My friend and I were completely ignored and did not get any Spanish lessons, Salsa lessons, tours to museums etc. It took multiple emails to even get reimbursed for our hotel expenses. My wife and I did just that for five weeks, three hours per day and five days a week this Spring. No we did not become fluent. However we did learn enough of the "right information" from our very capable linguistic instructors that we can confidenly comunicate on a retail level, read most tourist information in Spanish and my wife can comunicate quite well on social and business levels. (She did have several years of latin in her background.) Our instructors were fun and patient with our struggle to speak the words we were trying to find in newly acquired vocabulary and trying to articulate them into a challenging sentence structure. Bottom line is we are going to have to continue the educational process so maybe we'll see you at El Nopal on a sunny spring La Paz day.

Not only did they take us surfing and teach us quickly how to get up and ride- and they did that with so much patience. They showed us the best parts of Mexico- we went to Cerritos to surf. We went to Todos Santos to see the Hotel California and had an AMAZING lunch with the locals - delicious fish tacos. You have access to your board through the rest of the day, and an umbrella courtesy of Mario Surf School. We learned just how vital our instructors were, as we still are not fully capable of catching a wave on our own. Jose was so patient with us and spent two hours in the water getting us on every wave possible -- exhausting work. Our lessons were initially booked for three consecutive days, but after two consecutive days of surfing, we were fried. The supervisor was flexible and allowed us to rebook our final day for another time, allowing us to recuperate and stretch our tired muscles. I definitely recommend taking some time in between lessons if you are a first-time surfer.

They have high quality gear and a knack for coaching you past your faults. I had tried kitesurfing twice prior to this trip in Cabarete but didn't really get it until now. Towards the end I was able to consistently go upwind. They use a quad to retrieve you so you get max boards time and they are with you on the radio the whole time analyzing what you're doing and providing helpful advice. I strongly recommend them as instructors. You will also be good friends by the time you leave because they are kind people ontop of being skilled instructors.
