I love grabbing a regular sized soy joy over quinoa, it's amazing. Delicious, nutritious and they even have a customer reward system where you get a stamp for every bowl you buy and the tenth is for free! Yay! Kind of makes up for what I think is a pretty pricey grab and go lunch. The ambiance is kind of airy, breezy, casual and very "now". It seems like a nice place to actually sit, eat and catch up with loved ones but I am perpetually guilty of grabbing a takeaway. Oops. As for the bowls, I love their soy joy but am determined to some day actually build my own bowl as they have loads of other great, fresh ingredients. Also, I am always impressed by the generous amount of soy chunks and really everything in the bowl. I believe this to be equally generous in the bowls that actually contain fish so it doesn't feel like it's not worth the amount you're shelling out for it. I just really love poké perfect and come here every chance I get.

I always eat at SLA in Amsterdam, but I decided to go while in Utrecht, too…read more The friendly staff definitely make this location the best! I ordered the Mackerel salad with several substitutions for grains and I never felt rushed or like I was being difficult. The location is comfortable and cozy inside. I've had MANY of the signature and seasonal SLA salads over my trips to the Netherlands and the mackerel is the BEST I've ever had. The portion of protein was generous and the wasabi watercress lemon dressing was incredible. I always miss SLA when I am back in America, but now it'll be much harder after having had this delicious salad!

Thought I had reviewed SLA Voorstraat already, but here goes…read more.. The food at SLA is great and the hummus baby and mummy approved. Drinks are a bit limited, but not as limited as the space. In an already small space I don't think I'd ever build a huge bar that takes up at leastt half of wat very little space you have. Such a shame because it is great food. Luckily they've now opened SLA Nachtegaalstraat which is a much nicer, friendlier space. I don't usually feel comfortable coming to SLA Voorstraat because the servers seem a bit standoff-ish and whenever I have the pram with me it's pretty impossible to maneuver; getting to the toilet in the back is hell... Overall the vibe here isn't very welcoming, in fact it's quite cold so I definitely recommend walking a bit further towards the much more friendly and open SLA Nachtegaalstraat. Nachtegaalstraat is a great home base for anyone.

This restaurant is pretty massive, looks really nice, and even offers some nice views of the water from one side of the restaurant. The menu? It's got you covered with all the noodle dishes your heart desires as well as a ton of drinks and sides to go with them. I was feeling pretty hungry so I decided to go with the bulgogi teppanyaki so I could get a nice mixture of meat, noodles, and vegetables. The food didn't take too long to come out and we both agreed our food was alright. Nothing in my bowl had anything stand out about it and the best I could do is give it a thumbs up and say that nothing was and it was solid enough. Overall, Wagamama was solid for train station food and I have no real complaints about the place. The food was decent, the place itself looked nice, and the staff was friendly as well. This place is a safe bet.

The menu was a bit more limited than three years ago, but still great. Location is key. I wish the music wasn't so loud, but that's just me, I don't think it was too noisy, but it's not an intimate place. I'm glad this place is still open in this wonderful neighborhood. If you want a chic and trendy ambiance and a lot of food for lunchtime, I'd recommend going here…read more However, if you're a foodie who doesn't care about service or environment, then this is probably not the place for you. Their lunch two-course menu is only 16 euros and gets you four small plates. You pick two small plates for the appetizer and two small plate for the main course. However, the "small" plates for the main course are massive and more than enough food than you need for lunch. For the appetizer, I can the lamb tartare. It was covered in sauce and mixed with so many ingredients I couldn't discern the taste of the lamb or even if it was raw or not. I would NOT recommend this. However, I could see a Dutch person's palate being more accustomed to this because of the flavors (I'm American). I also got the UMAMI duck. The duck was cooked well, and it was nice to have seaweed salad, but it didn't wow me. My husband got the mackerel and UMAMI duck and enjoyed how fresh the mackerel was. For the lunch, I got black bean beef tenderloin. The tenderloin is extremely tender and juicy, but the sauce is ladened with salt and a bit much. Luckily, it comes with rice and noodles to balance the flavor out. I would've loved this more if I was high... should've gotten high. I also got the pork belly, which was good. My husband also got the pork belly, but instead, got the halibut. The halibut was a great choice as they cooked it to flaky perfection. It came with a puree on the side that went with it all, but they also added mint gel, which tasted like toothpaste. Overall, as an Asian foodie fanatic, this Asian with a French twist menu was not for me. It is more for the Dutch tongue as things are saltier and saucier. The food is of good quality, and the value is off the charts as you get a lot of food with great service, but giving this 5 stars is really stretching it. Perhaps, it's because I went for lunch? (Two stars is for the food itself; three is for the service)

Two people were serving two parties in the entire dining room and the slowness and carelessness with which they helped us was embarrassing to the establishment. When we asked for water they didn't bring any and when we went to the bar to ask again, they said it had only been five minutes since we asked with significant attitude and condescension, as if water is an unreasonable request to fulfill given the circumstances. But now I understand why the restaurant was empty. Meanwhile, my bowl was merely a bed of romaine with a measly three pieces of eggplant.
