Beware! We played the games to get enough points to get some Nee Dohs. Foolishly we spent too much money to get Nee Dohs for the kids. When we got home the kids pointed out how fake they were. Sure, they came in a Nee Doh marked box but it had no UPC, and no imprint on the squishy and it was wrapped in plastic. These bastards at Playcade knew they were selling fakes. I'm sure the other 'authentic" items they had were also cheap knock offs. Not sure if this is a Division of Consumer Affairs issue. You've been warned. read more

Playcade is a classic amusement arcade that opened in Atlantic City, New Jersey in the 1950s. Located on the Atlantic City Boardwalk, it is the city's longest established arcade. The arcade features a variety of both classic and modern amusements, including Ice-Ball (a variation of Skee-Ball), classic arcade cabinets, crane machines, rail-shooter games, pinball machines, and more. My family and I visited Playcade this past summer while we were on a road trip. I've turned my older son onto arcades in the past couple of years, and he was super excited when I told him that the Atlantic City Boardwalk has no shortage of them. We had visited the Lucky Snake Arcade a day earlier. That place is just HUGE, but I longed for a classic arcade experience and I knew that I could get that at Playcade. They had a nice mixture of old and modern games. The prices were pretty descent too. We played a few games of Ice-Ball and then my son and I enjoyed a few games of "Ice Man". The latter is a rail-shooter game where the players use mounted water cannons to shoot and freeze zombies. It reminded us a lot of "Plants vs Zombies", which we both love. I'm reviewing this based on the days I came here as a kid. I can't tell you how long this place has been around and obviously there's a reason why. When I would come with family we'd play some games and then get playcade money that we would keep until the next year when we went back and we'd get little arcade gifts. It's just something to do for a little to get out of the summer sun. I'm sure you throw money out the window just to get some tiny little figurine. As a kid I'm sure this is fun as an adult I'm not sure. But bring your family and try it out! read more

Asked an attendant and was told everything is down and it's very difficult???? to refund the money. Located conveniently on the Boardwalk not too far off from Tropicana. Rainy Saturday afternoon, had some free time before our next event, and came in. Throwback to 80s/90s old school arcades with mostly modern video and interactive games. The place is not very large, so the games are somewhat clustered together and tight, but doesn't take away from the fun you can have. Skewball, shooting games, basketball, Connect Four, quarter games, claw games and I think I saw Pac-Man in there too. All are reasonably priced at $1-$2 a game, with the majority needing a game card in order to play. There's 2 card machines available, and the manager is available for any issues. You can win tickets that can be traded for all sorts of prizes ranging from stickers to action figures to headphones...you'll have to play for days or hit up some PEDs to win big prizes though. There's a TON of sports memorabilia to see and maybe win as well. Not all of the games worked properly though, and can't see how the place would fit many people comfortably at a time, but be open to fun & you'll have a good time. You know how I know? The reason this location gets 3 stars is because of the manager for the day shift. My friends and I decided to stop by in the arcade after eating. It's small but it does have a lot of games. Most games are $1 $2 reasonable price. We decide to play the basketball machine game. It was great time. I seen the record was 84 points I came close to beating it. It was one of the workers record. My friends challenge him to play, and we would pay for it. The manager caught a attitude towards us and his worker. It wasn't like he wasn't engaged on the floor helping people. There were workers there also to help. We said we are going to pay for him to play. If I am a manager I would say ok but thats customer interaction, and plus we will spend more money which we didn't mind. He was very nasty about that. It rubbed us the wrong way and we left. I was here actually a little bit over two weeks ago so I can confirm that they were open and maintained mostly normal hours ( Friday I was there they were to be open until at least 6 pm or 7). This is an old school arcade had the real feeling of my youth or almost youth it was like coming into another place in Atlantic City. Maybe, this is a secret when you are going slow in the casino or losing some big money per hour, come to this place and spend $30 or 35 bucks and it will take your money a lot further (moneybags). I had fun and on this recent trip I stayed less than 1 hour and won about 10,000 tickets on those various tickets games. To judge what stuff could be worth in the real world, I got two packs of 2020 topps baseball cards and each pack was about 3,000 in tickets but I actually got lucky and received some decent cards. Wizard of Oz game is a great time waster and can help you win a lot of tickets in a short amount of time. This place is all the way down the Boardwalk and is right near Tropicana hotel. read more

I wanted to go to an arcade, and this was the closest to us. It's a small arcade on the boardwalk. The games were packed pretty tight in there. We walked around it briefly. It's a bit retro with PacMan and other games I already forgot. The guy working the counter (who was friendly and assisted us well) instructed us on how to exchange for quarters and obtain a gaming card. Some machines required quarters, others take the card. That was annoying. I'm not sure if the tickets are added to the card or not. My friend appeared to be unsure, but I saw about 2 games I wanted to play. The shooter we played actually shot out small balls. We did NOT expect that. It was entertaining on its own though. Kick butt and got my butt kicked in basketball. Won a small Hulk plushie from a crane game on the first try (HA!!!) Then my sidekick realized there was zero fighting games. No Street Fighter. No Tekken. None of it. That lead us to leave because what's an arcade without any fighting games. We tried to find other 2 player games, but there wasn't many. I did enjoy it though. read more

Kept running back and forth to see which machines had the red and green coins & card closest to the edge. So addicting. My husband worked hard to win me the prize I wanted to give my dog. Was on a boardwalk stroll with the girlfriend early in the morning and we saw the arcade was actually open, so we stepped in to relive our childhoods for a half hour. We were the only bodies in there the entire time, aside from the attendant. Playcade was spotless, clean, and inviting. The amount of games they have packed into a small space is impressive, as is the vast prize selection. Skeeball, ticket earning games, classics from the 80s, and more are waiting for you to play them. Highlight of the experience was the fact that everything is reasonably priced as if this arcade was transported from 1991 - just about everything costs just one or two quarters, no players cards or swiping needed; there's something Satisfying about the ping of the quarter going into the slot. Any place that has Speed Demon gets four stars, add the rest of what I listed above and it was an easy five star review for us. read more

Keep me away from that damn coin push game or I will spend my whole life savings on it! Whenever I am at this place I seem to pump in a thousand dollars worth of quarters to win only a few hundred back. It's like a sick addiction. Once you get hooked only intense therapy can cure you of it. There is just something about trying to aim that quarter in the right spot to get swept into the pile and knock over the quarters teetering on the edge. AHHHHHH!!!!!!! I have been here a bunch of times over the years. The games are cheap and fun. Many old school games like coin sweeper, whack a mole, and skeeball that pumps out tickets for prizes. This place ranks among my all time favorite arcades. We used to go to the arcade at steel pier, while we were in Atlantic City, which is a nice arcade as well. But, now we don't go that far down the boardwalk, so we go here. First of all, the staff: The staff is great here! They are helpful, funny, kind, and talkative. We are regulars here, so we always strike up conversation. Many times, you'll see the manager walking around, fixing a machine, chatting up some new faces, and old, or just talking with his employees. EDIT: New staff is not as friendly. Some may rush to get things sorted out. EDIT: New staff was only like that on Fourth of July weekend, they are now becoming a great new staff. Very helpful! :) The price: This arcade is pretty reasonably priced. Most games average from a mere quarter, to a dollar. All the games in my opinion, are worth the price. The cranes: The claw machine, or crane at Steel Pier, is rigged. All of them are, at that arcade. But here, at Playcade, most don't seem to be rigged at all. I have played their machines and won multiple times with just a few dollars. The cranes range from 50¢, to dollar or two. And not to mention, the prizes within the machine, aren't so bad. Although, you'll have a better chance with the machines on the left side of the arcade, than the right. (They are two separate rooms). Skeeball: A classic game that the whole family can enjoy, for 50¢. They will have tournaments at night, during summer, where you can rack up ticket cards. The daily giveaway: During the summer, you'll receive a giveaway ticket, or a few for the daily giveaway held around 9:00PM, I believe. If you have the winning ticket, you'll get 10,000 tickets! We've won this twice. The prizes: Fantastic prizes here! They used to have gift certificates to places like Tanger Outlets, for very little. 15,000 tickets = $25. What a deal! Playing fun games, for a cool prize. They have "luxury" items like Vera Bradley and Coach wallets, also for a number of tickets I can actually achieve. The prizes here are definitely better than Chuck E Cheese! Overall, this is one of the best arcades out there. Definitely go here, and bring the family. It's your typical boardwalk arcade - you have your fun games that give you tickets, you spend your tickets on fun little trinkets. We always have fun at this arcade. They have a lot of games and I actually think the staff is pretty great. When you need help at a game they respond quickly and if something breaks or a ticket doesn't distribute properly they are there to help. Also when redeeming tickets they have those scan guns and they just scan as you select your prize and keep a running tally up on a tv screen. They stay with you until you're finished so you're not waiting as they bounce from person to person with like 8 calculators. The one thing I will say is to NOT play the claw machines. We're pretty lucky with claw machines and I've never EVER won anything on them. That's not to say you couldn't but I think they're rigged more than others because I rarely see anyone winning on them. Other than that the other games are pretty fair and my kids always walk out with a great pile of junk which makes them happy. read more

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this arcade to death. Although the small selection of games, with forty bucks you could get a couple thousand points that could go to a prize your saving up for. Currently, I have more than ten thousand, and I'm saving up for something big. Unlike some arcades, its prize selection is very good. They have prizes from candy to electronics that you could win. My favorite machine is the claw machine that picks up the rings of tickets because it only cost fifty cents and you could get fifty tickets from that. This is also on the boardwalk, so the location is perfect. I love this place and I would definitely recommend this arcade to others and I would come here again and again. read more

We were in Atlantic City to celebrate Christmas. My 2 kids made sure we stopped by Playcade Arcade on Christmas day. We had been there several months ago in the summer. The goal was to finish the set of 7 Wizard of Oz cards. The hardest card to get is the ToTo card. But they did complete the set of 7. They were so happy, best Christmas gift ever! I have to say the employees at the playcade are the nicest people. The machine the pushes coins out kept on jamming. But they didnt want to switch machines because it held the rare ToTo card. The gentleman stood there any cleared the machine each time. The employees at the prize redemption are are very patient. Its hard to deal with the public and sometimes kids, but all the employees are so cheerful and friendly. They have a great selection of prizes. We happened to stumble across this arcade by accident, during our first ever trip to AC/while perusing the boardwalk. Our "stumble" quickly turned into a 3 hour event, where we had an absolute blast playing the arcade games there. They have a fun assortment of different games that we enjoyed, especially the Wizard of Oz game which can potentially provide many points/coins/cards in your future if you are determined enough! Staff was super friendly and helpful, and was even cheering us on (love that). This place is TRULY not out to get your $, they're simply there to provide an old pastime that many of us (myself included) had forgotten could be so fun! My kids look forward to our trips to Atlantic City so we can spend tons of time in the Playcade Arcade. First, I must say that the people who work here are super nice and patient. The arcade is open 365 days per year from 9:00 a.m. to midnight. Each visit to Atlantic City, we go back multiple times per day. The new game - Wizard of Oz - gives you the thrill of gambling in the casino, but more fun, because everyone is a winner. We went Christmas Eve and they had a drawing for 10,000 tickets. (we lost this time, but we had one over the summer). There are prizes for everyone and the cards/tickets do not expire, so save them up, if you want. read more

A lot of fun! I dragged my friends here in search of skeeball, and there was plenty, plus some other fun games. Nothing too new or shiny, but still good. The quarter jockeys (whatever you call those guys) were funny and ran a raffle at 10pm for 10k points. I have been coming to Brigantine and Atlantic City on family vacations for about 23 years and Playcade has been a big part of those trips. We started to take our nieces and nephews initially and now our own kids ask "will we go to Playcade?" when we plan a trip to Atlantic City. We have been to several arcades along the Jersey Shore, and the one thing that stands out about Playcade is they are not out to rip you off. They want you to win so you keep coming back. The staff that works there seem to enjoy their job, and make you feel at home. In all honesty, I'd rather blow a few bucks here than the casinos; at least I will walk away with a prize. :) read more
