Absolutely ridiculous. They had a pair of leggings marked as $1. My 12 year old daughter was so excited and planned to purchase. As I was checking out, I asked the cashier to verify the pricing with me since they give you a total but no breakdown like any normal register shows. Review as a seller: I brought in about 6 bin and through all of those, they took four pieces. Because they only take four bins at a time.I had to split this with my friend so we each registered 3 bins. I say the above because i'm sure that if they had taken all of my clothes, I probably would have been a lot more gracious and I try to be fair in all my posts... Anyway for the process you go there, you get your number and check in with the app/kiosk. The only takes so many per day, so it is recommended that you get the early. Anyway, they said they would be done in about two hours and they were done in about fifteen, so I knew it wasn't going to look good. Anyway they ended up taking a small amount it didn't feel worth the time including the payment of $5 new with tags. I have enjoyed Cheapsake a lot more so though it's a drive I'll probably continue to go there. read more

Not sure if is she is the manager but that Hispanic lady has a horrible attitude. I bring good quality clothes and this is the second time that she refuse to get any of it and when I ask why, she refuses to give me a reason. It makes me feel like she is discriminating against me or has personal issue with me. I also saw that they have a sign at the door that they were hiring and I asked the lady about it she didn't let me finish asking before she immediately told me that they were not hiring. I got the clothes I was selling and went to the register to buy an item that I got and again saw the sign at the register that they were hiring and I asked the other person at the register if they were hiring and she told me yes... I feel like the lady has a problem with me and I don't know why or what her problem is. She is rude and disrespectful and needs to give better costumer service. read more

Plato Family, very nice store. I hadn't been in before and was curious based off the reviews however... I think some of the complainers need to recognize the time it goes into sifting through things; that the time pricing, stocking it, and the space it takes up, it's important it's a desirable product that will make your efforts worth it. I lived in Miami for 10 years and during my daughter's first couple years. Check out this high end consignment store in Coral Gables. They only take certain brands, you drop your items and anything not selected I believe is donated, they don't accept stuff everyday and they don't take unlimited amounts either. SELLER REVIEW: Okay so if you're looking to sell clothes, listen up. I have come here three times and each time there has been a LINEEE. Like a 10+ people line. And I've come in within minutes of them opening! I've come twice on a Saturday (they do not buy clothes on Sundays) and once I showed up ONE minute before opening and there were already 4 people outside the doors. Soon after I got in line, there were about 6 other people who were waiting in their cars and got in line too. Also, even though they had just opened and I was 5th in line, they still tell you it's about a 2.5-3 hour wait (which would be fine if I lived in the woodlands). Also, the attendant who's always taken in my clothes has always had a frustrated attitude. Now, I will keep coming back because they take all styles all year round (teenage brands like Forever 21 and others too). So far I've made $250 in the three times I've sold sooooo, I guess I'll deal with the long lines and attitude! read more

I wish I could give this location 0 stars, they were disrespectful, belittling, and rude. This was my first experience selling used clothing, but I can confidently note that this encounter was was awful... After handing over my crate of clothing, the staff did a horrific job explaining the next step and process of payment. Confused, I kindly asked for clarification. Rather than professionally addressing this subject with me personally, in a store full of customers, 2 staff members in agreement loudly expressed that I "need to read". They then had the audacity to discuss that the paper that I was not instructed to sign would be the "perfect chance to practice reading"... Speechless, I gathered my belongings and left the store. However, these verbal aggressions continued even as I approached the exit and left the building. I'm am absolutely disgusted with this location. As a person of color, I felt belittled and enraged with their customer service. Micro-aggressions seem to be the norm at this establishment towards customers of color; it's appalling. It's highly mentioned on YELP that this location frequently expresses derogatory remarks and bigotry behavior. After the experience I endured, I would whole heartily agree with the reviews. I will no longer be a customer at this franchise. I can't support a businesses who does not respect the color of my skin. If you're looking to sell clothes with staff members who demonstrate professional behavior and even subpar customer service, this is NOT the place to go. Plato's closet is a a joke They advertise that they buy clothes, shoes, etc. And they can't even give you something out of it. This was my first time selling with them. I got told about them by a friend so I wanted to have them a try. I waited an hour and 20 mins until it was ready. I finally got a text so I go back. I wished that they could've just look at my bin and told me then and there "oh sorry we are not interested in your items" but no they wasted my time for them to give me absolutely nothing 0 dollars. The girl reads out from the receipt my clothing was not trendy that it was out of date? Clothes is clothes I had them washed (using my own Laundry detergent) and without stains. and that they were not teenager appropriate like they were teenagers clothing 14-17 years I also had some heels which one of them were brand new and they're "not trendy" if they wouldn't been I wouldn't had brought them in. Like I said if you're gonna want to waste your time in your gas, or even your own laundry detergent. I don't recommend this place at all. No wonder they have such a low review they suck!! you are better off, selling it on Facebook market or Offer Up or eBay because this place is a joke. read more

Worst Plato's Closet i've been to. The Baytown location has this one beat by a long shot. Wait time for clothing drop off is 4 hours or more for them only to take little to no clothes that are all designer brands. Unfortunately this review is not a good one. I've been here many times & the only thing that's consistent is the fact that I never feel welcome here. I hear the employees greeting others who walk in, but there has only been one time that I recall being greeted or acknowledged. When trying on clothes, I am made to feel like I'm a burden. When paying for items, I also feel like a burden. The customer should never feel this way, when an employee is doing their job. As far as the clothing goes, everything is overpriced. I refuse to pay $20 for used Torrid jeans with a stain. Some chanclas from Pink were $12, but there is a scuff mark/ tear on them. I honestly don't even want to come back but my teenage daughter likes thrift shopping. Hopefully this review will inspire management to make some positive changes with its employees. read more

As this is the only Platos Closet I've been in, I can only assume that they are all operated this way and thus will never set foot in one agin. My wife and I had heard about PC and we were eager to check it out. We have both lost a little weight recently so we had some decent clothes that we needed to get rid of so we figured we'd give this thing a shot. Big mistake. We walked into the store to be greeted by a sign listing out all of the things that they don't accept. This would've been great on to know ahead of time via their website. When we asked the nearest employee about this we were rudely lectured about how busy they are and how good their store is and how we might have better luck at another location. When my wife asked to speak with a manager, we were informed that she was the general manager. We decided that since we made the drive we'd just drop out clothes off anyway and see what we get. We got a text a few hours later, drove back up to the store, got a couple of dollars and the rest of our clothes and left without even looking at anything that they had. We dropped everything else off at goodwill. Based on this experience, I have no idea why anyone would shop at this place. To say this was a poor experience is giving the employees there too much credit. read more

pretty upset that I spent the time to drop off and pick up and NOTHING. okay I get it, there are specifics they look for but come on... I dropped off nice heels only worn once (Michael Kors, Diesel, Marc Fisher). Anyways it would have been better if there was a better process. This could be so much for efficient if it was thought out a bit more, with better process and communication. Not only could it save time for Platos but for the customer as well. also the manger on site was not helpful. Pretty irritated with that person but not going to even articulate that situation. however, another situation I experienced was thus, there were two registers open and two customers ahead of me being helped. The moment the associate was done with the person, the associate put the "register closed" sign then started chatting it up with the other associate folding clothes behind the register. I was holding my two year old. I was pretty shocked. No direction just stand there and wait. I asked her while she was chatting it up and she told me to wait behind the other register. Just very rude. Perhaps because their uneducated young early professionals? nevertheless just super frustrating. Can't say I'll ever go back not even as a customer. read more

Showed up today to bring some of my wife's clothes in, mainly because she was cleaning out the winter clothes and wanted to get rid of some, she explained to me that platos closet will purchase these. I decided to drive over and get this sent in. First initially it was simple, dropped off around 11am and was told by the lady behind the counter it would take 1 hour and half. Also that they would text me when it was finished. Here it where it gets bad, I arrived back at 1 hour and like 15. I was not in a rush, and since I figured it would take maybe 15-30 minutes to finish I was not worried about waiting. I went up to speak to the lady who happened to be the manager in regards to the clothes, and asked how much longer. She explained that they were "ahead of time" I told her that its not an issue as we were told 1 hour and a half, and she made sure to mention that was incorrect. That it was 2 hours and 30 minutes. Ok? Well it didn't matter to me, but she was a ahead so I asked how long. She then explained it would be 15 minutes to finish the processing. Ok cool I can wait, still in my time frame of 1 hour and 30 minutes. She then explained to my my clothes needed to be inside out for them to look at them. I was lost, because I was not told this at first and since dropped them off was trying to see if I could do this now and then get these re processed. I think that set a nerve off with her because she told me they would only process 2 bins per day for customers and since I had already used 2 bins, I was not allowed to have anything processed. Which means I had to come back, I was kinda upset at this point, and was not mean, but obviously irritated. I then told her that I had no idea about the shirts inside out and tried to reason with her, and she told me it was "common sense". At this point, it was clear this manager, was just in a bad mood, and taking it out on customers. I guess she might have thought I was rich, and figured she was sticking it to me. I explained that this was basically wasting my time. She didn't care she was probably off the next day. Maybe why she did it, have no idea. It was ok, I called the Humble location and was able to get the owners number. (The woodlands location told me they couldn't give it out lol) I left a voicemail, and never heard back. I feel that I wasn't a Karen, and could have easily been more outraged, but handled this well despite being treated poorly. I will not return to this location, or to the Humble location since the owner owns both of these. It looks like to her, my business is not good enough. I might be one person, but for a small business especially with these hard times, maybe on customer is enough to change her mind on how to treat customers. read more

Don't bother taking your teens clothes here-- I dropped off a tote of my teen daughters clothes and when I was summoned back, guess what? I was told that "unfortunately " they couldn't take anything because most of the clothes were "women's" clothes and "a bug crawled out" of the tub. She suggested that maybe they had been in storage?? Ummm, no. They came straight from my daughters closet. We don't have bugs in our house or car and if there was a bug within 100 feet of my daughters room, the whole neighborhood would hear about it. Plus, all the sizes were juniors, XS, and S-- they were my TEEN daughters clothes. She suggested that I take them to Style Encore next door. This Plato's seem to be allergic to cute clothes!! I try to avoid this establishment similar as to one would the plague, that being said, it was time for a closet clean out. I wanted to take my chances. I regret this choice!!! The clothes I brought, in my opinion, were cute and still in style and most were fairly okay brands. I just didn't fit them or wear them much anymore. While waiting for them to go through my clothes, I decided to take a quick stroll through the store to see if anything had changed since my last visit. Nope! A bust, truly!!! The people who pick the clothes must be blind or something??? I mean? This is a nicer area there is simply no reason to have almost exclusively shein or some knockoff shein equivalent. Don't even waste your time trying to sell clothes here. I've visited two times and each time they just say they are not taking clothes. You basically have to come on a weekday when they open. As a working professional I don't have time to come in at 10am during the week. Ridiculous. First time I visited was on a weekend around 3pm they said they stop taking clothes around 4pm for a daily limit. Nothing else was said. Second time they said they don't take in clothes on Sunday. I thought the whole point of this business was to bring in and sell nice gently used clothes? They are inconsistent with taking in clothes and do not give a clear explanation. From the looks of previous reviews this is COMMON. They need to be CLEAR with their policies. All these reviews and nothing is done. Kind of racist, shitty customer service attitude, and I found them talking shit about the clothes I was trying to sell. I'm not extremely bothered by the last thing because I only sell here and I know some of the items I bring in are kind of raggedy but I thought to include it as the cherry on top because it's still unprofessional. The thing that honestly bothered me the most was their attitude. I wish I could name employees but in the moment I just didn't care enough to look at their name tags. I've never actually bought from Plato's but I have sold my clothes here a couple of times. My routine is literally to just clean out my closet every couple of months, go to Plato's, see what I can sell, and donate what they pass on. It's a second hand store. So, regardless of them mostly only accepting name brand things no matter how ugly they are, it's still a cheaper alternative to people who can't afford it right off the rack but want to stay in style. So, I think knowing that , you should be aware that your customer base is going to be a lower-income group. And according to statistics, lower income groups usually consist of many Hispanic individuals. The day I came in and there was a lot of Hispanics, many customers who I could tell didn't even know English that well. (I am mexican btw). I'm going to refer to two employees. One was white with hair a bit longer than a pixie cut and she was wearing a patterned shirt today 08/20/22, the other girl was black with braids, and was wearing a pink shirt today. Again, I was trying to sell, but it took 5 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge me and me having to ask a question every time the black girl ignored me through out the drop off process. What really made me upset was the way she talked to the other customers, there was a father and son who really only knew how to say "how much" regarding items and the black girl talked to them like they were stupid. I dropped off my items kind of late so they told me to stay close for pick up at 7 , I re-entered the store at 7 and found they were still sorting through my clothes, the black girl pointed out a sweatshirt I had included in there, it was an old one from shein, but the white girls reaction was to make a face and said something along the lines of "wtf is that" and she turned to see me there smiling at her. She put her head down and both of them just laughed. like I said I don't care that much bc I know it was raggedy I was just trying to make a profit out of clothes I was no longer going to use before donating the ones they passed on, but if you're going to tell me to stay in the store, be more aware of where I am before deciding to make fun of what I'm selling to you. The rest of the process was finished off by the black girl who again just had a condescending tone. No "have a good a night" or "thank you" just a "we're buying these items", "here is your money", and walked away from the register. Weird experience and like I said I didn't like how they treated the Hispanic customers who couldn't speak English that well it was just so condescending. Like girl you work at a second hand store, you're not better than any of them. I understand people have bad days, and I've worked in customer service jobs before where people have actually treated me like shit, but never did I direct myself in that manner or was that stupid about what I was saying regarding a customer. By far one of the worst experiences with Plato's EVER!!! This isn't my first rodeo with this specific Plato's closet, I normally do my spring cleaning with my family around this time. Earlier in February, I went to take a few trash bags to this location. Mind you every location is different. Plato's takes in good quality name-brand things. I took my bags in and got at least $100 which wasn't too bad. But earlier this week whenever I went I took two bins. I took one bin filled with my precious teen girls clothes, which she goes on the more expensive side when buying here clothes! LOL! And my bin which had a few name brand clothing. It took about 30-45 minutes to let the employees go through. So we went to go check out the Sam moon shop close by and even checked out this pretty sweet bike store. (None of my family likes bikes, LOL!) Anyway, we got the text our clothes were sorted and were ready to pick up. We made a good profit but I started to notice something when I got home, THEY HARDLY LOOKED THROUGH ONE BIN!!! The clothes were folded the same way my grandmother taught me and were hardly touched. RIDICULOUS AND A WASTE OF MY TIME. If you plan on taking your clothes I recommend not going to this specific location. Bunch of lazy ladies working in there. read more

Very rude manager. Combative and unprofessional. They wouldn't let me check out until I took my item off the dressing room door and put it 5' away on a table of other clothes. No sign asking customers to do this either. (I thought this was an employees job btw.). When I questioned the manager she got ugly and very combative. Very entitled attitude. Not a good look. Owner doesn't care as I never received a call back from him. Corporate office doesn't care either as no follow up there either. I will never go back to that store. They've been impossible with accepting clothing before too. That's the whole point of the store. Be consistent. Very rude employees and all they do is talk and laugh behind the counter. I brought some items to sell that are current styles and brands that their website stated they purchase. As soon as I set my items on the counter the extremely rude short heavy set dark haired girl told me they weren't interested in any of my items. She did not even bother to look through them. She was judging what I had based on the fact that I am in my 50s. She recommended I take them somewhere that sells items for older women. I dress and look younger than my age so this was VERY INSULTING! As I was leaving the store a young lady who was a customer that overheard the exchange came running out to tell me she was horrified by the treatment I received. She said the same woman had also insulted her father. I will NEVER set foot in this store again. The times I've been in to browse the items seemed cheap and were not in great condition. read more

I have been to multiple Plato's Closet throughout the state of Texas, and this by far has been the worst experience EVER. If I could give no stars, I would. I walked in, was not greeted or welcomed into the store at all. So I took it into my own hands to ask if they were still taking drop offs (as I know the stores policies for selling items). I was then approached by a lady with short black hair that had an extremely aggressive attitude as she pointed to a whiteboard, stating the items that they are taking at the moment. Then randomly said, "that is why I sent the other people on their way". Very taken aback by her aggression as number 1. I've never met her, and 2. I'm a customer that has been nothing but nice even after not being greeted (let that slide). I asked if it was okay for me to go through my ONE trash bag on the counter to make sure that I have the correct items for them to go through. She then said " yes, that is why I have the tote on the counter" which was completely unnecessary for a grown adult to respond in that way to a new customer let alone any customer. Still no eye contact was made.. I then asked if she needed my ID, since I know that's their requirement for when you are wanting to sell items, and she then proceeded to say "yes, but I need you to fill out this paper first which is why I'm getting that for you." Still with attitude and not nice AT ALL, regardless you treat customers with kindness if you are in the retail, sales, or customer service industry. She then proceeded to say that it would take about an hour, which is typical for most Plato closet locations depending on how many clothes they have to go through. So I gave her my ID, filled out the information and stayed in the store during that time. As I was looking around the store, I was watching them to see if they would drag out my wait time rather than going through my clothes (since they weren't busy) so that I could be on my way. But no, the lady with the short black hair and a younger lady stood at the front the whole time behind the counter, not going through any clothes, but waited until the last 15 minutes of my one hour waiting to go through my clothes so that I would have to stay in the store longer. I was on the phone the second I walked away from the counter after dropping off my clothes, from the time I got the text message that my clothes were ready and it took an hour and five minutes. If you don't like a customer for no reason, just because you are in a bad mood or are having a bad day, that's totally fine. But the last thing that I'm going to do is take it, when I showed her nothing but kindness. I hope people take this into consideration and do not come to this stores location. I had a bag of at least 40 clothes and they only took three of my items for $13.50 (and I'm fully aware it's based on trending clothes too) but I know the reason was because she didn't like me, for whatever reason that may be. Number one because of what I saw with my eyes and Number 2 from the way she spoke to me. Very very sad to see from grown adults, let alone someone in their late 30's-40's I presume acting that way to ANYONE. I feel sorry for the staff too if that is how she truly is. read more
