What a cool place to play for kids! Came here for a kid's birthday party, and my son had such an awesome time! This is one of the coolest children's museum play spot that I've ever been to. The details inside are so cool!

Really great, easy to schedule and plenty of room to play. Great option for toddler kids on a cold day. I would recommend a bit more padding under the slide for a softer landing for those still learning how to stop at the bottom. We loved the duplo train table. Fairly clean and the attendant was actively sanitizing the area as we played.

I made reservations for us (4 year old and I) in advance for a day school was out (we went on a Monday). It is very clean and not many kids were in the time slot we had (0830-1000). The rooms are cute and clean, but overall I will say the space is small. *This is in comparison to the Little Towns Children Museum in Maryland if you've been.* As a parent I do love that they give you a token to give to your child at the end of their time to receive a snack (which they had a good amount to choose from) to send you on your way. Would recommend, just wish the space was bigger.

Start to finish - the best little play space! Super bright and very clean, welcoming staff, distinguished play areas and everything looks brand new! From pretend play rooms (vet, house, fire dept, doctor's office, grocery store, cafe, recycling truck) to areas of focus (lego/train set, coloring stations, holiday themed setup - pumpkins for halloween, books, carpet area for toy vehicles) - we were so impressed! We have a creative 5 year old who RAN into this space and immediately went to the lego train area after surveying the whole space, then took his time to investigate all the other areas. We easily booked a 2:30-4pm time slot on a Friday afternoon and it was pretty empty so we had a lot of space to move around. We also booked a slime add-on which was great (took about 5-10 minutes and we did at the end of our stay) - he got to select the colors and items inside the slime and was really excited about the whole process and of course taking it home. We were visiting from NYC so to us the space felt big and plentiful. Also, they give each kid a token at the beginning of the play time to "cash in" on a snack on their way out - genius move to have something to look forward to when trying to get kids to leave! Much applause for this smart thinking! Lots of seats for parents/caretakers, free wifi, and restrooms! We will be back for sure!

It's close proximity means that I have a go-to spot to bring the kids on school breaks, rainy days, cold days, or whenever we simply have nothing to do. While there are a few standing exhibits, the staff does a really good job at changing things up (and keeping things topical) so each visit feels special. And the best part... SLIME. We've made slime conductors, spider slime, fluffy slime, snowflake slime, glow-in-the-dark slime .. basically alll the slime. The experiment lab always has a slime option and it is a highlight of every visit. My eldest daughter went from barely reading and needing help at the beginning of our membership to fully reading and creating experiments on her own. It is so much fun to see. For the littles, there is a small playroom with building blocks, magnatiles, books, and those large blue fort/construction material building materials. My two-year old loved spending time in this room but now that she is three she likes making her own hovercrafts and setting them sail in the wind tunnel. The staff is SO kind, SO helpful, and so passionate about what they do. I love how they offer volunteer/internship opportunities to teens and will also set up special traveling science labs to Title I schools. If you are a member you also get discounted or free visits to children's science museums all across the United States which has made this membership 100% worth it for our family. If you are looking for an experience gift to give a little one this year, I highly recommend the Children's Science Center!

I was worried there wouldn't be enough activity for her age but she had a blast playing with exhibits and blocks in the interactive room. She also made "play dough" as an experiment. I booked the option two party about three months in advance. What's great is that you just select a theme from the pictures they have they send you a digital invite to send out and as you get close to the party date, they'll confirm the theme and give you an idea of what the schedule is. That's it that's literally all you have to do. Honestly, if you were to just walk in the door without anything in hand other than a child, your 90 minute birthday party would go off without a hitch. They had the cupcakes, the utensils, the balloons, the beautiful room set up and they had the goodie bags. Honestly, a lot of the parents gave us a compliment on organizing the party and how much fun they had and I felt weird taking any credit for it. We had an assigned party planner that was very invested in making sure everything was running on time and that the room was set up perfectly to our needs. And at the end of the party, they packed everything up for you. What's wild is they actually packed everything back in the original containers organized and ready to go. And then these poor people had to re-organize all the toys that our party had demolished and dragged a different corners of the room all within 30 minutes. I hate planning, and hosting events gives me a lot of anxiety, so to have a party go off successfully with my minimal involvement is amazing.

First of all, the concept of a pretend Main Street USA with shops with all kinds of props and working cash registers with play money inside is brilliant. I remember playing pretend shop keeper with my brother and cousins as kids and we would have loved this place. Secondly, the place is very well maintained and has plenty of space for the more active kids to just run around from shop to shop. My wife loved it so much she booked one of their other locations for our son's birthday which is many months away.

I cannot say enough great things about this place. The locations is always clean and well maintained. There are 3 total floors with activities ranging from water play, to puzzles, to physical activities. My kids favorite attraction is of course the but slide. We do this no less than 5 times every time we visit. There are rotating attractions in addition to their standard ones (grocery store, gas station, a restaurant, water play, and more) and annual holiday themed activities. Our favorite by far was the Halloween parade and dance party. Each visit would include several interactive activities as well, giving you a variety of things to do, which is helpful if your kids get tired of routines. We easily spent 2 1/2hrs here on any given visit and I've never had a bad experience. A membership pays for itself in 2 visits and my kids always enjoy their time here. I decided to get passes to the science museum this year because I thought my kids may have aged out (7&8) but they still talk about how much they loved Port Discovery. Like any place that caters to children you have the expectation of unruly kids and germs. Be kind to the workers, bring your patience and some antibacterial wipes and you'll be fine. If you have children aged 5-8 I would say this place is ideal for them.

The displays do change, so there's always something new to see when we've gone thru. The big draw at the time, the Space Shuttle Columbia and a Skunkworks SR-71. Both highly impressive, more on that later. We arrived on a Monday just after it opened at 10am. It was like Romper Room with all the unruly kids blocking the entrance and cause a disturbance. Sadly the chaperones didn't seem to care. No entry fee to visit the center, there's even a free bus of you have an extended layover in IAD, but parking is $15. Still well worth the cost without the crowds in DC visiting the other museums. There are some great exhibitions! Lots of aircraft from a SPAD to a JSF. It was neat to see some private aviation aircraft along with lighter than air and aerobatics. The commercial side of aviation was a bit lacking. Yes, the Concorde is very impressive but neurons that and a Dash-80, annotation seemed to end about 1995. The space exhibitions were excellent. The Columbia was highly impressive to walk around and take in this has been to spaces numerous times and the first shuttle in space. Satellites, modern mission equipment, like Mars explorers AB's various heavy boosters. Was neat to see equipment from the early years of NASA, Mercury, Gemini and the legends who made history. The Vietnam and Korean displays were some of the best from MiGs to F-14s to the JSF. Really awesome to get up close and personal with these aircraft AB's pilots who flew them. The SR-71 is attire the display in the middle of the center with lots of information on its, little more than hour flight time from LAX to IAD. Just so much to see. But something you can do in a few hours, or all day off you want to read AB's experience all there is. Not as overwhelming as the Air & Space Museum but still highly impressive from young kids to aviation enthusiasts and everyone in between. Highly recommend this stop!
