I have been going here for years and knew John the previous owner. He was a bit gruff but always…read morehad his own sense of humor if you would call it that. But always very knowledgeable. But because of some health issues I had to give up cigars a couple years ago. But my son, in college, has picked up the liking occasionally for a nice cigar and I thought I'd pass on my stuff and get him a nice start on a selection of cigars. So off to Bell's I went. We'll I walked into the store and it was very different. It was opened up and bright and there was a gentleman and young woman behind the counter that were both very pleasant. But I was surprised. What happened to John. We'll, looks like he retired. The gentleman at the counter was Bhavik Shah. He was pleasant and extremely knowledgeable. He took me through the store and helped me get 11 cigars, I was hoping for 10, and although I spent more than I really wanted, I felt like I got a great value and a stunning selection. And on top of it I got a military discount. All pluses in my book. So new owner, but the service is outstanding and the offerings have expanded. It was a true pleasure to meet you Bhavik. Thanks for the help. My son will enjoy looking up the different labels on the cigars and reading about his selection.

Ireturned to Bell's House of Tobacco today after about five years away, and the contrast between…read morewhat this shop used to be versus what it has become under the current owner is genuinely disheartening. Years ago, the original owner set the gold standard for what an independent tobacconist should be. Back when I was a first-time buyer, he took the time to educate me on briars, proper pipe care, and the craft of the leaf. The shop was pristine and well-stocked, with bulk blends kept properly in full glass apothecary jars and hand-packaged into proper roll-fold pouches. You walked out with quality tobacco and genuine knowledge. Walking in today, the new owner was polite enough, but the traditional pipe culture here is practically dead. The classic glass jars are gone, replaced by half-empty plastic snap-top Tupperware containers. I bought the dregs of his bulk Sutliff vanilla, and once I got home, it was bone-dry and smoked harsh--clearly stored without any proper humidity control. The tin selection is down to scraps (just a couple of Davidoffs and half-bare slots of Peterson), pipe inventory is stripped down to cobs and a tiny handful of older stock, and the shop is mostly dominated by massive bags of hookah shisha. What sealed it for me was watching a newcomer walk in looking to try pipe smoking. Instead of the mentorship and guidance I received years ago, the owner offered bare-minimum interest, didn't bother to explain the basics, and simply rang him up for a cob and sent him on his way. When I asked him for a blend recommendation to suit an older Peterson Dublin churchwarden, he couldn't offer any real insight, passion, or personal opinion--just a casual remark that more stock might arrive in "a few weeks," despite his shelves currently sitting hollowed out. A traditional brick-and-mortar pipe shop relies entirely on product care, working expertise, and an owner who actually cares about the community. This shop has lost all three and is now operating like any generic corner smoke shop that happens to keep a few neglected tins on a back shelf. It's a real shame to see what became of it.

If I could leave a -1 star review I would. Ok I'm the first…read moreto tell you that I'm not keyboard warrior. But I'd give this shop -1 stars if I could. I've been a couple times and the owner has not necessarily been pleasant a single time. However I don't care about that much I was just there to get my vape and get out. His vape selection is limited compared to others in the area. He's centered around tobacco specifically. I went in and bought two vapes.. when I got into the car and went to turn the vape on the airflow fell off. I took it in he popped it back on and proceeded to hit it and get me a new one. The second one my SO opened when they got home and it immediately started blinking when hit. I called and asked him if I could send the vape back for a new one. He proceeded to try and mansplain to me how to turn the device on and off again and that he has never had any issues and now I have two. My thoughts exactly. Nice observation. After he took this tone I told him I knew how to troubleshoot and it didn't work and if he'd please trade me out for what I paid for we would not be back and he would not have to worry about it. He said "if you're never going to come back why would I be nice to you." I said word I'll leave a review. I do as I say. Don't waste your time or money. There's better people and vape stores.
