This was wonderful! Such a cute store with great decor and the staff was so nice and welcoming. We stopped in on our way to go bowling and got the mermaid bowl with mixed base of the coconut and the pitaya. It was delicious! Everyone there was very nice and helpful with answering any questions I had. I wanted to try two of the bases for variety, and I was not disappointed. The coconut is lightly sweet and creamy and the pitaya tastes like dragonfruit so it's fruity and a bit tart. They mix well together and the toppings just accentuate the flavors. We tried the elderberry shot and I did NOT expect that it was spicy because I didn't notice it had cayenne. It was tart with a spicy aftertaste. Inconsistent bowls. We ordered the kale bowl and it looked like it came straight out of the freezer. We had to chip at the ice block to be able to eat it. I did go to an elite event here at Playa Bowls, located at Halcyon in Alpharetta, Georgia. I have already put in a Yelp for this, but wanted to do it again outside of the elite group. It was delicious, bright and colorful, and there was minimal seating, but most people purchase their orders to go. The staff was very friendly. I've been to Playa Bowls a few times for yelp events at different locations and they never disappoint. This location is in the Halcyon. Paid parking right out front or park for free in the garage if the weather is okay! Service has always been fast and friendly. Super beachy vibes inside and a huge menu of bowls and smoothies. There is also a cold case with some juices and ginger & elderberry shots. I was next door getting a facial and knew I wanted to pop in before going home to grab a bowl. Hubs got the kowabunga smoothie and loved it. The stupid cupid bowl has become my absolute fave! It is a special bowl and I am going to be so sad when it goes away! Strawberry and banana base, cocoa nibs, coconut flakes, granola, nutella and white chocolate drizzle, and fresh strawberries. It is dreamy, y'all. I kinda already want another! The one thing I'll say is if you get something with a drizzle on top and get it to go, you will lose all the topping when they put the lid on. I would suggest either asking to bury the topping or eat some before you put the top on. I didn't want to waste a lick of those drizzles so even though I was taking it to go I got it without the lid and ate enough in my car before we left to put the top on leaving the Nutella and white chocolate unscathed. Okay I see the hype. I had a few friends tell me how much they loved Playa Bowls! I was so grateful there was a yelp event here. I ordered the Pura Vida bowl - acai, blueberries, strawberries, honey, and oats! It was so delicious! I love the granola here... make sense why they sell it by the bag because WOW! My tastebuds were screaming. The açaí consistency was smooth and thick, I enjoyed it melting into my mouth. The size was huge! Definitely can eat it as a meal. It's a great alternative if you want something sweet, cold, and healthy! There is a parking deck that is in walkable distance. It is free to park there. 3 minute walk from this location. The servers were friendly & offered to answer any questions I had. The decor gives an island feel. FOOD: I ordered the Electric Mermaid, which seemed to be popular. It has a load of fruit. Everything tasted fresh. I enjoyed trying to get a little of each thing in one bite. The mangos & pineapple were the perfect addition for natural sweetness. The size was also enough for two. This is great if you're looking for a healthy sweet treat. Definitely worth trying out. I'll probably try their bowl with banana & Nutella next time because those are great flavors to combine. Visited this location on their grand opening! The power bowl (12$) was amazing! It had chocolate protein in it and granola, peanut-butter, honey, and bananas in it. Very filling and delicious! The vibe in here is so fun! They have a beautiful painting of a mermaid on the wall and lots of other fun decor as well! I'm looking forward to being a regular here! A little pricey for what it is, but definitely worth it in my opinion. My go to is the Nutella Açaí bowl with half açaí base and half chia pudding base. I find the açaí base to be too sweet and not filling enough so pairing it with chia pudding creates the perfect balance if you do not mind the look/texture. Very generous with the amount of toppings. I've never received a bowl that wasn't overflowing. Really good smoothies too although expensive compared to some smoothie companies, but I can't go here and not get my açaí bowl so I rarely order smoothies here. Usually pretty quick with getting your order ready and has plenty of seating indoors if you choose to eat it there. read more

Not only do they have acai as the base, but they also do mango and dragon fruit which is kinda rare to find. The acai bowls taste really good. Posting this as part of a yelp elite experience I feel I have been living under a rock as I have never tried açaí bowls or other fruit bowls before. This event was perfect to try a new way to dessert. The vibe is very laid back, casual and limited seating and maybe more of a grab and go model They are going for. The front staff was so friendly, energetic and recommended the pura vida or Nutella in açaí bowls. I landed up favoring the Pitaya bowl (tropical pitaya, pineapple, coconut milk) in the dragon berry option (strawberry and blueberry with granola+honey). The bowls are delicious and are big enough to share. That said I couldn't tell the sugar content or calories. So maybe they can add that on the paper menu. Tbh I didn't ask or look on their website. Maybe it's already up there) The gingershot was a nice boost for an after workout and would be definitely visiting playa bowls again to try their other flavors. I was really craving an açai bowl on a hot summer day in Atlanta. I found Playa Bowls when strolling through Halcyon and my mind was made up! They had all kinds of açai bowls, pitaya bowls, green bowls & smoothies listed on the giant chalkboard menu. There wasn't a wait so I quickly ordered a Tropical Bowl which I had ordered before at the South Florida location. It only took another 2-3 minutes to get my bowl & I was so excited to eat it! I stopped in at Playa Bowls after my workout, before closing and I wanted a fresh juice but unfortunately they were already closing up so they couldn't prepare it. I ended up getting one of the prepackaged juices instead. It had apple, ginger, and turmeric it was over $8 for a 12 ounce bottle---way overpriced but it tasted pretty good. I have ordered from this establishment twice from work added a Celsius water but never received them but always refunded for them.

UPDATED REVIEW: So I do believe it was a bad day or the girl working that day was not doing her work properly. I did go back after the incident and was told that the joji berries don't blend which I didn't believe because they have blended plenty of times prior to my incident. I have been back around 3 times and order the same thing and the consistency has been the same. I do recommend. I need to be better with names so I can just share who to avoid when ordering. Then I inquired about my smoothie because I'm confused & I was polite when asking. They say sorry we're working on it now I say nothing and sit back down. I get my smoothie about 5 minutes later and just leave because I have an attitude and don't want to be unnecessarily rude about a smoothie because it's really just a smoothie. I get in the car driving home and start drink said smoothie and it's so chunky not blended it's like they blended it for 2 seconds , I'm chewing the pineapples and jogi berries like I'm so confused on what the issue was but personally while it's the only smoothie place near me . I'd rather just door dash better quality else where.
