This place was great. My friends and I went here for dinner and each ordered something different. The restaurant was well decorated and when you sit down a guacamole cart comes to you to see if you are interested. The Guacamole is made table side, and totally suggest you do it. The guacamole was wonderful. It was just spicy enough with the hint of the lime at the end. A friend of mine got the fajitas three ways, steak, chicken and shrimp, this has a slight smokiness to it. Another got the steak trio which again is just steak, chicken and shrimp but it's served with a sauce I had the street taco six pack. The tacos come with pickled onions hidden under the limes so don't miss them. Everything was very good. The refried beans were so good, while the rice was a little bland. the desserts smelled wonderful but by the time we got done we didn't have any room for anything else to be added, try to get a booth as the table chairs are really uncomfortable. Service was slow but they were busy so don't go expecting prompt and attentive staff.

My first impression when I walked in the restaurant: Wow, it is beautiful! The walls got those big, glow in the dark, day of the dead theme paintings. The lighting, the furniture, the bar are all eye - catching decorated. They have extensive menu from popular Mexican dishes to seafood to sushi and cocktail drinks. I ordered a lunch special chicken chimichanga. It was quite good. I liked the flavor and texture. It wasn't very salty. The roll was full of chicken meat. The portion was normal not particularly big, but it was enough for me as lunch. There were chips and salsa before the meal arriving. They have enough stuff members; service was fast and attentive. Spanish songs as background music provided such chill vibe. Good food and service, excellent atmosphere, easy parking-this place is awesome.

A group of us came here to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, and while we expected a bit of a wait with a party of 12, nearly two hours was tough. We arrived around 6:30 PM and weren't seated until well after 8:00. The restaurant had noted they weren't taking reservations due to the holiday, but you could join a waitlist upon arrival--which we did. What made it more frustrating was watching other large groups linger at their tables after finishing, leaving just one person behind to "hold" the spot while they went out to enjoy the festivities. Meanwhile, we saw smaller groups being seated, which made the wait feel even longer. Once we were finally seated, service started off a bit slow. It took some time for staff to come by, and when our food arrived, multiple servers were bringing out dishes without clear organization--walking around the table until someone claimed each plate. That said, the food itself was a highlight. I ordered the Chicken Quesadilla Fajita, which was delicious and a generous portion--enough for leftovers. I also tried the mango margarita; while it leaned more toward an orange flavor than mango, it was still enjoyable. The atmosphere was vibrant and fun, especially for Cinco de Mayo. There was lively music, colorful and creative wall art, and even a photo-op wall, which added to the experience. Parking, however, was another challenge--it was chaotic, with cars parked on curbs and anywhere they could fit. Overall, while the wait and initial service were frustrating, the food and atmosphere made it a memorable visit. I'd be willing to give it another try on a regular day to see how the experience compares--and to explore more of the menu, since everyone in our group enjoyed their meals.

Obsessed with this place! The best Mexican food I've found in Tampa since I've moved here. The vibes are so fun, it's very high energy and family friendly. I have yet to try anything that I haven't liked. Service can be a little slow sometimes but it's because they're always busy no matter what time of the day you go.

First time trying this Mexican place and it caught me by surprise! The menu is extensive and the atmosphere is fun and vibey. Go hungry as the portions are generous and fit for sharing. I've got the stone pot El Dorado which has a whole fish alone with seafood mixes, and it was delicious. The table side fresh guacamole is a must with their non stop chips and salsa. If you enjoy a margarita, get the jumbo and you will not be disappointed. Highly recommend!

This food was delicious. We even got non alcoholic horchatas for our beverage. The food had such great flavor. They serve hot chips and salsa when you get seated. The waiter took our order and the food was ready pretty quick. He was a really good waiter. The decorations are day of the dead. The murals on the wall were beautiful. This was worth the visit. Will be visiting again soon.

Wow! How much fun is this adorable Mexican joint?! I never knew this place existed so I'm super glad that my aunt picked it out as a treat for my birthday. The way they celebrate birthdays makes me want to come here every year! First off, the menu is HUGE. Lots of food options - even sushi! I actually think I saw pasta on their menu too. I had a medium mango margarita on the rocks (which turned out to be a gigantic drink). We ordered the queso with the complimentary chips which was so good it almost completely ruined my appetite. For my meal, I ordered the chicken chimichangas. My only complaint about this dish was that the chimichangas were not really deep fried. They did come smothered in their delicious cheese sauce, but they were more like burritos than chimichangas to me. My aunt had the steak which was presented beautifully with a bell pepper cut into the shape of a flower. Service was solid. Our server was super nice and attentive to our needs. The best part of our visit was the animated birthday song with sparklers, and complimentary tequila shot (video attached). You MUST visit this Mexican place, stat.

Plaza Tapatia is a fiesta for the senses--bold flavors, lively atmosphere, and warm hospitality all in one stop. The birria tacos were absolutely spot on, juicy, flavorful, and served with a decline consommé that I could happily drink by the cup. The tableside guacamole was another star--fresh, zesty, and customized right in front of you. You can taste the difference when it's made this fresh. Service was friendly and quick, and the menu has plenty of variety for every taste. Definitely a great spot for groups or family dinners.

Pros: Wonderful Day of the Dead art/murals all around and even on chairs. A large interior dining space. Open 7 days a week up to 10 pm The parking lot is adequate. Great and quick service from everyone Strong and large alcoholic drink menu. My frozen Mango Margarita was great. You can even customize what type of rim seasoning With sugar, salt,or spicy 9/10 There is a very large menu with almost all type of protein choices and customizable elements. The free Chips were warm and crispy and the salsa was a good medium consistency with a homemade flavor. Prices range from $20-$70 on average for entrees. Very large portions. I was a bit taken back by prices. This is not a simple cafe or take out place but the portions are large. There was a place in Armature Works that sells a Godzilla Burrito but this restaurant steals the crown lol Cons: I ordered the California burrito as that was one of the cheaper options and I was dining alone. It had carne asada steak, French fries, guacamole so it was accurate. However, there was no seasoning on the beef and it tasted bland. The other ingredients were fresh and the fries were crispy. It was too big to finish so I took it home. I've had better at Los Chapos and 1/2 places outside of Tampa. 7/10 The prices are higher than average for a Mexican restaurant so I would advise going with a group and ordering different items and sharing. It has a slightly raucous atmosphere like Texas Roadhouse so it isn't the best for an intimate date imo. I almost gave a 5/5 ,but the main entree has to be great to earn that despite all the ancillary elements being great. 4/5

Our first time, Saturday evening, 1/24/2026. Crowded, but found 2 seats at the bar. Ordered ribeye tacos that were good. The only downside is the constant birthday celebrations (they don't verify with an ID) - must have been 10+ in the span of an hour. LOUD music with a large sugar skull mask on the lead person (scary to children?) Everyone near us came to dread the celebrations as we, along with others started saying, "oh no not again"... had been eager to try this new spot. May not be so quick to go back.

This place is alright. Coming into the restaurant, it was beautiful. I loved everything about the decor. The chips and salsa were on point and that's hard to find in Florida but the food wasn't worth the price and we waited longer than the people next to us that got there before us and our food was cold. This is why I'm giving this place 3 stars. My dish was good, I ordered the three tacos and got Al pastor. I mean, how can you mess up tacos. But I was a little annoyed that I couldn't mix up the tacos with different meats for each taco. Never makes sense when a restaurant won't allow that when it costs the same no matter which meat option you choose. My bf ordered the carne asada with the chile relleno and eh that steak was dry and tiny .. not a real carne asada either because they use rib eye.. his relleno was just filled with flour , barely any of the chile ... the enchilada was good but cold , so it could have been way better if it was hot and the cheese melted. The margarita I ordered was ok, was not too flavorful but it did give me a good buzz. And one of us got the trash can beverage and he did not like it, there was too much sour mix in it.

AMAZING! It's hands down my FAV Mexican restaurant by far. We've been here 2x now and both have been excellent! Food tastes fresh and delicious. They have an extensive selection even including vegetarian options which I loved! Their drinks are also REALLY good. I've had the regular margaritas and most recently the sangria margarita. I think the sangria margarita is now my fav and what I'll be ordering every time. Only next time I'll get the small and not medium. Medium is HUGE and they don't hold back on the liquor so this mama was feeling gooooodddd lol. So good that I went home and went to bed. Slept like a baby lol. I've had their vegetarian bean and cheese enchiladas and love them. That my go to for my meal here just because it's so good. Hubs loves their fajitas and has gotten both times. Their chips and salsa are delicious and they even have a cart that goes around the restaurant where they make fresh guac! This place is very busy. Every time we've come it's been busy. Staff is friendly. A must try!!

So many nautical nods in the decor-rustic coastal-in sort of an 80s/90s way (love). You can almost taste salt in the air-you expect the Gorton's fisherman to walk in. Yes, I could settle in here for a while. And I did. There are chalkboard drink choices on the walls-and a large menu. Happy hour and daily specials add to the options. I asked my friendly and helpful server to help me choose. She was spot on. The onion rings basket was a thing of true beauty. That batter is incredible-so light, so melts-in-mouth good. I'd go back for them alone. (and to try the hush puppies and fried green tomatoes) But then came the main event: a gorgeous piece of fried haddock that hung wayyyy off the bun on both sides-and loads of tasty fries. I swapped out coleslaw for green beans. What a feast! This is a lot of food! And every bit of it was really tasty. The haddock was huge-and so well cooked. It was tender-flaky-with another light batter, that complimented the fish perfectly. I ditched the bun and ate it with a knife and fork. It was just yummy. The fries had a good crunch to them and the bowl of green beans was deep. This is a massive value for money! Oh! And the margarita was good, too! A little tangy-I like that! (There's a full bar area, if you care to belly up) My sweet server was easy to talk to and super efficient. She knows the menu inside and out-and reads her customers well and early. The restaurant was cozy and comfy-it's a casual spot, but well tended and very clean. You really do forget that the busy world is right outside the door. There's tons of parking, but beware on super rainy days-there are low spots in that lot. The water came up fast while I was there and another server warned us to check our vehicles and move them, if needed. I decided to make a dash for it-so didn't get all the pics I wanted-but that's just another reason (along with the scrod and the mahi taco, etc etc) to go back. The Great Catch is a great choice. You can trust the Gorton's fisherman!

You are looking at spending at least $98 for a family of 2 adults and 2 kids, no matter which restaurant you go to - it seems like the market does a good job at leveling the pricing competition between these restaurants. Crafty Crab is located essentially smack-dab in the center of Grand Plaza of the Carrollwood area. Our waiter/server was great and extremely patient with us as we contemplated our choices. He continued with the positive energy throughout the service which made our experience at Crafty Crab rather nice. ***Not sure if it was standard practice, but he offered to empty the boil bag onto the aluminum tray (compared to leaving it in the bag) as an option which made navigating the morsels easier in my opinion.
