There are certainly better Pilates studios in the Peninsula, so take your time and research them if you want to find the best value and instruction for your money. My experience at Poised was, to be generous, fair: their customer service is excellent, towels are provided, and the facilities are clean, well-kept, and nicely lit. My greatest criticism lies in their instruction and class size. They allow up to six people per session, and the mats and machines are so closely packed into the workout room that one has to position oneself strategically so as not to bump or hit one another. The instruction is mediocre at best, with little attention paid to individuals and very limited feedback conveyed. At no time did the instructor come around to make adjustments to my core when I was performing the exercises. Cues were far too technical, especially when participants generally do not have a background in anatomy.
The price per group class runs between $30-$40 depending on the quantity of sessions purchased. For this sum, one is supposed to spend thirty minutes on the mat and thirty minutes on the reformer/tower. Oftentimes, only about twenty minutes was dedicated to apparatus work, which is far too little time when looking at the cost of each session. This is, far and away, the most costly studio in the area, and when considering how packed the classes can be, how limited the instruction is, and how little time is spent on the equipment, Poised is not the best value for one's money -- not by a long shot.
If you're looking for top notch customer service, then this s your place, but if you desire quality, hands-on Pilates instruction (which is highly recommended so as not to sustain injury and to maximize one's exercise experience), look for other options in the area. read more
