To Point Blank Range in the Mooresville NC location I'm very disappointed in the service that was provided to me. I went to point blank range for the purpose of protecting my wife and myself after we had breakins at our apartment building. Between my wife and I we have taken 3 handgun lessons costing $450.00. I then decided to buy a shotgun for protection because we are not residents and could not qualify for a handgun. During my purchase I was advised that the MP 15 was a good choice over the shot gun. I purchased the MP 15 and signed up for the AR class to get familiar with the rifle. During the shooting part of the class my MP 15 jammed 3 times with only a box of 20 rounds, with Mike the instructor to verify. Other students went through boxes without a jam. I went back the next day and spoke to a new instructor who tested the gun. Again with that instructor the gun jammed. I was told to leave the rifle and come back at 1pm. At 1pm i returned and was told that the rifle was fired and it was ok. I then took it to the range and it jammed again. This gun was only fired inside your range and malfunctioned many times. I asked for a credit for the rifle to make a new purchase and spend all the money in your store. That request was denied. I was told the rifle would be sent to Smith and Wesson and would not be returned to me for 2-3 weeks. All together I have spent over $1500 in your place in the past two week. This process has made a very poor buying experience for me. The whole purpose of me buying a gun for protection has been delayed for many weeks because of a rifle i bought brand new that was defective right out of the box. I would hope that someone in authority would reverse the decision to refund my money so I could purchase another rifle and continue to be a loyal customer. I stopped by this weekend with my wife and kids to see what all the fuss was about. I have to say, I was impressed! My experience was the complete opposite of Kyle's. I was greeted by at least 4 employees as I walked around the spacious retail floor. They were courteous and friendly but not high pressure. The pro shop was very well laid out and they had a great selection of tactical gear, clothing, ammo and accessories. I spent a good amount of time at the display cabinets around the gun area looking at the inventory of handguns. I even fingered a few of them and the staff I dealt with were knowledgeable and friendly. They asked the right questions and gave the right answers. My wife is not big into shooting but she was impressed with the ladies area of the store. They had a special section just for ladies with handguns and accessories. Very nice touch and one that definitely increased my wife's interest in shooting. The range part is in the back and you can see it through the many windows in the viewing area. They were busy installed the range equipment and the range master told me they expect it to be operational any day now! I will be back and will be sure to post my review of the range. Good range, for being indoors.. Staff seems knowledgeable, they are very friendly, and pretty much stay out of your way while shooting.. My only gripe is that they dont have enough tables for rifle shooting. The range prices are reasonable (17.00/day). They did some work on my Glock, pertaining to a recall. They only charged me 20.00 for the work, but threw in a range pass for test firing their work. I continue to go back without issue.. Although, I do find their prices a bit high, but I have also seen brand new AR's for under 1000.00.. Ammo prices are pretty much going rate with what the industry prices are (given the current political situations). Their training classes are WAY overpriced, I probably wouldn't attend any training there, but the range is great. If their rifle bays are booked and they have an open pistol bay, then they will let you shoot rifles in it. Having gone to both Point Blank, and The Range at Lake Norman. I will, hands down, choose point blank.. Too bad they dont have long distance shooting areas.. read more

The gun shop and the range are clean and very well kept up. The retail store has most anything you would need and if not, they are always willing to order it for you. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and willing to go the extra step to make sure that you are taken care of!!! I have a membership and shoot on a daily basis and have not had one bad experience. I have taken a two hour lesson from Tony and I have scheduled three more. Tony is a very good instructor and it seams that he has unlimited knowledge. As for the traffic, there's no place that you can go of hwy 150 without traffic and anyone that lives in the Lake Norman area visits some type of business whether it's retail, quick stop gas station, restaurant or someplace else. Drove an hour and a half to use their range. They had a specific pistol I wanted to try that no other range within two hours of me offered. I did my research and knew before driving that not only did they have the pistol I wanted to try most, they also rent pistols at a single price for all guns in the same caliber. This meant I was able to not only shoot the specific .45 I drove to try, I was able to trade it out for five other pistols during the session without paying additional rental fees. I've never been to another range that took this approach. That alone will get me to recommend Point Blank to friends. Additionally, they are very safety conscious, and I saw multiple employees make an effort to engage the shooters and customers in conversation. Place was clean and comfortable. read more

I don't expect this range to last. Brand new facility and a very spacious front sales floor is very nice, but their range is weeks from being operational. Even though there were about 8 employees with nothing to do, it took about 20min before anybody asked me if I needed any help. The kid behind the gun counter had no idea that there was a difference between Springfield XD and XDm. I had to show him. I asked to see a 9mm, he gave me a .40! he thought all the Glocks in the case were Gen 4s. Not the case, only about a third of them were, it even said so on the tags! They allowed a customer to unholster his LOADED gun and show it off to the employees. Their prices were way over priced! They wanted over $1300 for a gun I paid $800 for two years ago. read more

I attended a course on basic firearm safety with Jim Bonanno. The course was thorough and informative. I highly recommend it for anyone who has limited knowledge or who seek to increase their comfortability. I have also taken a private lesson with Jim and he is amazing. The knowledge he has and the safety protocol that he instills and practices constantly put me at ease and has made me more confident when handling a firearm. I will continue with the lessons and highly recomment Jim to anyone who is interested in learning more or in honing in their skills. read more

Disagree with previous review 1) very friendly staff, shoot with my 10 yr old and they are very nice to him 2) have bought three guns this year, as good as internet prices once you figure in paying FFL, and PB offers free range pass with purchase, just about even and local guy to go back to 3) very safety conscious 4) nice facilities, have never waited and go once or twice in a weekend, 5) ammo is about $2/box more than Wal-Mart for 9mm/.38 read more

I had a similar experience when they first opened as they were trying to work out the glitches with their system. I have NEVER been asked to leave though. I am a regular customer and have always found their staff to be very knowledgeable and friendly. I have taken my CCW class there and purchased a pistol. All the employees are certified NRA instructors. The prices are comparable to other similar facilities in the area. I certainly feel I have gotten excellent value for my money. I took my husband here for his birthday. It was a hit!! They had a wide variety of guns for sale and rent. I can't say if prices were high or low because I'm not in to that kind of hobby. This range is the best in the Charlotte area and well worth the drive to Mooresville. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeble. The selection of rental guns is huge and they even rent machine guns! Large selection of handguns and rifles. Lots of qualified instructors if you want individual or group instruction. Very well laid out and concern for safety is a priority. I have not tried the retail part of the store but seems well stocked. Personnel are very friendly and knowledgable. Ventilation is great.
