I was so happy to find this tiny gem in Pistoia. It's a small restaurant with about five tables for two outside and only a few more tables inside. However, there are lots to like here, namely their generous portion of good Italian food, the service, and the more than reasonable prices.
We were at a loss as to where to have lunch in Pistoia. However, when we walked in, I chatted briefly with the owner, and he was so very nice and helpful that I decided to give it a try. The owner didn't speak any English but understood my basic Italian, which has slowly been slipping away as the years go by. Although the menu is translated into English, I wouldn't suggest asking questions in English that would require an in-depth answer. Pistoia is a smaller town and not frequented as much by tourists, so not all the shop keepers are fluent in English. However, even if you don't completely understand Italian, don't worry. I could see from the dishes coming out that you won't go wrong with anything on the menu.
The Trofie al Pesto was excellent! I'm partial to trofie (fresh only, not dried) and the pesto was clearly fresh, making a great combination. My husband had the Lasagna alla Bolognese which was made with nice distinguishable layers of lasagne noodles that held up well, but quite rich with heavy cheeses. Each of our entrees could've easily served two people.
Pochi Intimi wasn't on Yelp's radar yet when I walked in. However, it should have been. And now it is! read more
