What can I say, theses guys at Academy Mortgage are just amazing! What I accomplished in six (6)…read moreweeks with Brian and the team over at Academy Mortgage, could not be accomplished in over six (6) months with Lending Tree!!! Before I found these guys, I was thoroughly run through the ringer at Lending Tree. This is the story, trimmed down: I spent literally six months trying to get a refinance through Lending Tree. I wish I'd read the reviews first cause I would have never gone that route (and never will again). Trying to get a loan from Lending Tree was quite possibly the worst experience I've ever had in over 30 years and I remember quite vividly as a child getting my loose teeth pulled out by my mother with a bloody towel. For one, Lending Tree is notorious for employee roll-over. I had three (3) different agents, working in two different time-zones, sometimes with 2-3 weeks going by before I was assigned a new agent. You know it's game-over when you call the agent's extension and received "Welcome to Microsoft Exchange!". Which meant another agent got the axe. Once the new agent was assigned, I had to resubmit parts of lost information, and re-establish a relationship with the agent which was unbearably stressful. Long story short, I was in my last few months before an Interest-Only loan I was locked in on went terminal (a decision I poorly agreed to at one time due to lack of capitol and other reasons, too much to go into at this time)... I talked to my Real-estate guy and he said I should have hit him up to begin with, he knew just the group to work with, they're local, they're nimble, they stay on-top of it; and man was he right. I was provided Brian N.'s cell phone # over at Academy Mortgage... That right there closed the deal for me. Communication with Lending Tree was atrocious, I would place a call or send an email/fax and not receive word back for three (3) *business days*... Imagine communicating with someone and it taking 12-15 business days to get one issue resolved because if you had one 't' that needed crossed or an 'I' that wasn't dotted, you had to resubmit; pulling your hair out in the process. When I called Academy there was a real human voice at the end of the phone every time. I was able to communicate w/the folks at Academy in real-time and they were completely understanding of situation, in-fact, they even went out of the way to follow up to my emails over the weekends. As I stated above, what I accomplished in six weeks with Brian and the team over at Academy Mortgage could not be accomplished in over six months with Lending Tree. I was referred to the NACA program by a two friends. Both raved endlessly about the benefits and…read moresuccess of the program which encouraged me to look into it. Both friends were able to become prequalified and purchase a home within a year to a year and a half. I started the NACA program three months ago in May 2023 and have had 2 counseling sessions. The introduction workshop was very informative, organized and helpful. At times the process is confusing and slightly overwhelming, but if you're dedicated to using outside resources to educate yourself and take advantage of all the available information that NACA provides you will be successful. You definitely need to be on top of your paperwork- have all of your documents ready and organized and ask questions. My current counselor, Andrea is absolutely wonderful. She walked me through step by step, explained the numbers in detail, and is communicative and responsive via email. You can tell that she wants to help you and cares about making sure you feel confident during the process. They also have a portal which is helpful to making sure you're on track and have all your documents on file. NACA helps you learn about buying a home but also provides education on how to own a home, homeowner's insurance, landlord training (if applicable), budgeting tools and more. I'm very optimistic and hopeful about my future with NACA. I recommend and will continue to recommend this program for first time homebuyers. My only concern, is that I was initially I was assigned a counselor that was not engaged, confused me more, and was not communicative. I sent him my documents and he did not add them to my file which set my timeline back months because I had to request and get the same documents I had already gotten all over again. But luckily I was switched to a MUCH better counselor and because my friend had warned me something like that could happen (given the turnover with counselors) I was more prepared. Overall, NACA is a great program and if you put the effort in, you will be successful!

If you attempt to contact his supervisor Derrick Braynon, or Lakesha Geter you will receive the same poor service. Over a year over submitting personal and financial documents to be told you have to wait another year is absolutely inexcusable. Doing my research they have about an 85% fail rate regarding providing home loans. If you do begin the long process with NACA please be prepared for this and have an alternate method of obtaining your loan
