Visited on a Friday after work (around 4:30). I was concerned the wait would be long but really needed to figure out what was going on. Check in was easy. There is a kiosk right when you enter. You fill in all your information there. Then I waited a few minutes before being called back by an office staff person who took care of insurance, typing up more specifics about why I was there and gathering payment. After another short wait, I was taken back by a Physician's Assistant. She gathered some basic health stats and then placed me in a room. The doctor came in shortly after, gave me a diagnosis and prescribed me medicine which they had right there. Overall, I think I was there for a little over an hour and was able to leave with a diagnosis and prescription. Not nearly as bad as I anticipated. read more

Visited on a Saturday, long wait time, a perfunctory exam by the PA, She diagnosed an abscess even though there was no sign of infection, no fever and normal white blood cell counts. Later in week, a skin care physician exam revealed a cyst with no need for 2 antibiotics prescribed by Patient First. PA was not particularly caring , focused or competent. read more

I understand you all have jobs to do and etc , I work in the health field as well so I know. I brung my son in at 3:04 we were quickly help and the front desk then it all went downhill. At 4:15 is when we were called back we were not seen by a doctor till 6:30 after repeatedly saying something to the MA. Zero communication. Horrible bedside manner and you can over hear them talking about previous patients!!! read more

For what it is Patient First is a good emergency health resource. I have generally been treated well at Patient First facilities for basic medical maintenance issues. Flu shots, sexual health related testing basic preventive medicine related stuff. The in house Pharmacy seems well stocked but I have never had cause to use it. They don't give the herpes vaccine and I wish they did. I removed one star because there are holes in their preventive wellness coverage that make no sense. They don't have basic vaccines available to prevent issues of concern to older and younger patients. The staff is very kind, quick and helpful. Test results come back fast and can be picked up without much trouble. The electronic sign in process is amazingly simple and user friendly. While there is much room for improvement Patient First is an ok resource for general routine healthcare needs. Patient First is an adjunct to a good family doctor not a replacement for them. read more

Nice employees but should not take over 2 hours to get a 10 minute sports physical. I understand about short staffing but there looks to be plenty of employees working here. Only one person qualified to do the physical apparently. So only one MD, PA, RN or DO on staff at a time. Sorry but that's ridiculous. Still waiting. Got here at 11;10am and it's now 1:00pm. I was there 2 weeks ago presenting small lumps on my arms,and body. Doctor that saw me did not ask questions pertaining to changes in diet or new medications, and concluded that I had an infection in my arms and gave me an antibiotic. I had just started a new medication that I had an allergic reaction to, which was confirmed 2 weeks later by my doctor that gave me the new Medication. Therefore it was not an infection, and by rushing to give an antibiotic, may have added to the coming rise of antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria read more

I came here last evening in pain and with a fever. I arrived at 6pm and didn't get home until 9:30pm. I begged the staff for ibuprofen-- I had not brought any because I didn't think I would be waiting for 3 hours. The staff told me that I could not have ibuprofen without the doctor signing off on it. I told them I would walk to find a drug store to get my own meds but they begged me to stay. They said they had asked the doc to authorize. Thirty minutes later, the doctor indicated that staff could have given me ibuprofen without her authorization. Wow. So, the staff here watched me cry for half an hour because I was in so much pain. One staff member came in to ask me the date of my last period because she had missed it in triage. "I have no idea. I just can't remember." Also, I had just been here last week, they had asked me the same question and could have looked at my chart. The doc wanted to do One More Test, but I wanted to go home. The doc apologized for my "stressful visit" but not for the negligent staff. I will go the ER the next time I have a medical emergency-- it would be faster. So I need to start out by saying that I'm a nurse. And I work too much for my own good because I am also a manager. I wasn't going in to get an excuse to miss work I just need to know what has been going on. I've been sick since the end of December. It started out with a runny nose and sinus pressure and really no other symptoms. My son had gotten strep the week before I got sick. But I didn't have any other symptoms that would match it so I hadn't gotten tested. Well this changed over the past few days, and my sinus pressure started to move into my throat and my chest. Additionally the mucus being coughed up tasted horrible and hurts like hell. But more alarmingly, the chills and body aches had started. So I decided to brave the icy elements and go to the patient first where my husband and son had good experiences in the past. I got in pretty quickly after signing in and getting registered. So we were off to a great start. But when the medical assistant took the flu swab she did it completely incorrectly. The flu swab is a nasopharyngeal swab that is quite uncomfortable because it has to go to the back of your throat through your nose. This is a blatant CDC recommended technique to make sure that you have an accurate sample. The MA actually just swabbed the tip of my running nose, and to add insult to injury, she took the swabs and slid them back into the paper wrapper completely decreasing any chance of getting an accurate sample. Now I am not one to complain, in fact I rarely say anything about any of my concerns when being served at restaurants, provider offices, or any other services; but since I am going home to my family and then to work with my coworkers (and patients) I thought it important to speak up. The doctor came in and informed me that both the strep and flu tests were negative. I politely asked about the technique being used to collect it, to which she responded, "as long as they got some of your mucous it would be OK". She then proceeded to minimize anything I was telling her about and pushed me right on out of the office. In the end she diagnosed me with an Upper respiratory infection and gave me a receipt that explains why not all Infections need antibiotics. Oh, and also gave me a longer slip of paper to tell me about my BMI being high but never asked me about the 40 pounds of weight loss I've had in the past eight months! I guess it's back to bed to continue feeling miserable and hope that their tests are reliable enough to be safe around my family, friends, coworkers, and patients ‍‍ read more

I had a terrible experience today at this location. I completely understand to an extent how stressful an urgent care facility and all that comes with it. However, I could not understand or even begin to wrap my head around how awful the doctor made me feel this morning. I had come in with very settled about my situation but as a naturally anxious person after a while of being the told the doctor would be able to see me in a "few" minutes. I started having a panic attack, to no fault of the staff, very much a self-induced situation. However the symptoms of a panic attack feel very real and urgent to a person at the time it is happening and I was doing everything in my power to not make a scene considering that I know other patients had more extreme cases than mine. When I alerted a staff member of the impeding feeling of me about to pass out I was immediately met with an unappreciated attitude that I brushed off. I did not want to cause any unnecessary worry or drama. When the doctor eventually came to see me I can not stress how uncomfortable and disrespected I felt. I was met with not a single ounce of sympathy or at least bedside manners. Ultimately, my situation was fine and my vitals were fine and I appreciate that conclusion. What I absolutely didn't appreciate is the COMPLETE lack of respect or validation of my very real panic attack symptoms that I needed in that moment. I understand this isn't a counseling center but health doesn't stop at the physical level and I was under the impression that I would be, at the very least met, with some type of validation for my panic attack symptoms instead of being written off for overreacting. I'm positive the doctor was knowledgable and would never discredit that. But I believe meeting a person where they're at has to be at least 1/4th of the job. Prett good place to go if your doctor is not available at the time. I needed to be checked out to make sure that I did not have strep throat. Thank goodness it was just a virus. I don't get sick often but, when I do I feel pretty bad. The employees at this location seem to be pretty sincere. I would return to this location in the future if it were needed. Pros: Easy touch-screen check-in Clean, bright, and spacious waiting room Friendly staff It's better than Concentra in Timonium Cons: You will be here for hours, mostly just waiting in a sad exam room You will likely be seen by a physician's assistant, not a doctor Diagnosis may feel like it wasn't worth all the time wasted I've been here twice in the past few months, both times for care for my daughter. The first was for extreme foot pain caused by an ingrown toenail. What's interesting about Patient First is that when you first get there, they are quick to get you back to the exam room, so immediately, you're hopeful and grateful that you're going to be attended to with the urgency implied in the name "urgent care." Don't be fooled. We waited for at least one hour in the exam room only to be told--by a PA--that my daughter should just soak her foot and coax out the ingrown toenail. In other words: We wasted all that time to be given information I could have found on the internet in five minutes. The second time was today, for a suspected ear infection. We came here after getting fed up with the unbelievably long wait, rude staff, and overall nonsense at Concentra in Timonium. The wait in the exam room wasn't as long this time, but once again, my daughter was examined by a PA, and once again was given underwhelming care advice: Take Claritin-D. It turns out she doesn't have an ear infection. I don't have confidence in this assessment. I do appreciate that Patient First at least has friendly staff, both reception and medical, but I can recommend this place only if your only other option is Concentra. As far as taking the "urgent" out of urgent care, these places are one and the same, and neither seem to be staffed by medical professionals you can feel truly confident in. If it's an option, just call your primary care doctor and ask to be squeezed in as an emergency appointment. read more

After waiting for a little over an hour, the person who I assume was the doctor because she never introduced herself, informed me that my 8 y/o wouldn't be seen. The person dismissed us with a wave of her hand. No apology , didnt look at my daughter , nothing but a mask mandate compliance. I came here for what I thought was a burgeoning ear infection. They admitted me promptly and I was really impressed with how technologically advanced this place is. It's also really clean -- tissues, face masks, and hand sanitizer everywhere (perfect for a germaphobe like myself). The PA and physician I saw were both bright, friendly, and kind and I wasn't kept waiting long at all. The in-house pharmacy is also really convenient. I will definitely come back here if/when I have another health concern. read more

Went there around 2:40. Was checked in fairly quick and vitals were taken fast. They also swabbed my nose and had me wait for a room. I was called into a room at 3:22 and told there were 3 people ahead of me. Doctor never came in until 4:40 where they swabbed my nose again. 5:23 and she never returned. I eventually got up and left. I'm a teacher and left work early for this and it was just a waste of my time. Nurse was very apologetic. read more

This was my second time visiting this location and not too pleased with the outcome. I feel like they do the same thing to everyone with every visit then tell them to go see a specialist or refer them to the ER. I came in January 2018 with heart palpitations. I wanted to get a professional's thoughts about what is going on and what to do next. There is minimal wait time in the lobby but then when I went back, it took hours for the doctor to get into my room and talk with me. I had blood work done, an EKG test, Xrays, and some breathing tests done. Then after about 2 1/2 hours, I was referred to a cardiologist at St. Joseph's Hospital because they didn't know what was going on with me. Okay, well bye then. I came in December 2018 for pain in what felt like my left lung. The exact same procedures were completed on me. Blood work, EKG, Xrays, and breathing tests. It was literally the exact same tests for them to come back several hours later and say "We honestly don't know what is wrong with you. Please go to the ER of your choice." Well, okay bye! So, I go visit St. Joseph's ER and within one hour they knew exactly what it was, diagnosed it, and sent me on my way! If you can, just go to the ER instead of Patient First. The facility was clean and sanitary. The staff was very kind and lovely but the knowledge and referrals I experienced weren't too professional. read more

This place is extremely SLOW! We are from out of town and I thought our urgent care was slow back home with 1.5-2 hour waiting time, but these people here move at a snails pace as though you have all the time in the world. While they stand around laughing and chatting with one another. And all for a simple X-ray. They make you wait in the waiting from for 2 hours to only take you back to wait yet another hour plus. A simple X-ray turns into a 3+ hour wait. Seriously. I hope to never need this place again when out here visiting. read more

The Towson Patient First is my favorite location. I've been to three others and I either had a negative experience or it was just status quo. At Towson, staff are attentive, knowledgeable and helpful. But the superstar is Margaret Byram. When I see that she's there, I'm relieved. Not because the other members aren't great, but she is so engaging, friendly and genuinely concerned about me. l've seen her a couple of times and I truly appreciate her care. Recently, I was talking to a colleague and the topic of Patient First came up. This individual saw Ms. Byram too and had a similar experience. So though I thought I was her favorite :), her level of care is more widespread. She treats patients like people instead of walking problems. I've never experienced excessively long wait times and I've been there with my daughter or for myself several times over the last year for varying issues. I don't tend to go on weekends so perhaps that would be the reason that I don't experience the long wait times noted in other reviews. read more

I was very disappointed with this location. I have been to patient first in rose dale and also in bel air. This one had to be hands down the roughest and rudest patient first I have ever gone to. I am allergic to bees and also to certain spider bites because of the venom they carry. I woke up with a spider bite on the back of my neck and was having some itchy, give reactions. So I called the bearer emergency room/minute clinic which was patient first. I asked them if they accepted my insurance and told them I was on my way and I was having an allergic reaction and did not have my epi pen because it was out of date. The woman told me to come in and I would be triaged immediately. When I arrived a snotty middle aged woman was at the front desk. I filled out the electronic waiting sheet and she called me over. As soon as I sat down I gave her my id and insurance card. I had a temporary insurance papercard because I was waiting for my new card to arrive. She told me that was unacceptable and that I needed the hard card. Even though the insurance policy number is the same? I asked if she could call and verify the policy and she told me I had to do that! I have never heard of such crap! Any other hospital will verify insurance them selves. But wait it gets better, this arrogant woman then told me I had an outstanding bill from a patient first in a different county! I told her that I have only been to two different ones and my insurance covered my bill... Mean while I am having a severe allergic reaction and the itching was getting worse my throat was itchy and it was becoming harder to breath. I said to the woman so you are refusing me medical treatment because of a bill that is not mine? That is illegal! So I demanded I be seen and get my shot to stop the itching and hives which were clearly visible. So the woman told me that she would get a nurse to evaluate me and determine whether I was in a stable condition. I kid you not this nurse came out asked me two questions and said he's stable and the rude woman at the desk said since you are stable we can not see you because you owe us money. So I demanded a managers name and number. This receptionist then gives me the exact number to the same nurse that said I was stable... I was so annoyed but I was in a lot of discomfort and needed to get the epi pen. So I went down the street to gbmc where I was then evaluated and determined to be in a critical state. My breathing was tense and my hives itching and spreading. They issued me a shot of epinephrine and monitored my body until I was recovered fully! I am so disappointed in this company and the way the nurse handled the situation! Luckily I am familiar with my allergy and knew what was going on and I sought immediate help after that untrained nurse dismissed my medical condition as stable! Had that have been someone who was unfamiliar about allergic reactions they may have died due to the lack of the nurses judgment! The fact this place was willing to allow me to die because I supposedly owed them money is absurd and this type of hospital would be better off not existing!!!! NEVER AGAIN! My life means to much to trust people like that! read more

I went to this Patient First once after a car accident to get checked out. This place was a joke.... THE GOOD... -easy to find parking THE BAD... -so many people in waiting area coughing everywhere and it was very crowded -long wait time -after giving my insurance info they still found a way to not charge me right...they billed me with someone else's insurance...took a few phone calls after the fact, but finally got cleared up -couldn't take x-rays -waited for a bit in room....nobody really checked in Overall, I still needed to go to ER so this place was useless. Horrific service. I went in for a simple test which usually takes up to 50 minutes max to complete and get in and out. I went to this place and when I was brought to my room I asked the nurse for a CUP OF WATER and was waiting for 30 minutes. I've been here for a total of an hour and 40 mins and I haven't spoken to a single doctor, pa, or even a nurse practitioner yet. On top of this THEY OVER CHARGE. Oh and not to mention the staff is very rude. They were rushing me during the check in process and seemed annoyed that I couldn't remember some of my info and had to pull it up for them. This place is ridiculous and run very poorly. Usually I'm sympathetic and understanding of flaws and inconveniences within establishments, but this place is astonishingly horrible. Usually I love these guys but I get here at 8 in morning. Tonight I came at 9:30 and you would have thought they were giving away free drugs! Towson U coeds all over lobby eating dinner they brought with them, like out of Animal House. Still waiting an hour later just to get a prescription filled. The positive is the staff is friendly the negative is either the Dr is slowwwwww or his bedside manners are so good he spends a lot of time with patients. About a year ago I went in with boyfriend for what ended up being appendicitis. My boyfriend at the time had a major fear of doctors, hospitals, and anything medical. I informed the doctor about this and they still decided to make a joke that he would have to be awake when they removed his appendix. After the doctor left, since we did not drive there, we were trying to figure out how we were going to get to the hospital so we were sitting in the exam room for about 3 minutes after they left. A person who worked there then came in to yell at us for being in the room and that they needed it. My boyfriend was in so much pain at the time that he does not remember any of this. But the way they treat there patients is all about turnover and not about patient care or genuine concern for the patients well being. I will never go there again and do not suggest it. read more

I had a great experience here! I ruptured my ear drum a few weeks ago and came in here to see how it was healing and make sure there was no infection. The facility is super modern and the technology is cool. There were no other patients in there at the time, so the technician took my info right away. The thing I liked best was that there were no paper forms to fill out - everything was electronic! Instead of taking time to write everything down and then hand it to a tech who would just enter it into the computer anyway, the tech and I were able to fill out the information together, electronically. This is a great idea to keep things moving along in the waiting room. The doctor I saw seemed knowledgeable and gave me some good advice helping my ear heal. Also very convenient - prescriptions can be filled right in their facility! I didn't use that service, but it seems smart to have that available for patients. read more

Went in to get a sports physical today. It's a lot to type and I've already told the story about five times today so to sum it up, I had to show the nursing assistant how to take my pulse and I literally felt like I was talking to high school students. I needed a sickle cell test as well which requires bloodwork but there is no way I would let a single person in there put a needle in my arm. I walked out of there fearing the safety of their upcoming patients. Trust me, the chances of something going wrong with your health in there are about 10x higher. STAY AWAY!!! read more
