FSA preyed upon a 75-year-old family member and her husband, and sold them 15-18 year annuities…read more No finanical advisor worth his or her reputation would ever recommend a strategy like this. The majority of their portfolio was liquidated to buy the annuities, creating a huge tax burden as a result, and only an out of court settlement with FSA helped offset the tax implications. On the surface, FSA appears to be a great company. You cannot find FINRA violations because all of their employees are independent contractors, and any other negatives on the company are buried 30 pages deep on Google---a task easily done. Both of the 'contractors' involved in the family member's case either left the company or transferred to another firm/location and the FINRA violations magically diappeared. If you have any dealings with this firm, please check their recommendations with at least 1-2 other firms of your choosing before seeking to invest. Of note, most true financial advisors are 'fiduciaries', which means they act in the clients best interests at all times. That is not the case with FSA, and that is when I realized that something was grossly wrong.
