On November 8 2025, our party of four -- celebrating my lawyer brother's 68th birthday -- had what…read moreshould have been a pleasant evening at SOLE Restaurant in Waterloo. It turned into an embarrassing and disappointing experience. I am a retired Air Force Captain, a veteran of the Gulf War, and that evening I was joined by my brother and our spouses, we all choose to drink red wine. After enjoying dinner and ordering our second bottle of wine, a female manager approached our table to ask how we were getting home. I explained that my wife and I were staying at the Delta Hotel across the street and walked here and were walking back, while my brother mentioned that his daughter would be picking them up. Later, when we ordered a fourth bottle of wine to enjoy with dessert, the same manager returned and refused to serve us, claiming that it would amount to "one bottle per person" and could "put us over the limit." In all my 64 years, I have never been refused service ever -- especially while being responsible, polite, and transparent about our arrangements. Feeling insulted and unwelcome, we decided to take our business to the Delta Hotel, where we were treated with courtesy and common sense. Needless to say, SOLE will never see my face again, and I will make sure others are aware of how this restaurant treats paying, respectful customers celebrating a special occasion. Sincerely, Capt. (Ret'd) Martin Mattes Canadian Air Force Veteran

Very solid restaurant with great food! Place is classy but cozy. We ordered the seasonal soup which…read morewas a hearty beef and vegetable orzo soup, pear & blue pizza, and the roasted squash & duck fiorelli. Soup was perfect for the cold weather, and enough for two of us to share. Pizza had good chew to the crust and the combination of blue cheese and pears and honey was delicious. A little greasy. Pasta was delicious and cooked perfectly, the duck confit was so tender and flavourful, squash was also perfectly tender. They were also nice enough to bring a little birthday dessert for us! Only thing I'll say is that this might be the only restaurant I've felt like I'm doing something wrong... not that the servers were mean but the vibes are just something I've never felt before. Total bill for us before tax & tip was $67. Great pricing for great food. Highly recommend!

The best Greek food in town!…read more The restaurant has parking up a steep ramp or on the lower level, same level as the street. The restaurant has either a building with elevator access or down the stairs around the corner, so lots of accessibility. The people at this restaurant are amazing. They definitely go above and beyond to make your experience wonderful. The restaurant has a section for private dining and a larger casual area. It's clean, it's spacious and nothing but tip top service. We had catering from them for approx 1000 people and they did not disappoint. Djole and his team worked hard to get the food prepped and delivered on time and more importantly - hot and delicious. They listened to what our needs were and adjusted accordingly with their expertise. Chicken souvlaki - 10/10 super juicy and grilled beautifully Moussaka (vegetarian) 100/10- the vegetables were layered and cooked to perfection. The creamy mix of potatoes on top add a lovely depth to the dish. Spanikopita bites 10/10 - on point and delicious Rice - flavorful Potatoes - super yummy Overall, nothing but great things to say about this team. Love them!

The cheese did some heavy lifting to earn an overall food rating of 3.5 / 10. Truly, truly bad. Great service, borderline awkward contrast. Relaxed (empty) atmosphere, go figure...

For a place located in the food court, I actually think it's not bad!…read more Since I work at the mall, I often come here and get the souvlaki dinner. I must say though that the rice is very plain but I tend to mix it in with tzatziki sauce to add some flavour. When I go to eat there, it's usually a Korean girl or Vietnamese woman who is serving food. Both of them give generous amounts of salad, rice and whatever sides you order. I've heard that the owner changed several months ago and the place looks cleaner and nicer than before. There also grill the chicken to warm it up before serving it too! Overall, it's a rather decent place for something in the mall. Not oily and gross for starters! But keep in mind that the food is a bland without some salt and pepper.

I think my buddy's looked more appetizing but everything seemed quite fresh and they really loaded up the ingredients though the feta cheese seemed pretty dry and powdery. The whole grain wrap option was a nice touch. They were pretty fast and reasonably priced. Price at about 7.50 each including tax. At the risk of seeming ridiculous, I have to say that the food court here is quite remarkable for its high vaulted cathedral like ceilings and good taste (which I'm probably comparing to what they were like before which seemed a bit dirty mass food prep and dark)
