious. my Sister also got the burrito and enjoyed it a lot. It was very big. The complementary chips and salsa are also a highlight because it's the only salsa I actually like. They also have a small complementary topping and dip bar where you try all kinds of different salsas and other dips and also grab lettuce and limes for you entrée. Over all: food is 9/10 Service: As soon as we walked in a waitress came up to us and seated us. We did not have to wait. She asked us what we wanted to drink. We both got water, but it had lemons in it so it felt fancy. We got our drinks and we're able to order fairly quickly. After we ordered our meal also came very quickly. Our server was very nice and smiley and we got checked on a few times. (Once when we went here our server had this really cool mustache and it honestly just made the whole experience better.) over all: service 9/10 Ambience: The environment is very nice, like if you dress up fancy, you wouldn't feel out of place but you also feel it wouldn't feel out of place if you dressed casual. It doesn't feel cramped but it also isn't overly big. They have lights on the ceiling that moved to the beat of the music that's quietly plain, which is very neat. The fake plants on top of the lights dangling down at a very neat effect. Makes me feel like I'm in Mexico! Over all: 9/10 Over all: Would highly recommend La Authentica (especially the chimichangas) whether your dining alone on a date or as a family

We've been coming here on and off over the many years we've been visiting the Chetek area. We come…read morehere for the breakfast only, and our choice is the Mary's Supreme. Perfect hashbrowns topped with cheese and more than enough to fill you up. If you order pancakes--all you will need is one I'll betcha! We cut ours in half and folded it over and at that point it was about an inch and a half high. Boy does it soak up the syrup--and it's so light and fluffy! The waitress is always ready for refilling your coffee along with the usual good service. It was funny over hearing her say that she hates the smell of coffee because she's around it all day long and doesn't drink a drop off that stuff. I'm not a coffee connoisseur, but I found it just right. I'm always intrigued by the map of the Chetek chain of lakes painted on the ceiling--it's been there since 1983. I finally figured out that the perspective and angle I need is as if I was hovering over the building and looking down on a transparent ceiling. Then North is where it should be, with Prairie Lake off to the left and West, while Pokegama is over to the right and East of town. Go for the good food and try not to make yourself dizzy looking at the ceiling!

On our second day in Chetek we went out in search of breakfast and our friends who have been coming…read morehere for years recommended Mary's Cafe & Pub. And so, we ended up here and we're immediately seated! Alyssa took our drink orders, Coffee all around, while we studied the menu and the specials board! My wife decided to get the morning special: 2 Eggs, Sausage Patties, and Toast for $5.50; a couple of us ordered the Bacon Cheddar Omelette with Hash Browns and Toast and added Onions and Cheese to the Hash Browns,; and one ordered Strawberry Pancakes! Alyssa made sure our coffee was filled. As we were finishing up they wrote the lunch specials on the board and we were tempted to just stay on for lunch. Everything was delicious and large portions at a reasonable price. We even were able to say hi to Mary! Definitely check this place out!

We started out by ordering the queso, guacamole and calamari for appetizers. All 3 were very good! I order a skinny margarita to start with and it was good but came in a small glass. I wish it came in a tall glass just like the regular margarita did. The regular margarita was very good as well. You have the option of salt or tajin on the rim. I special ordered the sprimp fajitas as they didn't just have shrimp as an option. Thankfully they were still able to accommodate my request because the fajitas were delicious!! You get rice and beans on the side & an option of guac or sour cream as a topping. You also get a choice of flour or corn tortillas. You definitely get your bang for your buck with this entree. The chef use to be the same chef as Manny's in Eau Claire so all the food was delicious. They have to many fresh seafood options which I loved. Overall I'd definitely come back!!
