The day before, a member of the company met me at the storage unit, and said I needed to do nothing. The next day, a 3-man team showed up within 15 minutes of the expected time, and within 2 hours everything was loaded onto the truck. Once the truck was weighed, I got a call that the move would cost me $700 less -- when does that happen? Eight days later, the truck, and the same crew arrived on a Saturday at 7:59 AM, one minute earlier than I had been told two days before. And within 3 hours everything was unloaded, a desk re-assembled, and many boxes of books and bookcases carried up stairs to the second floor. Never a complaining word; the team just did their job. I should mention that even the pins for the bookcases were removed and wrapped. Nothing was lost. I cannot recommend this company more highly -- and they are not restricted to the South Hills of Pittsburgh despite their name. They move nationwide. My previous move was an absolute horror story - this move was flawless. This is a picture of my dream team: Alex, John, and Chris. Very grateful - thanks to all the staff at South Hills Moving. rkk

Local company with a tight-knit crew…read more Stumpf just helped me move my household items (including a grand piano) from Pittsburgh to Annapolis, MD. I chose them for several reasons: 1. They are experienced piano movers. 2. Their price is reasonable compared to other national services. 3. Their reviews looked good, and I know I can trust those reviews because they are likely about the people who will actually move my stuff, not some random crew. Overall, I am happy with the service. The estimate was accurate. The packing was efficient and professional. It took them about 6 hours to pack up about ten rooms' worth of stuff, and another 4 hours the next day to load the truck. They stored my stuff for me for two weeks while I waited for the new house. Then they arrived at the new place at 8am as they promised and unloaded everything and set up the piano. Throughout all this chaos, the only casualty was a (not particularly nice) ice tea pitcher. I was happy with their service and would recommend them without hesitation.

I have used Gardner Moving a couple of times--first for a small move from one apartment to another apartment in the same building and then for a medium-sized move from the downtown city to the North Hills. I appreciated that Gardner Moving had convenient dates available for me, that they gave me an estimate within one day, that the employees spoke courteously with me, that the final price was below the estimate and was reasonable, and that none of my belongings were damaged. They were significantly easier to work with than a different moving company that I had previously used.

From beginning to end, I was impressed with their quality of service. We were only scheduling a few days out and within a day or two, they had someone at my house to give me a detailed estimate on moving our belongings. While they weren't the cheapest quote we got, they were the most responsive and thorough. The move itself was fabulous. They showed up with a crew and efficiently moved all of our belongings down multiple flights of stairs and into our new house across town. Though we had lots of fragile or vintage items, everything arrived in perfect condition. And they moved so quickly that our costs came in lower than the estimate. Overall, I would highly recommend Gardner to anybody and will use them if I ever move again.

DO NOT GIVE A PENNY TO THIS COMPANY!! I have used movers from Uhaul website for my last 5 moves, in…read morePA as well as in CA, and this was the only time, I gave the moving company a generous 1 star. Because I had to load in and unload on 2 separate days, Chad sent 2 different crews, one worse than the other. LOAD IN CREW (Not great): The load in crew came 2 hours late (blaming it on scheduling), without dolly, straps, or any tools (they borrowed an L key from my tool kit). During our initial conversation, I asked Chad if I need to rent a dolly, straps, etc. He said just furnipads. I rented 18, they used 6. As I write I am looking at the damaged leg of the dresser. The headrest from Poang Ikea chair vanished into thin air. As I unpack, I expect to see more damage. The load in was finished in 2 hours 15 minutes and the rest of the time was spent looking for straps and jamming stuff in. When I called Chad to complain about the way my stuff was handled, Chad's response was to threaten pulling his guys off the job. Because I was closing on the house next day, that was not the option. Regardless, I tipped the guys $40 each, because one has to be desperate to work for this company. UNLOAD DAY (Horror show): Eventhough this was the first job of the day, the crew was 45 min late. Granted, the management company goofed and scheduled 2 moves at the same time, but once again, Muscle Helpers crew showed up without a dolly or any tools. Instead of accessing situation, making a plan or offering solutions, 2 guys from Muscle "Helpers" proceeded unloading in a haphazard manner, using laundry baskets (!!!!) from every floor in the building, in lieu of dolly, dropping boxes wherever in my apartment and quitting after completing 1/2 job, because they felt "disrespected". How about respecting the customer who hired you, by showing up on time and prepared?!? Had Chad or Mike told me in the beginning they needed more time, I would have gladly booked additional time. Moreover, Chad, being "experienced" mover could have suggested extra time, instead of telling me that I would pay $3,000 for a professional movers. No Chad, I paid $25/hour more for a job done 50 times better by the company that finished my move the next day. I don't have to be a chef to know the food is crap, and I don't have to be a mover to know this company sucks!! DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! CHAD IS NOT A GOOD SCHEDULER AND HIS CREW ARE JUST RANDO PEOPLE WHO CAN LIFT A BOX.

Even if I had more furniture ( I didn't count my chairs and it was my fault ) I still don't understand it took them 5 more hours with 3 staffs instead of 2 staffs!! I am pretty sure that the company takes into account the time it typically takes when they estimate a price. I simply cannot comprehend, by any standard of reason, how the move took 11 hours. It also took one guy over 90 minitus to assemble a queen size bed & one dining table while other 2 guys were just haning out. Why didn't they splite the work so that one person handled the assembly while the other two carried the items? It is very unfair that they charged me for the labor of three people for those 90 minutes. Did they handle things and charge me in such an unreasonable manner because I am not American?

The problem was, we sold our house and the new owner was moving in late that day; and, we were leaving for Pittsburg airport to have our car picked up by 5:00pm that day for transportation to WestCoast. Obvious, we couldn't reschedule and we had no choice but leave the house by that afternoon With no professional cleaning. As a result, we had to pay the new owner $xxx to compensate for breaking promise (moving cleaning). To make things worse, we got text massage the next day from Pittsburg Pristine complaining our inflexibility, and, we have still not received the $50 deposit fund back up to today!
