Always on the lookout for new parks, we came across Clemyjontri as we wanted to see if there was any good parks around the area. Celmyjontri looked like it was the best that was close by. They have a merry go round, and is a big park. Enough for kids of all ages to run around and get rid of all their energy. The carousel though is open on weekends and is $5 per ride. You can also open for private events, but I don't know how much extra that would be. It seems that it's a pretty popular park for birthdays as every time we've been here there was a party going on. Overall, this is a great park and if you have kids, is definitely a place to check out. read more

This is the COOLEST park I have ever taken my toddler to! He instantly acted like he was in heaven and laughed his sweet face off until he was tuckered out. So many unique and awesome equipment pieces for all ages! I love the soft ground and lack of many wood chips and sand. 10/10 would recommend! So many stimulating colors too. Definitely one of the best playgrounds I've seen in any area. The sheer size of the park, coupled with the variety of different activities along with safe(r) running surfaces and a big carousel that's adjacent to some good walking/biking paths ... all this makes for a great experience for families. Without doubt this is a terrific place for toddlers and young children to stretch their legs and play to their heart's content. It's also a relaxing place for parents as well. Mercifully there are also shaded areas which was very helpful for anyone looking to get some relief from the hot sun that does make some of the play areas feel super hot. I came on a hot day and there's no doubt the shady areas provide some much needed respite from the heat. This seems like a popular park given the number of kids and families I saw even on a Sunday evening. Parking was ample though, which is another bonus. read more

Have had an interesting life, and have had one young man, teach me more than anyone else. This is dedicated to him. He showed everyone to smile and laugh more, and against steep odds walked. First off I'm so grateful to the kind lady and her adult children, who donated land for Clemyjontri Park to become a reality. The name is some sort of version of their names combined with, and actually smiling typing this. What a wonderful thing to do. For years parents and families of special needs children, or people of all abilities, didn't have a completely user friendly park. This isn't to say Fairfax Park Authority isn't ADA compliant, because it is, and these good people will do everything to be supportive for all. Equality matters. Thank you to the Park Authority, and to volunteers and others, who make the Clemyjontri experience accessible! This park with its trains and sensory equipment is phenomenal. All people are welcome here. As a dad, it's my hope children of all abilities, will be playing with all children. There are studies that prove, on a scientific level how this benefits everyone. The playground equipment here is quite the experience. There is a lot to see and do. Only issue is minor and that is parking. Yes it is that popular, and the county was smart with its extra lot across Georgetown Park. Five stars as this can only be described as love. read more

This park was my son's favorite destination on our DMV trip. he was obsessed with the rainbow colors and numbers throughout the complex. This park is amazing for people who have children with disabilities being that they're all types of accommodations, such as wheelchair accessible, playsets and swings. the park is huge, and there is plenty of space for your little ones to run around and enjoy themselves. Came here on a Saturday with my 2 boys. It was so busy, it was absolutely overwhelming. Bathrooms had no toilet paper.

Overhyped. Clemyjontri is large, almost all of its equipment is unremarkable and exists at any common playground. The most unique aspects are the maze kids can run through, and the carousel in the middle. But the carousel was a bust, since it seems to run on a fairly infrequent schedule, and requires TIMED TICKETS! So on the Saturday we went there, the next available slots were 40 minutes out, so we were S.O.L. -- "Shut up and take my money!" Also, what playground has ZERO BIKE RACKS? It's bad enough that biking here with your kids is pretty dangerous, with no bike lanes on Chain Bridge Road. But when you arrive, you see they built a $6.5M playground, including pretend roads for kids, but LEFT OUT any official place to lock up bikes. Big oversight. As a parent of two who has seen dozens of playgrounds, I was underwhelmed, and would recommend Beauvoir Playground, The Fields at RFK, or Wheaton Regional Park over this place. read more

Many parents speak praises about Clemyjontri Park. Located in McLean, Virginia just off the highway, it's easy to access. There's a small parking lot, but we found a spot on a Saturday morning easily. The park itself is large. There's a carousel in the center, bathrooms (with stools for kids to reach the sink), a maze, a running kid train, and two areas with slides, monkey bars, etc. It's pretty awesome in terms of things they have. However, our daughter was unimpressed. She got bored of the park after five minutes when she LOVES playgrounds. We think maybe it was because the equipment is centered around younger kids (she's 2.5 years old). If you live close by, it's amazing, but I wouldn't drive out of your way to go. read more

The largest and one of the best playgrounds in Northern Virginia and the DMV area, especially for ages 2-5 years olds. I love this place because it's also a friendly place for children who use wheelchairs, walkers, etc. There are shaded area with benches for parents and picnic tables for parties. There's a carousel in the center of the park as well for $3 on weekdays and $4 on weekends and holidays :) Restrooms are located at the entrance to the park and free parking lot available (on busy days/hours it can fill up very quickly). read more

I am on the more risk-adverse end of the Covid spectrum, so I was nervous about taking my 2 toddler kids here. We ended up bringing them on a Friday at 4:30PM, when it was particularly cold and there was a 50% chance of rain. We hoped the playground would be deserted. And by Clemyjontri standards, it was deserted. But it was still pretty crowded. My best guess is that there were about 30 kids there (plus their parents). We tried to sanitize our kids hands periodically, but there's just so many things to touch. Fortunately it's been 4 days and no one is sneezing yet? As for the park itself, the train and carousel are closed due to Covid, but the rest of the playground is open. Our 1.5 and 3 year old loved it - they kicked and screamed when we tried to take them home. There's lot of bouncy toys, large vehicles to climb through, many swings, and multiple playground sets. Parking is limited, but we had no problem finding a spot on a work day evening. read more

What an awesome playground! There's so much to discover here, our little girl didn't know where to start. Here's how our hour and a half played out: "Do we start at the slides?" "Maybe the swings." "No, wait - the climbers" "Is that a drum circle?" "Oh my goodness there's a whole fleet of cars, trains and buses" "Wait...is that a maze??" It was such a joy to see her zig-zagging from one spot to another, interacting with the other kids, and having a blast. After we exhausted the playground, the $4 carousel ride was a perfect way to end our visit. The park is beautifully designed on astro turf (hallelujah) and with excellent equipment. While most of the equipment sits under direct sunlight (which, by the way, is good reason to bring a hat and sunscreen for your little one), there are plenty of benches and picnic tables under shade. There is also a designated space that can be reserved for birthday parties. For convenience, there are restrooms and vending machines. This'll be one to visit often for years to come! read more

My child lovingly refers to Clemyjontri Park as the "color playground". He would come here everyday and spend his entire day here if he could, and I can't say that I blame him. The park is huge and has several areas to play. There's a carousel that runs on the weekends and most of the summer. However, you have to buy tickets ($2 weekdays and $3 on the weekends). An adult can ride free if assisting a smaller child though! They also have a train that runs during the summer (tickets are $2 for kids and adults). The park does get packed on the weekends and on holidays so either go early or late in the afternoon if you want to avoid the crowds. The parking lot fills up quickly and even with their new expansion people still end up parking across the street. The great thing about this park is that every child no matter there condition can play here. In a wheelchair? No problem! There are swings and even the carousel can accommodate! Have a kid with sensory issues? No problem! There are areas for everyone to play. I hope the city does some touch ups and gives it a bit of TLC soon because it's starting to show some of its wear. For example, one of the slides has a split in it - not very safe for little ones. And there are multiple areas that could use some touch up paint because the colors are fading. (PS - the bathrooms can get a bit disgusting on the weekend so keep that in mind) Nonetheless, we love this park and will return as much as we can this summer (and fall...and winter...hah)! read more

It's been six years since my last review of Clemyjontri Park and a lot of things have changed. Instead of being "Cool Aunt Kimi" I am pretty much a badge wearing member of the Helicopter Moms Club. While times have changed, Clemyjontri Park still offers as much magical wonderment as when it first opened. My daughter was all smiles as she navigated this two acre park that was easily accessible even at her young age. The playground ramps were perfect for her to practice her running and she loved playing in all of the train, plane and excavator like structures. The real highlight of our trip was the train ride ($3 per person for two loops). With the wind blowing in her hair and the friendly people waving hello, it was the best way to ring in the weekend. A few pro tips: + They have a few picnic tables up for grabs and there is also a shaded pavilion that you can rent for parties. + Bring sunscreen -- there is little to no sun protection here! + Parking can be scarce, even on the weekends. Best playground for little kids hands down!!! The place is huge and my toddler loved running around (rubber floors). I definitely think it's more for kids under 7. The setup is nice since it's a huge circle. There's several shaded areas and since there's several sections around the circle it was easy to social distance. I also loved that I could push my stroller around easily with my infant. I highly recommend this as the best place to go let your kids run out their wiggles! Plus it is absolutely free!! So if you have little ones I recommend bringing them here for an hour or so. They will love it! read more

Clemyjontri Park is located right off of Georgetown Pike and close to 495. Parking - The main front parking lot is ALWAYS full. Shoulder areas for drop-off is available. Most drivers don't realize there is a second lot towards the back of the main lot and end up circling. The back lot HAS parking available. Worst case - park in the available lot across the street. Playground - Kids of all ages will find something to enjoy! Swings, maze, slides, puzzles, and so much more!!! + $3 carousel ride (I recommend purchasing a ticket immediately at the ticket booth and waiting for the carousel when the line is shortest). This is probably the biggest playground you will ever find anywhere around the northern va area. It is also knows as a fully accessible playground complete with wheelchair accessible equipment and swings, etc. There is a carousel in the middle and a train both of which you can ride if you buy tickets. There are bathrooms in the middle and several covered seating areas that people rent for parties and other events. The parking lot fills up FAST. By 9 am on weekends you will have to park in the spill over lot across the street and that fills up too so then you have to park down the road and walk even farther. This is probably the best free public playground and my go-to for my little dude. They have plenty of parking options. Everything in the playground is free except the carousel and train. Carousel is $2 on weekdays and $3 on the weekends. Train is $3 per ride. This place is huge. Lots of room to run around with plenty of playground activities for children of all ages. Like us, you can easily spend hours of your day here. There's also areas where you can set up a small picnic with your kids to relax. And if you want to host a kids party here, they have 2 areas which you can reserve and rent online. I'm happy to have stumbled upon this amazing place, and we'll be back many times again. read more

A short 20 min drive and we're at the coolest play ground. The turf ground is cushioned, so it gives the kids comfort for running and playing. Our little one loves this place and so do we! Parking can be a bit difficult to find, especially if you go on weekends. There is a small lot in front of the park and additional parking across the street. The park is spacious and there are tons of activities for kids to do here. Lots of room to run around. The two acre playground is broken down into 4 parts: The Rainbow Room, The Schoolhouse & Maze, The Movin and Groovin Transportation Area, and Fitness & Fun. There is also a carousel here. It's $2 on weekdays and $3 on weekends and holidays. There are picnic tables around the park. You can reserve them as well, if you want to have a birthday party or any other gathering. Restrooms aren't the cleanest. Water fountains and vending machines are available. read more

This is an awesome playground for little ones that can crawl really well and stand but are not quite yet walking. My son and I drove the 20 minutes to get here and spent about 2 hours, finding the longer drive, and passing many parks along the way, worth our time. We hung out on the "little" kids side mostly but we did take a peek at the big kids side as well. There were lots of "springy" toys in the shapes of animals and vehicles as well as a fun "springy" school bus. We enjoyed the swings, although I wish they had the kind that is made for an adult and child to use together. There were lots of tunnels and a fun maze that provided ample crawling opportunities. My son also really enjoyed the musical instrument section where he banged away to his hearts content. Picnic areas can be reserved and they all were on this beautiful fall Saturday when we visited. It looked like birthday parties. There is also a carousel that is $3/child (adults ride free), but be sure you get in line early so you can get a seat that is non-stationary. The surfaces here are also ideal for little ones; they can fall (and crawl) and not get hurt. There is a small parking lot and we found a space but overflow parking is available too. We would definitely return here in the future for a fun day of play! read more

I've heard about Clemyjontri Park for a long time and recently have had reason to be in the area and give it a few visits with my youngest. It's most appealing feature is the accessibility - there is equipment suitable for children of all ages and abilities. My daughter's favorite features are the giant maze (I love it too!), the rainbow poles, and the pretend vehicles. Aside from the free playground, there is also a carousel (never had the chance to have my girl use it as it's only operational on weekends) and a little train for a small fee. There are also some nice walking trails going around the playground. I've been here I think 6 or 7 times and it has NEVER been busy (visits have always been weekday mornings). There is always a big fat cat (seriously looks like a meanie) on the grounds that started following my daughter...it's literally been there every time we've visited and creeps me out. Also watch out for the birds in the bathroom (on our first visit there was a poor dead bird right in the middle of the women's restroom...). I don't know I'm curious as to when the park will get a little facelift as parts of it do seem a little run down/outdated (especially for such an affluent area). It truly is a great park that we like to visit if we are in the area, but if given the choice for a trek outside of DC to a playground, I'd choose (also free) Watkins Regional Park. read more

For parents with young kids who are unaware of this park (anyone here), let me introduce you to the best kids park in the DMW. Best for the available activities for kids to do - swings, climbers, see-saws, open area to run around, etc etc. All the above would definitely be more than the allowable 5 stars. But, this awesomeness also leads to this park's cons - crowd and parking! This place is a zoo during good weather days. Actually zoo is an understatement - more like subway train in Tokyo during rush hour (not that I have been there but have only heard from others). The overflow lot gets filled up quickly too and parents have to resort to parking on the grass on the side of Georgetown Pike over facing their kids' ire on not taking them to the park. My kids always have a blast here and the carousel ride during Summer makes a day at the park that much more special! read more

One of our favorite parks to go to. There's a lot of the same kind of play equipment but all designed in different ways so that kids are always entertained and see something "new" to try. The park is also always clean and though we didn't ride the carousel, the young lady working there was very kind and attentive while wearing a mask. Such a great playground for toddlers! There's nothing typical about this wonderland. It's quite a large play area and my twins, who are 2yrs old, can enjoy practically everything there. There's also a nice carousel and train ride that cost $3 each/person. The train ride is really nothing special. It's a bit rinky dink to me but what can I say, the kids love it. I've been twice now on a Sunday and arrived early. The parking lot was filled by 10:30am. This really isn't too much of a problem since they have offsite parking across the street. Awesome, one-of-a-kind park that's FREE and always filled with families when weather permits. Parking is FREE but can be a real pain, ~85% of the time. Although, after my most recent visit, I noticed that a much-needed second lot is in the process of being built, which will certainly improve the parking issue, to a degree.... But I'm guessing, due to the uniqueness of this park, and thus extreme popularity, the same thing might happen? Let's just hope for the best. Perhaps they can also somehow expand the overflow lot across the street? Carousel rides are $3 per child (with 1 free adult). Train rides are $3 per child (adults are required to get their own separate ticket). Also, tickets don't expire, so save it for your next visit if for some reason you don't get around to using it, or surprise someone and hook up a stranger! :) Wish they built more parks like Clemyjontri! What an excellent playground! I was blown away when we came for the first time due to the sheer size. This is a place your kids can totally keep distance without losing out on fun play time. There is a swing, slide and activity for every kid with every need. My kiddo loves to just run full speed ahead trying everything out and then we do a slower round from one side to the next. Welcome to yoga pants/gel perfect mani/pedi/soccer mom paradise! While the yuppy moms are gossiping and on their cell phones - the tots are running around this colorful and all accessible playground. All accessible? What does this mean? It means it is handicap friendly! The first one of it's kind in the state of Virginia located in McLean. It is the mecca of playgrounds and completely free to the public. I came here during a week day when I wasn't suspecting it to be super busy due to it being a bit chilly outside with the little boy I nanny for - I was sooooo wrong. We ended up having to park in the overflow lot across the street since the main parking lot was full with tons of luxury SUVs and minivans. My Corolla felt out of place. Once we actually got to the playground, my little boy began to run amok. I chased along and did my best to keep up, but you could easily lose a child among the chaos. It is a big place and there are a ton of kids with lots of parents not paying attention to what is going on. For me taking care of an 18 month old; it was imperative that I kept up. I managed once I got him to the small children's side of the park. There are specific sections that are used more often by a certain age group than the other. Nonetheless, everyone is scattered and are going to roam where they please. His favorite parts of the parks were the maze, jungle gym bus, and swings. If you take a stroller - make sure to hide your child's bottles, passies, and food sources. As previously mentioned, children are running in all directions. If they are not old enough to understand; they will roam and snatch something off your stroller and claim it as their own. It happened to us and that was something I had to fix quickly. Thank goodness the child who swiped a fruit pouch from our stroller was my friend's child who met up with for a playdate. His stroller was still a few feet away among several other strollers, but I can see this being an issue if you don't put your stuff up. That goes for your purse too! Keep it hidden or keep it with you. Clemyjontri is an awesome place and it is wonderful to be free. My only thought is I wish it was more diverse than a ton of privileged white kids and a few speckles of Asian kids. That is just my opinion though. read more

Not to repeat what many of the other reviews have already mentioned, Clemyjontri is one of THE best FREE public playgrounds in the area. There is absolutely everything you need to keep your own little monkeys entertained for hours. Kids will go wild at the many different varieties of "jungle gym" areas, swings, a maze and dozens of little rocker-rides. In the center of the park there is a beautiful carousel that is only open on the weekends. At a $1.50 per ride, it's reasonable and there's plenty of space for the entire family. Our own little monkeys go wild whenever we come here and thankfully run themselves silly until it's time to come home. A visit to Clemyjontri means wearing down the boys and making sure Mommy and Daddy get some quiet time to chat after they fall asleep. I can't describe how happy it makes me to see the joy on my boys' faces when we arrive at Clemyjontri. Their eager little hands trying hard to unsnap their stroller restraints so they can start enjoying their fun as they ask, "Down pweeeeeease". The only downside to Clemyjontri is the limited parking space right next to the park. If you do happen to find a parking spot in the small lot, it takes a bit of time to get outta the lot (when you leave) as cars constantly circle the lot looking and waiting for any open spaces. My advice is to park a few meters down the road at the "overflow" lot. You'll see the signs as this other parking lot is closer to the intersection of Georgetown Pike and Route 123. This other lot is also easier to get into and out of...which at the end of the day with tired, hungry and sometimes cranky kids is VERY important on the sanity of the parents. So pack up the kids, grab some snacks and head over to Clemyjontri. Everyone (fellow breeders) we've taken to this park is amazed and have vowed to return many times. You can enjoy your snack and drinks in the little pavillion/picnic area (if it's not reserved) or on the grassy hilly areas on the outer border of the park. read more
