Either the lines are long, the staff is unfriendly or I forget something crucial, which makes the experience horrible and leaves my day completely ruined. However, this DMV is quite the opposite! I got to their location soon after opening and there were about four people ahead of me, resulting in about a 10 minute wait. The staff member assisting me was great and made the process as easy as possible, even though there was a slight issue (important to note it was nothing that I contributed to, ha!). She quickly resolved it, gave me my tags and sent me on my way. I was in and out in about 20 minutes flat. How simple is that?! As long as I'm in driving distance to this location, it'll be my goto place. My faith in humanity has been restored ;)

They had a couple people working the DL desk and they were busy with other patrons when I sat down after checking in. You do stand in line for a bit to get checked in to make sure you have all the required documents needed for them to perform the service you're requesting and I think that helps to streamline and shorten the wait after getting checked in. I did my due diligence and already had a REAL ID license so my experience was pretty low-key. The woman who helped me through the process was kind and generally in a good mood. The other woman working the DL desk also seemed friendly. I know people don't really have much of a choice when it comes to having to do business at the DMV, but most of my experiences have been good here in St Joe, aside from the occasionally long waiting times. My only recommendation is that they offer a mirror to do a quick check prior to sitting down for the photo, which I thought they had in the past but maybe I'm misremembering that. Also, there is some signage on the doors to scan a QR code to keep tabs on where you are in line, but I didn't see a QR code anywhere, so that was a little confusing. The place is also a bit rundown, but I don't have high expectations for places like this, so no surprise there.

Thank goodness, our agent was helpful and thorough. She made sure that we had everything that we needed AND that all of the appropriate sections on the paperwork were filled out correctly. Both experiences were fairly quick and painless - 25 minutes tops and that was with a 18 to 25 people ahead of me in the electronic line that keeps you updated on your cell phone. Like most people I'd been avoiding it and putting it off as long as possible. When the time came I visited their website and realized that I could have just made an appointment, but there wasn't anything available now before our temporary tags expired so I just set an alarm to go first thing the next day. When I woke up I realized I had so much more to do that day than I thought and checked their website again for appointments, much to my luck they had a spot for that afternoon open up and I booked it! I arrived right on time later that day, checked in via my phone, and was seen within 10 minutes. The appointment took probably five minutes in total and I was out the door. The big learning here was that it pays to make an appointment and I LOVE that you can do that these days. Another pro tip: bring cash or a checkbook with you as they do charge a processing fee on all credit cards.

I found out yesterday that we have to "get in line" online first! I definitely think this may cut down on physical wait time in the office and allows us to pull up and get help faster. Was it inconvenient? Yes! Was it more efficient? Absolutely! I got here at 10:15, checked in at the podium and my number was called at 10:20. Now the actual process took around 30 minutes, but that's because I decided to be a big girl and get a personalized plate! Shoutout to Kansas for coming up with some cool looking plates, I love the "to the stars" quote and the sunset theme. I've been to 33 states and we definitely have the best sunset so it's spot on representation. Terra was so helpful and thoroughly explained the plate fees because I was set one the new distinctive black plates that are available to the citizens and although it's for a great cause I'm not trying to pay an extra $50 fee every year just to have it. So after talking through it I chose the purple sunset plate and the personalization was included in the one time fee to upgrade.
