When Pleasant Green Grass came into our lives five or six years ago, our backyard consisted of many bare patches decorated here and there with a textbook variety of NC weeds--some of them 8" across and with wicked spikes. We didn't year for a carpet-like lawn, but we did want a lawn that our tiny grandchildren could play on safely. In addition, we had been designated by the National Wildlife Federation as a backyard wildlife refuge and keeping things safe for wildlife was also important to us. I was impressed and pleased at every step this past fall as my requests for evaluation and service were responded to immediately, and the follow up work was done to high standards of thoroughness and attention to detail. There is a field staff and an office staff, and all cared and payed attention to my particular needs, adjusting service and timing according to the weather and my yard's condition at the time and answering my questions promptly. They even sent someone out to show me how to water properly and what equipment I needed. Although it's too soon to see the full results, I know I'm working with a company that cares and wants to get it right, and will go extra steps to make it happen. After 33 years trying myself to establish a decent lawn, I finally gave up and decided to hire a lawn service. But after two years with Pleasant Green Grass our yard was in worse shape than it ever was while I was looking after it. Almost entirely weeds and dead grass. At one point owner sent out an email warning clients about fungus. I replied and said I thought we had some starting and he wrote back saying to keep an eye on it. I did, and watched it spread. Reported that and PGG, although they said they were aware of the problem and were experimenting with ways to combat it, didn't come out to look at it. Didn't come out either after I sent photos showing the abysmal condition of the lawn; just told me what they might do in the future. Didn't hear anything from them when I canceled service. Before I signed up I said I wanted a service that would take some ownership in the appearance of our lawn, and I was assured (by a person who I think is no longer there) that's the way PGG operated. I highly recommend Pleasant Green Grass for your lawn care needs. I am very picky, have high standards, and want to use natural, organic materials. Five years ago, I had employed Pleasant Green Grass to analyze my soil, fertilize, and aerate/reseed. After a while, I had the best looking lawn on the street. Unfortunately, I was laid off from work and had to let them go. I tried to keep up with the lawn needs, but within two years the lawn was weed-filled, spotty and sick-looking. AWFUL COMPANY!!!!!!! Please avoid at all costs. We have had them for two years now and they keep saying "it takes time" but our yard is now 90% crab grass. They are all lip service and no action, and hide behind the trendy word "organic."Their website says "satisfaction guaranteed" however the customer has no recourse if they are not satisfied. When we complained over a year ago Scott walker convonced us to add a 300$ additional "organic treatment" and the results have been awful. Last year at this time I thought our yard was neglected but now it is actually damaged. Their website says that "if you have a problem we will send someone out immediately, no questions asked"....yet when I called thoday they said no one was available. Pleasant Green Grass has great customer service and good results for our lawn. Scott and his team have always responded right away to any concerns or question we have had. When we moved into our new house, the previous owners didn't do organic lawn care but the lawn was beautiful. We were uncertain if we would be able to maintain that throughout the transition to organic, as we knew that it was a process of strengthening the lawn overall but would take a few seasons for this to happen. Scott has managed to not only keep our lawn looking nice, but is fixing areas that are spotty, working with us to deal with weed growth throughout, and making our lawn healthier than when we moved in. I chose Pleasant Green Grass because, for my family's health, I wanted to avoid the toxicity of the products used in traditional lawn care. Another service point I appreciate are the emails PGG sends to alert me of my service dates, any important related instructions and to educate me on the best ways of taking care of my lawn. Just started using this spring 2017 and so far the results are great. They did soil testing and confirmed that our clay based yard needed lime, gypsum and lots of TLC. They added top soil to some depleted areas, spot seeding and weed control, all over a period of 3 months. Granted, this not the cheapest service out there, but I have had a shabby lawn for 5 years with another service and our lawn is worth too much to skimp. Two of our neighbors have spent $5-10K or more on new lawns and in ground sprinklers trying to improve on the clay base that this neighborhood was built on and our results are so far keeping us on the positive side of the property value curve. The organic practices that Pleasant Green Grass employs attracted us to them for our lawn care a few years ago. This year, as aging boomers, we decided to reduce the size of the lawn by extending the beds in an effort to reduce the need for watering and mowing. Chad created a plan, selecting drought tolerant, native and non-native plants that add color and texture to the beds. We are pleased with the results and look forward to watching the plants mature. Chad's landscape plan included a three-part installation process that helped us budget for the project. The landscapers and lawn crews are careful to clean up when finished. Scott and his team did an amazing job this past fall (Oct 2016) of expanding the back yard (and installing new lawn) of our newly constructed home. The job entailed a lot of de-stumping, tilling and compost amendment to prep the area before seeding.They were even able to come out several weeks before it was scheduled, which was great. The price was fair, they did a great job and his team was very friendly. I tend to be a DIYer (for the most part) when it comes to lawn maintenance, and Scott is also very knowledgeable and generous about offering his advice so that I can make the right decisions. When I need help in the future, I'll certainly call on Scott and his team again...and will continue to recommend them to others! read more

Pleasant Green Grass folks are like family to us by now. They come by quickly and quietly and do their good work and if you chance to catch one of their workers in action and begin a conversation, you will quickly realize that these are people who love and take pride in their company. If you are familiar with the "devil strip" that runs between sidewalks and the street, then you know it is an almost impossible place to get grass to grow. At first, we didn't include the devil strip in our yard's care plan. But once we did, it became a shining example of the difference that organic lawn care can make. Mark and Bridgett were both great to work with, and their work crew is amazing too - super hard workers, friendly, polite. Mark is very creative and knowledgeable, and will work with you to make your ideas a reality, while adding in suggestions of his own if you want them. I have a difficult, very shady back yard, and Mark was very flexible and enthusiastic as we refined the plan to come up with a great solution for what to do with it. I had a lot of questions, which were all responded to quickly. I am very, very pleased with the result. Mark also took care of some drainage issues for me. I will be using Pleasant Green Grass again in the near future to do some additional work on the front side of the house. read more

Every time I have spoken with Scott, the owner on the phone I have been very pleased by his knowledge and manner and willingness to explain the problems with my lawn and the possible solutions. And, each person that has come to our home to do what is needed on our lawn has been very helpful and relaxed and willing to stop and answer any questions we may have. Our lawn is looking better each year also, and, it looks much more vibrant and green than the pesticide lawns. HORRIBLE RESULTS after two years...last year we had the worst crab grass ever after a year of service. They told us it would be "significantly "better this year and recommended we get a 400$ organic topcoat to help. We did this (our fault) and we have MORE CRAB GRASS THAN EVER THIS YEAR. The website says "guaranteed satisfaction" and if we were not 100% satisfied then "someone will be set out immediately to fix the problem, no questions asked"...well we are 0% satisfied and all i get is emails saying to "give it some time" or to add another 400$ treatment. Scott and crew do excellent work. We had them replace our fescue front lawn a few seasons ago with zoysia. They did a top notch job w/ the installation and the zoysia lawn remains in excellent condition after a few growing seasons. We almost never have to water the zoysia and it stays nice and green all summer. We now use them for both warm season (zoysia) and cool season (fescue) lawn programs. We especially like how they use organic / natural products. And this year, they completed a soil analysis for us in order to fine tune our lawn programs. Good folks who do quality work. read more

My concerns with the traditional lawn services were about the toxic ingredients applied on lawns. From the beginning, the staff answered all of my questions and explained in detail what was expected of me after their applications of products.
