That…read moreunfortunately became a reality in 2023, after I was hit head-on by a wrong-way driver with dementia on I-39. I just wanted to take the time to recognize the staff at Thrive of Lisle, as they took great care of me. Shoutouts to CNA's Alan & Harrison; nurses Shirley, Mark and Gina. They are the best! Kellie from activities, Jerome and Sue are always roving the halls and engaging with residents. The positivity and enthusiasm of the staff is truly contagious, and made this long recovery journey easier for me. Therapists Susan, Ed, Keyenna and Tiffany have been helping me work towards my goal to be able to walk again and use my left arm. I love Thrive of Lisle, and the staff here. 2023 was easily the darkest time of my life. I nearly lost my life, and was not sure if I'd ever walk again, or be able to return to the career that I love. The staff at Thrive treated me like family. I can't tell you how much happiness and hope that CNA Alan, Nurse Shirley & Kellie brought into my life during this time. They are truly special people. I still come back to thrive and visit at least 4 times a year. It's rewarding for me to visit the current patients during activities time, as well as spreading positivity and encouragement. I also love seeing my extended family (the Thrive staff). My advice & words of wisdom for incoming patients and their families: * Advocate for yourself as the patient; if you're a relative; please advocate for your loved one. * Treat the staff with love & respect (I promise it'll come back to you ten-fold, and will be a much better experience for you & the staff this way.) * You might be shy at first, but take full advantage of the activities that Kellie puts together! From craft-making to group games; it's a fun time for everyone! (Even the patient's visitors are encouraged to participate). * It doesn't matter if you're bedridden, the staff will make sure to get you out to socialize, shower, or PT. You just need to communicate your needs to them early enough in the day. * Family: PLEASE don't underestimate the power of your visits. Frequent visits will greatly help your loved one as they strive to recover. I had at least 2 family members taking turns visiting me throughout each day. *Keep in mind, you ARE allowed to sit in on your loved one's physical therapy sessions. - Just ask the therapist as a courtesy* * Stay positive & Keep on thriving! My mother cannot get out of bed without help, dress herself, or even go to the toilet without help. Alden told the Medicare review that she is ok to go home. The quality of this facility is awful. My mother needs more PT and is forced to pay 500.00 per day for her care. It really seems like they are in it to make money and not care for people. Also, the administrative staff is the worse. In fact there is only 1 person to advocate for patients and theat person has no compassion for people. I highly recommend you do not use Alden.

I have to say that my time there was not great but it wasn't terrible the people that work there…read moreespecially for one CNA Mariah she really cared for all her patients she deserves a raise. when i first got there she really noticed that i was in major pain and tried to make me as confortable as possible. When she told me about options about the shower schedule she had to do a bed bath on me and treated me with dignity and made me feel confortable. From that day on i knew that while she was there i was in good hands with a caring person. There was a few more people there that always made me confortable and these people are the reeptionist i always called her georgeous and she called me hansome she made me feel at home i didn't get here name and i am sorry. there was two more people that really kicked my butt in therapy and they were Agnes and Ross they really worked me because they knew how bad i wanted to go home and they did not take it easy on me i appreciated that there were days when i got back to my room and just exhausted. This is the reason that this review is not five stars and it comes down to privacy. This is more for the second shift when the door is closed to the room it is only proper to knock and wait to be answered before coming in to the room. They had a habit of just walking in the room without knocking. There was a couple of times where i was in the bathroom and they just barged in and opened the door. Even though it is a kind of a hospital vibe when the door to the room is closed it should be considered being private and the courtesy is to knock not just walk in the door. if i ever have to go back for rehab i would go back to avondale

Administration is scattershot. Got multiple different packages of papers to sign prior to move in despite also having three face to face meetings with managers. Would have been helpful to see a checklist and timeline leading up to move in. Also would have been helpful if someone greeted resident on day one and went over his meal times, housekeeping, laundry, and bathing schedule And provided a print out of this information. Difficult to get accurate information related to health care staffing. No one seemed to know for sure the days staff nurse or geriatric doctor are onsite. No one seemed to know how the facility lending library operated in conjunction with Shorewood library.

Maintenance, activities ,CNA's, and the receptionists at the front desk were all very good. However, I am only giving the Timbers a one star rating because when she moved out they kept $1,000 of her security deposit. The only explanation given-Damages: replace carpet. After numerous attempts to speak to someone in charge with no one calling back, I gave up. I don't think it is right that someone on a fixed income should have to replace carpeting that just needed shampooing. Isn't there normal wear and tear after 2 1/2 years? The residents should not be responsible for decorating after they move out.
