Total Playa Bowls fan here! You're always greeted with a smile at this location. Love the decor but think they should have someone professionally clean from time to time the orders are made accurately and usually done pretty quickly. The last two times, I had to wait because they were working on mobile or DoorDash orders. It is a little frustrating when you are the only person there and waiting for one or two items and they are working on multiple orders. The last time I waited almost 20 minutes with no one else in the location. I thought it would be easier just to make my bowl and let me leave, but I guess not! The very last time they ran out of açai and didn't let me know so I ended up waiting a half hour before I reached out and asked if there was a problem with my order. the food is always fresh and delicious! however the only thing i will say is on wednesday 4-29-26 when i got an acai bowl the acai did not taste as fresh as it normally does. the other thing to note is that on the menu it still says coconut flakes but it's actually sweetened coconut shreds which are completely different. all the other bases taste the same it's just the acai. i wonder if they have switched the quality of the acai read more

I live 30 minutes outside of town. I stopped by playa bowls before I headed home and ordered two bowls. The girls working were too preoccupied with gossiping to each other to make sure that my order was correct. I ended up taking home two bowls that were not only incorrect but had bananas in them which my boyfriend is extremely allergic too. They didn't even bother to bag the bowls before I left and acted like I was interrupting conversation when I asked for one. Hit or miss location but great chain. read more

I love the smoothies.. however recently, we ran into an issue where we realized that you get charged almost 5% more if you use a credit card vs cash. There was a sign off the right of the cash register where it's very easily missed if you were looking to the left to look at the menu. The cashier didn't even mention that there would be an up charge. He mentioned they had the sign however, it was surrounded by other things around it. My mother in law mentioned that they should let folks know when they ask "cash or credit". However the cashiers response was "that's against policy". That's very deceiving and dishonest. It's quite normal for people to resort to credit vs carrying cash around. Even gas stations will let you know in large signs while checking out that there will be an up charge for credit. Usually a pleasurable experience at the Middletown Playa. I order ahead and pick up. Never a problem with my order. Not this time. They missed ingredients and you'd think I would get an apology or a "welcome" after I said Thank you upon receiving the correct order. I frequent the Newark, DE location from time to time and if you've ever been, you know they rock. This location is HUGE by comparison and beautiful, the art on the walls is so vibrant and makes you feel like you're at the beach. Friendly staff, and delicious bowls. Have yet to try a juice or smoothie, but I can recommend Ocean Ave (a green bowl) and the Olas bowl, which is a banana bowl. Everything is customizable and they inform you of health benefits per your ingredients on signage. Fresh and delicious!! And FILLING!! I can never finish my bowl lol. read more

I've been going to playa bowls in Newark and I can say they are absolutely amazing! Their bowls are always consistent and their customer service is outstanding, unfortunately I can not say the same about the Middletown location. I've been there a few times now and every time my bowl is lacking something, my online order is messed up and the customer service isn't as good as the other location. It's convenient since it's closer to where I live but still prefer to go to the Newark location read more

We stumbled upon this gem on our most recent drive and it was the best find on a trip! We had two chia bowls, they were both super good. Their packaging is compostable, and the bowl we got had lids that matched so we took them with to reuse them. Great business, great food, the owner was awesome and helped us navigate the menu. love this place! i used to work here and i can verify this is a great restaurant. much care is put into each bowl or order and only the best ingredients are used! playa really cares about its customers and employees. some of my favorites include the dolce smoothie(extra pb), the booster bowl(with walnut and bee pollen) and the stupid cupid bowl! super healthy and makes you feel great after you eat it. not only are there all the choices on the menu but you can customize your bowl to include WHATEVER you want! read more

I and very disgusting and disappointed with Playa bowls... for one it was not clean whatsoever and it took for ever just to get a smoothie and a bowl. There were no spoons and it took a worker 10 minutes to put ONE SPOONN in the holder. I have been coming to this location since it's open only out of convenience because the newark location is farther from me. At this point I expect something to go wrong whenever I come here but this time in particular was very disappointing. I had come inside with my sister and the person at the register (an older white woman) was very dismissive and cold. Either she made mistakes when putting in the order or the kid that made it messed it up but the portions are completely wrong (yes I know I am a customer and no I don't make them myself or have been taught how but after going to this chain for 5 years I know right from wrong), things I asked to be removed were still on the bowl, while I was at the register I saw a bowl base being made (the banana and strawberry one) and it looked really pink and I was like what's that one and she explained it was made that way for someone with an allergy that couldn't eat bananas (this was a strawberry and bananas and I said "can I have a double base with the açaí and that stuff with just the strawberry" and I ended up receiving it as banana and strawberry instead of just strawberries. I do not eat bananas couldn't eat what I paid 12$ for. Basically they suck ass. The teenagers that work there are sweet but don't know what their doing. The manager lady I'm assuming needs to be a little more personable. And for heaven's sake retrain these people on serving sizes. I'd kill to walk around the counter and make my own bowl. read more

I do doordash. I came here to pick up a order and I was thinking of ordering for myself as well. The woman in the front who is Caucasian and heavy set was rude. She claimed she needed me to have the doordash bag to give me the food. I have been doing door dash since the app has come out. No one has to ever told me they need me to have a bag to give me any food related items. I did not tell her how to do my job but she felt entitled to tell me how to do mine.
