I once waited two and a half hours to see a doctor about pink eye. Yes, pink eye. My eye was pink, I knew what it was, I just needed drops for it, and I waited over 2 hours to hear "yup, that's pink eye alright" and get a prescription. The kicker? It didn't even cure it. I had to make an appointment to see a regular specialist and get stronger drops because even though I wasn't contagious anymore, my eyeball swelled. Ah! This would have been ok had I not waited SO LONG for an insufficient treatment. The receptionists are always very nice though, so at least you don't feel like strangling anyone while you wait.

The receptionist was playing Candy Crush on her phone, didn't even look up when spoken to and then dismissed the patient. When the patient went back to the exam room and I was the only one in the lobby, the receptionist went outside for a smoke and more Candy Crush. When we left about ten minutes later, she was still outside smoking and playing her game. We had a question when we checked out but since the receptionist was outside and no one was at the desk we just left. As we drove away, we watched her out front smoking and playing, oblivious to any work she was probably getting paid to do. Plenty of other urgent care facilities along the York Road corridor. We will take our future ailments elsewhere.

The staff members who assisted me were friendly, helpful, and professional. Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Yamamoto was very different. Her bedside manner was poor, and she repeatedly seemed unable to remember information I had just provided. She recommended that I go to the hospital, and when I calmly asked whether that was necessary, she responded rudely rather than explaining her reasoning. When discussing transportation, she flippantly said, "Well, you get to take an ambulance ride," which was especially unsettling during an already frightening situation. I followed her recommendation and went to the hospital. The paramedics expressed surprise that I had been sent there and believed the necessary testing could have been performed at Patient First. Thankfully, the hospital evaluation showed that I was okay. I appreciated the other staff, but the physician's communication and manner made an already stressful experience significantly worse.

After another short wait, I was taken back by a Physician's Assistant. She gathered some basic health stats and then placed me in a room. The doctor came in shortly after, gave me a diagnosis and prescribed me medicine which they had right there. Overall, I think I was there for a little over an hour and was able to leave with a diagnosis and prescription. Not nearly as bad as I anticipated.

When I visited on a Saturday during flu season, my son and I waited for about four hours. At least one child, who was a baby in an emergency situation, jumped the line because of necessity. What I liked is that the receptionist communicated with those of us who were getting jumped what was happening and why it was necessary. My second visit, during the week, took about an hour. The waiting room features a TV (that played Bluey during our three hour wait), fish tank and some stools that can be moved around. It was enough to keep my sick son occupied while we waited. The actual patient rooms are also fitted with TVs, playing something different than the waiting room, and some wall games as well. Medicine, in some instances, can be purchased on site to save the hassle of a prescription at a pharmacy. Electrolyte popsicles were also available to my son when they were concerned about dehydration. Lollipops and treasure boxes are offered on the way out. All in all, when last minute sickness strikes my kids and their normal pediatrician is not available, I have no qualms taking my kids to Urgent Care of Towson.

There were plenty of seats, including seats for those with thick thighs. I was updated of every step and then when he was in recovery, the nurse came and got me. I asked did they validate parking, but as a incentive they gave me a free parking pass because of the delay, which was top tier. I was advised where to go and pull up to pick up hubby once I got my car. Thankfully there was an attendant to help with getting out.

I called to let them know that a mistake was made and spoke to two of the rudest, most unprofessional women (one was named Hilary) I have encountered in medical setting. No apology. No sorry we made a mistake. And "That's when he takes his lunch. He can't see you then. Do you want to reschedule or not?" Some people have no business interacting with patients. Just look for another practice.
