Nice spot for a healthy lunch! I was pleasantly surprised by the environment inside the restaurant! Being in the LA fitness shopping center I wasn't expecting much! I tried the small poke bowl which comes with two proteins- I got tofu and avocado as my proteins. You then pick your base (I chose white rice) and any vegetables. The tofu was just a normal block of unseasoned tofu. I feel they could step up their tofu game by seasoning or purchasing the seasoned kind to serve! The bowl was filling despite being a "small"! This was the first poke place I ever went to. I hadn't been there since I moved out of my mom's house, but came back to visit after a few years away. I was so happy to see that the quality of this place holds up! This was and is my favorite poke spot, and is the standard to which I hold other poke restaurants I visit. I love their selection of ingredients- including the availability of fruit like pineapple and mango. I also love how reasonable the price is. The portions they give are large, and they don't nitpick upcharges like a lot of other places do. The customer service was also great. This isn't normally something I point out in reviews, as my focus for restaurants is almost exclusively on the quality of their food, but Poke Fresh just seems to go the extra mile for customers in little ways. They're super willing to accommodate requests and very friendly. I was also excited to see that they're now offering boba tea! A lot of the boba I see in non boba-focused establishments is pretty hit-or-miss. I got the crazy fruit tea with popping pearls- sweet and fruity like I was looking for. I found this place right before or early on in the pandemic after looking for a poke place near our new house. From my first visit, I was very impressed and excited to find a place that I liked. I had tried a few others nearby that weren't bad but nothing special. Poke Fresh was delicious - everything tasted fresh - and I liked how they mixed everything together (something that my old poke place did not do well). What surprised me even more was what happened on my subsequent visits. The staff remembered my order and would chat with me as if I had been coming here for years. Cut to three years later and this still applies! I come here a few times a month and every time they are very welcoming - they recognize me, make my order, and remember conversations we've had before. When my husband picks up poke for me, he just tells them it's for me and they make my order just as I like it! oI've been so happy with finding this place and have recommended it to all my friends that like poke. For reference, my usual order is a medium poke bowl with white rice, half raw tuna, and half spicy tuna, green and red onions, cilantro, carrots, ponzu and oozu sauce, and topped with sesame seeds. I know this isn't the only one of its kind, but it is the only one in the Alpharetta, Metro Atlanta area. It's just like a chipotle-style line. Fast & warm service with a smile Food: We tried both the the poke bowl and the pokerrito. I got the poke bowl with fresh salmon and spicy tuna, and my husband tried their fresh salmon pokerrito. The pokerrito was absolutely beautiful and filling. The line of cream cheese in there was a nice touch. He added probably all the vegetables available and it was very good!! He only offered me one bite, and the next thing I knew, it was gone. I mean really? He must've really liked it, haha. In my salmon poke bowl, I added red onions, green onions, jalapenos, and masago. My sauces were the ponzu and spicy mayo, both delicious. I topped everything off with dried seaweed, tempura crunch, sesame seeds, crispy onions, and crispy garlic. Was it too much? Heck no! I finished every single bite, AND saw my husband sneak a few bites too. We may not be back! We come here often but tonight may be the last. First the guy assembling our bowls was non-communicative and never made eye contact while we ordered our bowls. The salad mix was low as we ordered, and we've had to pick out pieces from our bowls that were wilted or brown. Edamame is one of my favorite things in a salad or a bowl, but they passed off Lima beans as edamame. I thought they looked lighter in color, but when I asked the guy preparing my bowl about them he said it was edamame. Nope! Picked them all out after we discovered it when we took our bowls to go. I've had to drive to Sandy Springs to get my fix and now I don't have to. :) This poke bar is very similar to my experiences at other poke places, as in the Chipotle or Subway style ordering with the finished product at the end. They have a ton of things to make your bowl or burrito fully satisfying to your palate. I'm such a bowl fan these days. So you can start with a base, such as brown or white rice, and then add on as you like. Plenty of proteins to choose from including crab meat, smoked squid, spicy tuna, salmon, octopus, albacore tuna, scallops, tofu, and chicken. Then you can add the toppings like green onion, cucumber, red onion, sweet corn, cilantro, kale, masago, edamame, jalapeno, avocado, tamago, wasabi, pickled ginger, seaweed salad. Spicy salmon and avocado are an extra fee. The finished product was a bowel of deliciousness. I added almost every topping possible, and loved the spicy mayo they had there. I had poke before at a different location but my wife was trying it for the first time. She was hesitant at first to try poke but when she had that first bite she was blown away. I have found a poke place that I am not to fond of. First and foremost, it is so hard to find this place. It is in the back near LA Fitness and off to the side. Pretty hard to miss if you're not familiar with this area. The restaurant was empty upon my arrival with only another group eating in. The prices are normal; (2 scoops $8.99) however, the bowls are smaller than other poke places. Also, they don't put enough food in your bowl. If I spend $9 on food; I want $9 worth of food! I literally felt like I was eating an appetizer. My friend got the 3 scoop bowl and she got less than me! She wasn't to impressed either. I got the 50/50 with rice and salad. The rice was kinda dry. The Hawaiian sauce was good and I mixed it with the spicy mayo. I've been looking forward to trying this place and I wish I would have kept daydreaming about it. Such a disappointment. Beyond food, the place is the normal quick service style spot and super casual. It's hard to find, but once you do... you may be glad it isn't out on the main street.... then everyone would find it. My new favorite lunch place! Filling, fresh lunch for just under $10 is hard to come by on Windward. Poké Fresh, as others have mentioned, is the sushi equivalent of Chipotle. You pick a base, some proteins, and toppings. You can get a bowl or a Pokerrito (think burrito with nori instead of tortilla). The cost is based on the amount of protein, measured in scoops (golf-ball sized). You can get a small (2 scoops of protein) on your choice of base (white rice, brown rice, salad or some combination of the 3), with lots of fresh (mostly veggie) toppings and sauces for only $8.99. I like that I can feel sated for that amount, not so full as to drag through my afternoon work. The ingredients have always been fresh, especially the fish and shredded veggies. The staff is pleasant, if somewhat soft-spoken. Only con would be that I'd prefer the menu options to stay displayed on the screens behind the assembly line, rather than rotating so quickly, especially for the sauce options, since that's what always trips me up. read more

Poke Fresh, located in the LA Fitness parking lot on Windward Parkway, is totally worth a visit. Though it's increasingly prevalent ITP, the poke bowl trend hasn't really hit Alpharetta yet. It's definitely one food missing from the area, and I for one was really excited to see a new spot open up right down the street from my office. Everything is custom built for you, by you (think Willy's or Moe's, except seafood) so you can customize as much or as little as you like. When you arrive at Poke Fresh, you'll enter the line along the left wall and begin your order, which starts with the hardest part: do you want a poke bowl or a poke burrito? Once you've settled that, then you start to build your meal. What do you want for a base? Lettuce, rice, tortilla chips? The options are plentiful! Proteins come next, with up to three varieties available. I opted for (slightly firm) tofu, shrimp, and ahi tuna, but other options included spicy tuna, crab meat, smoked squid, albacore tuna, scallops, chicken, octopus and salmon. Some items are raw and others are cooked; the staff can guide you if you need a little assistance choosing. Everything was super fresh-looking and served very cold. Then, pick your toppings and your sauces. Take a look at my pics for today's offerings. I got a little bit of everything (almost). They'll toss the bowl for you in one (or more) of the sauces, or you can have it served with sauce alongside - again, completely up to you! Fountain drinks are available, as is a cooler of La Croixs and Perriers, etc. They even have boxed coconut water! We've been to several other poke places in the area, and while there are some that offer some variety (such as sushi and grilled food), this place gets the one this vital to any poke restaurant.... FRESH seafood. It's so hard to find places that know what fresh fish means. The smell, taste, feel are always perfect, along with all the other ingredients (and they have been rice!). We've had various bowls and pokerritos what are very generous portions. You can build your own bowl and burrito with 20+ ingredient and several sauces (wasabi and spicy mayo are my favorites). I'm a huge fan of poke but this was not my favorite. There's so many new poke restaurants but this was close to my work so it was most convenient at the time. The place was super clean and the workers were nice. All poke places are pretty similar. They have a base: brown rice, white rice, and springs. Second, the size determines how much protein goes in your bowl. Lastly, you can add an assortment of unlimited toppings. This is where I was quite disappointed. When I asked for toppings, I received VERY little of each. Something like 3 to 4 carrot shreds, 3 slivers of onions, and so on. The food itself was tasty, but they don't give you nearly enough versus other Poke places I've been too. read more

This is a relative review only in the sense that I am comparing Poke Bowl restaurants. On its own, Poke Fresh is clearly a 4 star place with solid food. Poke Fresh makes good Poke bowls and provides a more or less healthy alternative (depending upon how much sauce you add) for lunch and dinner - and as the second best Poke Bowl place in the neighborhood, it is a good choice. Hands down, if you are reading this, Poke and Sushi, a short drive away is better, but if you need a quick place near 400, this is a decent bet. The restaurant is more or less like most other Poke Bowl places in that they have a base (rice or salad), proteins (fish) and toppings (edamame, masago, various vegis, etc.). Poke Fresh takes the standard Poke Bowl approach. Add everything except for the base together, mix it with dressing/sauce and put that all into a bowl. To be honest, there is little to differentiate this Poke Fresh location from most other Poke Bowl clones (with the exception of Poke and Sushi), but the product is consistent and good. A few additional notes. This Poke Fresh can be hard to find at first. It is way back, two strip malls deep near the big gym. It is also closed on Sundays... which is how I originally discovered Poke and Sushi. Did I mention that Poke and Sushi as amazingly better? Lol.
