It's typically semi-full of regulars and locals, often attracting a more senior crowd. However it's nice for a change to go somewhere calm and pleasant where there's no lines. Truly Scrumptious is also a nice spot for small groups. The prices are excellent and quite good value. My brunch recommendation is the breakky roll. It's delicious, especially that tomato relish they use, and it's also super cheap ($9.50). Coffee is Grinders and there's usually daily muffins and other baked goods. Truly Scrumptious is a pleasant suburban cafe.

They do breakfast and lunch and I guarantee you will enjoy whatever you order. Their muffins are absolutely divine...they come in many favors that vary from day to day. But get in early, they often disappear fast. Although today I was still able to get a blueberry and banana muffin at lunchtime. They do delicious breakfasts, great Caesar salad and other salads, and fantastic specials. Every meal I've ever had there has been spot on!

Back Black Espresso Bar was once a house that has been turned into a cafe. You can be seated one of three rooms, or outside. Sitting in one of the front two rooms gives a feeling of visiting a friend's home, a posh friend who has a cook and staff, that is. I've been here a few times for breakfast and have a favourite in 'Getting Figgy with it': sourdough toast topped with fig chutney, Meredith Farm Goats feta and a generous serving of bacon. A great mix of sweet, salty and the unmistakable tang of goats cheese for a well balanced and very filling meal. A close 2nd favourite is the french toast which can come plain, with maple and bacon or a sweet offering of lemon curd, edible flowers and icecream. The latter I am yet to try but my dining companion assured me it was pretty amazing. The coffee is excellent - I'm now a straight-up espresso drinker, no milk or sugar to spoil the purity of the pour - and I can say this is some of the best coffee I've had. Sorry that it's not on commute route otherwise I'd be a daily visitor.

The food offering was quite poor and disappointing, not only in the quantity of food offered (you would be lucky if you received three separate servings) but also in the taste, texture and temperature of the food. It wasn't anything spectacular, special or fancy; however I still love the sheer elegance of the building and this establishment, as well as the welcoming and inviting feel from the staff. No regrets. Its a beautiful establishment, and I am looking forward to attending another function here some other time.

It's "help yourself" to utensils, spoons and forks as well as chopsticks. The waitress offered us constant top ups of chilled water and free jugs of warm, sweet chrysanthemum tea. YUM! I went crazy ordering a main (the spare ribs), entree (hot and sour soup) and two huge drinks (ribeena and lemonade and a chilled mix of coffee and milk tea) and trying everyone else meals as well. Also, the serving sizes were very generous. Tragically because of this, none of us could manage to visit the desert house upstairs!
