Old Fashioned in the hotel lounge before a night out
    Tom R.

Why a 5 star when the Yelp average is 3.5 you ask? Let me tell you... Sure, you could go down the street and stay at the Ritz Carlton for two grand a night and, sure, that would put this to shame. But you're getting this place for pennies on the dollar compared to that. The value and quality here are what make it a true 5 star. I spent maybe one waking hour in the room outside of sleep. I don't need the Ritz. Give me a clean and modern spot in a perfect location. The rooms are small, but totally fine for a quick break from the city or a solid night's sleep. My room was spotless, the bed was comfortable, WiFi was fast, TV worked great, and the city view was beautiful. Times Square never sleeps, and I expected some noise. None. Zero. There are more expensive hotels nearby that actually hand out earplugs. I'd never stay somewhere that needs to do that. The staff here were all friendly and helpful, all six elevators ran smoothly, and the place was safe and secure. The hotel lounge was upscale and comfortable, perfect for relaxing with a drink before heading out. What more can you ask for, especially for this kind of price right in the heart of Times Square?

Stayed 1 night at Pod Times Square. The hotel is cute has a bar/restaurant to the far left of entering the lobby. The rooms are basically a bed and a small bathroom. Do not expect anything spacious but it was a comfortable 1 night stay. They offer free daily ( 6 days a week) walking tours.

it kind of gives dorm room - very practical room with bare basics but perfect for visitors/travelers! i had a bunk bed room and it did exactly what i needed it to do - hot shower and comfy bed. i liked how each bed had their own TV (but sometimes one remote would control both TV's). Negatives: our bathroom door didnt close and the shower curtain did not do a great job keeping the water so our bathroom floor was always really wet. Highlight of this hotel was def the staff!! Front desk was so nice and really went above and beyond with their customer service. my friend checked in on a diff day and they were able to get her the room next door to me. also shoutout victor the bartender! nice guy

Bathroom and shower have a frosted glass wall, not much privacy if you're sharing the room

Thoroughly enjoyed my 6-night stay here. They are totally transparent about the size of their rooms, which don't seem that much smaller than other tiny NYC hotel rooms. Big windows and a nice view. It felt like a calming escape in the busy city. Pros: - smartly designed with hooks and storage - spotlessly clean - good quality cozy pillows and towels - quiet (did not hear neighbors) - well functioning AC - decent size bathroom and big walk-in shower - good location in midtown, easy walk to everything or access to transit - good WiFi - bar on site and a lovely loungy seating area - inexpensive compared to other hotels in the area Considerations: - bathroom and shower have a frosted glass wall, not much privacy if you're sharing the room - you have to take 2 different elevators to get to/from the street to the lobby to your room and there's often a wait - totally fine for one person, could be crowded for 2

A very reasonably priced hotel away from the hustle and bustle of Manhattan but close enough to walk to any of the tourist attractions. Also a short distance to many transportation hubs. Clean lobby area, friendly staff, clean rooms that are checked on daily by the staff. Yes, it is a small space, but it advertised as such. It was the perfect room for me and my daughter. Checking out all the tourist attractions during the day, and resting our tired bodies at night. Perfect for anyone on a tighter budget. Only thing I wish they had was a mini fridge in the bunk rooms, I believe the full desk is not needed.

I want to start by saying that Engineering (Ralph) and the night shift front desk staff provided fantastic customer service. Unfortunately, the situation itself was extremely serious and could have ended much worse. I was staying in a bunk room and placed my necklace and phone on the shelf before going to sleep, something I had been doing regularly. Around 12:00 AM, a spark suddenly flew out from that area and nearly hit my face it luckily only hit my leg. At first, we thought it might have been a one-time incident, but between 12:30-1:00 AM, it continued to spark multiple times. It burned the sheet, and there was a strong smell of something burning. The burn marks were exactly where I would have been laying if I had been asleep, which is very concerning. We called downstairs, and the night front desk was extremely helpful and quickly sent engineering up. Ralph arrived promptly and witnessed the sparks himself, even experiencing them firsthand. After assessing the situation, he confirmed we needed to change rooms around 1:30 AM. When we went downstairs, the night shift front desk contacted the hotel manager, who was also very helpful. We were told that two nights would be comped and that we would be upgraded the following morning between 11:00 AM-12:00 PM. However, the experience the next day with SHAWN and SHAWNA was completely different. They were unhelpful and had an attitude throughout the interaction. We were unable to receive the rooms we were promised, and we were told to leave our belongings downstairs while waiting. I was not comfortable doing that, especially since we had already checked in on time to avoid this exact situation. We were placed in a temporary room just to change and get ready, but were told not to lay on the bed so it wouldn't be "messed up" for the next guests. We are now left waiting for another room to become available, with no clear resolution, despite being told otherwise. This situation could have turned into something far more serious, including a possible fire or serious injury. While I truly appreciate the professionalism and urgency from the night staff and engineering, the lack of follow through and poor customer service from the daytime staff was disappointing and frustrating.

Pod Times Square was a great value. Super affordable stay right in the middle of NYC. We saw a Broadway show, so we wanted to be within walking distance of the theatres. Our room was clean and convenient; the front desk staff were super helpful, too. I know there are complaints about the size of the rooms, but that's literally the point! They're supposed to be small, so you can stay at cheaper rate. If you're in the city to go out and don't plan to be in the room the whole time, this is a great option. Just pretend you're at summer camp staying in bunk beds!

I took an overnight trip to NYC for a concert at MSG and somehow found this little gem of a place while searching the Internet. Location 5/5 Pod Times Square is conveniently located on 42nd and 9th, just a 10 minute walk from Moynihan Train Station and an even shorter walk to Port Authority. Times Square is only a block away, yet the area immediately around the hotel is relatively quiet in comparison to that bustling hustle! Plenty of amenities all around, too! Service 5/5 I arrived at Pod about an hour and a half before my scheduled check-in time, thinking I would only be dropping off my suitcase, but the front desk receptionist happily offered to check me into my room early, which was awesome. Everyone I encountered throughout my stay was friendly and hospitable. Hotel 5/5 I'd like to note here that Pod is not a huge, luxurious hotel with roomy guest quarters, as the name would imply. I chose a bunk room, which, as you would imagine, had bunk beds. The room was compact, yet comfortable for one person, and had all of the amenities one would need for a comfortable and affordable place to sleep for a night or two. I will definitely consider Pod on future trips to NYC.

Traveling during the holidays can be hectic, but the staff at the Park Hyatt made everything feel effortless. Every interaction -- from the front desk to housekeeping to the concierge -- was filled with genuine kindness, patience, and warmth. It was clear they weren't just doing their jobs; they truly cared about making our holiday special. The hotel itself is stunningly elegant yet incredibly comfortable. After long walks through Central Park, returning to our room felt like stepping into a peaceful retreat. The spaciousness, thoughtful details, and quiet luxury made it easy for our family to relax, laugh, and simply be together -- which is what the holidays are really about. We had our first breakfast in New York at the hotel's "the living room" which is located in the lobby. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful with modern decor and stunning 30 foot ceilings. We arrived at 7am as the restaurant just opened and Kamil greeted us with a warm genuine smile. We've stayed at 5 different Park Hyatts in the past 5 years (Kyoto being the most recent) and no one has made us feel as special as Kamil. He has the unique gift of hospitality. He went out of his way to treat us like family and made us feel very special. All of his small gestures, friendly smiles, and thoughtful attention to detail, turned simple moments into special memories. During a season meant for connection and joy, the Park Hyatt delivered both in abundance. Spending Christmas in New York is always special, but spending it at the Park Hyatt New York elevated the experience beyond anything we could have imagined. Our days were spent with full hearts, lasting memories, and deep gratitude for a team that understands true hospitality. Unfortunately, due to geopolitical instability impacting our return route through Amman and the broader Persian Gulf region, our travel plans became unworkable. I contacted multiple hotels involved in our itinerary, and every one of them demonstrated professionalism and understanding by waiving cancellation fees given the circumstances--including other Marriott properties and the Ritz-Carlton. This property, however, took a completely different approach. I spoke with Samir in the reservations department. He refused to provide any refund. We went back and forth multiple times, and each time he introduced a new justification. At one point, he claimed the U.S. State Department had not advised against travel to the Persian Gulf and that any warning had expired on March 31. I provided evidence that there was no expiration date, yet he continued to deny the request. I also explained that other Marriott properties and Ritz-Carlton locations had already issued full refunds under the same circumstances. Despite this, he continued to refuse any accommodation. Only after I told him I would be leaving a review about my experience did he offer a future credit. That is not a practical solution when I have no certainty of returning to Morocco. I then requested that a manager follow up with me. No one ever did. Communication stopped entirely. This response reflects a lack of flexibility, accountability, and basic customer consideration--especially when compared to how other properties under the Marriott International brand handled the exact same situation. As a result, I had to absorb the financial loss and cancel the reservation. Based on this experience, I recommend considering alternative accommodations that demonstrate greater responsiveness and professionalism when dealing with legitimate, unforeseen global disruptions.

The bed is very comfortable, though...and even with the small space, there are plenty of places to hang clothes and store items. Several outlets and USB charging stations available as well. There aren't any washcloths - just hand/body towels... and it's up to you if you want to have your room lightly cleaned or fully turned over. (See your iPad to make that option). Prime location! Modern, spacious rooms (for the city)!…read more The elevators though.... Oy. I stayed at this hotel over the New Years holiday and was thrilled to be so close to Madison Square Garden and Times Square. As was expected, check in was a bit chaotic given the time of year. The ground floor entrance was PACKED with luggage on first arrival. After weaving our way through, we located the check-in desk on the 5th or 6th floor. Tons of people but adequate seating to wait for our room to be ready. An upper floor meant having to figure out their dreaded elevator system. It left something to be desired, to say the least. With only 3 elevators that service the whole of the hotel, and a 4th that goes who knows where, it was almost always a lengthy struggle to catch one. No buttons on the interior of the carriage, all elevators were called with a touchscreen device that seemingly tried to pack as many people as possible into one small space, leaving many behind that couldn't fit, before directing the passengers to another elevator to repeat the whole process over again. One day was so bad, it was actually preferable to walk up the stairs to the 14th floor. Woof. The room itself was wonderful. Spacious, with 2 beds. Very clean. Beautiful view of the city and the arena next door. Great way to catch the sun set. Walk in shower with both an overhead and handheld shower attachment. Great lighting. Shower had heavily frosted glass that faced the bedroom area so be prepared for your silhouette to be on full display for anyone you may be rooming with. Nice sized closet, safe, and mini fridge. Big flat screen television. Window shade worked very well to block out the light if you're hoping to sleep in late. Walls can be a bit thin, especially if you have a rowdy bunch of kids right next door as we did. Aside from the elevators, the perks far outweighed the usual peskier elements (e.g., noise, etc.) one encounters when staying away from home.
