Three days prior to leaving for a week long vacation, my Mom started having some health issues and…read moreended up in ER. It quickly became obvious that I was going to need full-time in-home care for her during my absence. That evening, I made a phone call to Visiting Angels of Livermore. They offered to provide a full no-commitment assessment, and I accepted. The next day, Mr. Keith Beck, Executive Director, came to my home and evaluated Mom's situation and needs. Mr. Beck was on-time, professional, organized and efficient. Following the assessment, we were introduced to a recommended caregiver who, assuming my approval, would be responsible for Mom. She was professional, very conversational with Mom and an experienced caregiver. By the end of the appointments, I was confident that Mom would have good, comforting care while I was gone. I was extremely impressed that Visiting Angels responded so quickly, and was also able to provide and dedicate quality staff in a timely manner. I continued the caregiving services on a part-time basis after I returned home as Mom was still not quite stable. Another caregiver was introduced and assigned. After a couple of weeks of continued part-time care, Mom became much better and I was comfortable with stopping the services. I highly recommend Visiting Angels of Livermore. All of my experiences (and my Mom's) were positive. It is a very well managed business with a reliable, kind, and supportive team: owner, office staff, and caregivers. Thanks to Visiting Angels I was able to enjoy my vacation. I will definitely use them again when and if the need arises. I know it's costly for home care,but we both agreed that these friendly folks would help us out.Price was not a problem.We made an appointment for the meet and greet home evaluation and get to know our new team members and our assistants.No one showed up at the appointmeant that they promised us in the beginning.I guess that $200,000 set aside for his companionship and round the clock care went down the drain. Him and I are going to use another home health care company since Visiting Angels has decided not to follow throug.

I volunteered for the caring visitors program and currently doing office support, where needed. The staff are friendly, engaging, and passionate about their work. City Serve offers homeless services, care advocacy, caring visitors program for seniors 60+, and finding wellness. I have inquired about resources for myself within my community and they were able to guide me to the appropriate organizations. Their holiday pop-up shopping event where resident can shop for Christmas toys for their kids as well as shop for basic personal needs is a huge hit. I have gone, get there early; I was able to get some gifts and much needed household and personal items.

Valley Humane Society plays a critical role in our local pet adoption ecosystem, and we had the…read moreprivilege of being given a tour recently. VHS goes to local county shelters and saves well-behaved cats and dogs that are about to be euthanized because of overcrowding. They have a medical clinic onsite that does a wellness check, and then their 200+ volunteer army steps in to foster and care for these cats and dogs, while permanent homes can be found. Our tour focused on the cat side of VHS. First we checked out the youngest kittens, which are kept in separate rooms, followed by Kitty City, which houses the remaining cats onsite (the rest are in foster homes). We met all the Catizens of Kitty City, including Mayor Big Bird, who has since been adopted, and several others with interesting personalities and histories, like Donna, Dealership, and Zombie (my favorite!). The animals are lovingly cared for, and the operations at VHS are well-organized (e.g. laundry area, kitchen and break rooms, etc.). Kitty City also includes an outdoor play area for cats, affectionately called "The Catio" !! Thank you, Valley Humane Society, for all that you do for our community.

Next time I'll be there when they open. There were still a good amount of vendors and music out at that time. But a lot of them were closing up and had all the samples gone. I got the juiciest Cara Cara oranges, fresh flowers, and a crotchet kit for my daughter from Saltwater Books & Gifts. The walking space is a little narrow and it was annoying (on my part) to drag my wagon through the aisle. So if you plan on bringing that, or a stroller, just be prepared. I truly can't wait to go back.

Would totally be a regular if I lived in the area.
