I went in to the Midland location today (1/3/26) at 10:00AM. I had one 52L men's sports coat and ten (10) Ralph Lauren Polo shirts both long and short sleeve in sizes XXL and 2XB. Per the website I took the items in without an appointment. I was greeted with an attitude since my items were all on hangers from the cleaners. I was told they would only be accepted folded and in a bin or basket. I told the young lady that it would be nice if that was on the website. She said "it's on there somewhere you just didn't look". I went and got a bin, folded the clothes and returned at 10:20. She checked in my tote and told me it would be 2-3 days before I'd hear from the store. At 3:00 the same afternoon I received a text that they were unable to buy any of my items and that I had until the end of the day to pick them up. I called the store and asked if I could pick up the items the next day I was told, "if they're not picked up today they will be donated". My wife was nearby, she called and asked if she could pick up for me. She was told it had to be me. So I drove back to the store from Odessa to pickup the items. When I asked why they couldn't be bought she told me because of the smell. Total lie, they came from a smoke free home, some had only been worn once and all had been dry cleaned before attempting to sell. I'm attaching some photos as proof. This location was TERRIBLE! I have sold with Plato's before and this experience was by far the worst. I brought in 2 bags mostly with new or barely used items including lululemon and shoes with tags. They took NOTHING. Worst I was in the store they waiting until 10 minutes after I left to message and say they were taking nothing. Also, they LOST MY ITEMS. The disrespectful staff was the cherry on top. Will not be returning. read more

Lowballer's for sure! Customer service needs major improvement! Plato's closet has guidelines to follow when bringing in clothes. It needs to be washed, folded neatly, no plastic bags. That's fine I can't take my time and do that, but y'all clearly don't take time to give the customer unwanted items back neatly. I picked up my unwanted items and they were unfolded and wrinkled. I brought them in freshly washed, folded neatly and unwrinkled! I also don't think y'all should automatically keep the wanted items and have them out on the floor ASAP because a customer can change their mind or wants to negotiate for more money. Y'all need to keep the wanted items nearby so the customer can see what y'all kept. That's not good business practices and I will see if it's legal as well! read more

This is the worst plato's closet I've ever seen. First attempt to sale and was told they decided they were to "busy" today to accept sales. Second try and I was just told that items in plastic bags aren't accepted. Also I would have to provide my own bin such as a laundry basket because they don't allow customers to use their bins as they don't have enough for customers lol what a joke, she has 10 empty bins behind her and not a single customer in the store. I've sold many times to Plato's closet in other towns and never treated this way. read more

I've been to other Plato's Closets and resale shops. By far, this one at Midland has horrible customer service and everyone that works there is super rude. Not only do they act disrespectful towards customers they act as if they don't want to answer questions. Place sucks. Workers are rude, they don't want to take your clothes, and they want you to come back when it's convenient for them. Isn't that your job to take clothing?? Racks are way too packed with clothes, you can't even browse. It's basically a garage sale, with ross store prices. Also, the light in there is so dim you can't see the clothing, I guess since they take dirty, dingy clothing they have to keep the lights dim so no one will see the stains?! I saw a lot of clothing with pit stains, I don't care if it's lululemon or not, no one wants to purchase things with pit stains. The workers are fresh out of high school,entitled brats, and they don't greet you or say goodbye or thanks when you leave. Stay away from this depressing, filthy store. read more

This is the most worthless inconsistent franchise of Plato's I've ever encountered!! All their employees are rude, ill informed and have zero give a shits about customer service! Mind blowing when their WHOLE business plan revolves around buying clothes. Three times this week I did what I was told and then show up to get told something completely different! I came in today and was told "we are too busy for buybacks today" Sunday at 12:00. Go figure, yet another establishment in the Permian that employed people to NOT do their job!! Set your rules and keep them the same! This location constantly moves the "rule needle" to their level of how much they want to work that day. Great, outstanding job Plato's of midland I will never be a purchasing customer again or give you one bit of my clothing to buy. I live in Odessa so I called before loading up 7 bags of clothes to make sure they were open and would be accepting clothes and they said yes. So you can imagine my frustration when I drove 20 min to midland and the lady at the desk that I talked to on the phone so kindly informed me that they would not accept my clothes because they were in thrash bags. Which I have no idea why it matters what they are in. The girl helping me did not care at all. Another prime example of west Texas service. I ended up donating them to charity. They will not be profiting off of my clothing. read more

I brought in two trash bags full of pink, Hollister, fashionnova, rue21 and they only paid me$13.30 for it I brought in things 4 days before and less clothes and got 18.78 The service was slow and bad and they were slow. read more

It's an ok store. I prefer other locations more. They don't give you as much money for your clothes as uptown cheapskate in Frisco, or offer you more in-store credit rather than cash as incentive like other Plato's closets do. With that being said; This store is the only one in the area of its kind. So it sorta wins by default. read more

Under new management and they just throw clothes away instead of donating. They said they tried to donate but no one would accept the donation. This is pure lies and laziness. There are several organizations that will take these clothes and even pick them up. I know because I donate all the time. St. Stephens church has two large trucks that will accept donation all day, every day. You people should be ashamed of yourselves and management needs to be fired!!!! read more

I've lived in 5 different locations in Texas since I came down here in '07 and thrusting is my #1hobbie. It's how I made an income when u first moved down south. This Plato's closet was the worst I've ever been too. The super young staff greeted customers upon instance but after that they ignored general customers except what seemed to be friends. Also noticed they bought they're friends cheap Wal-Mart clothes while passing up a few other customers high priced clothing. I sell vintage clothes at a store on Congress st. in Austin so I know quite a bit about fashion/brands. The absolute resale shop I've ever been to! And I've lived in 6 different states. Don't waste your time there. All that's on the racks is walmart, target and forever21 clothes u can get at the same price as new. So disappointed!!! read more

The girls that work in this store are so rude and act as if they work in a high end boutique or a Louis Vuitton store. Never a hello, I stand at the counter waited to be helped while 2 or 3 girls are just chit chatting behind it. Then act as if I'm bothering them when I ask a question. I've taken in excellent conditioned NIKES, VS PINK, and brand names they turn away but won't give me a answer as to why. And on the rakes I see nikes with holes, and margaritaville and keep Austin weird shirts hanging with a price tag of $16. This Plato's is a joke but the only one in our area. And I always take my clothes back because I've heard they throw them away or wouldn't be surprised if they sold them still after you left. I always love coming here! They have some really great finds. The only thing that caused me to give 4 stars instead of 5 was that I rarely get enough money for all of the clean, barely worn clothes that are in great condition. I used to receive more money for my clothes at small business second hand stores in Illinois than I have ever received at Plato's here. read more

Very dissatisfied with this platos closet. I have always loved shopping at the platos around Texas but this one is at the bottom of my list. We brought clothes in to sell and the lights were not working which is understandable but close the shop of the lights aren't working. Instead they let us drop our clothes off and said they will be working later this afternoon. So we left to run around midland. Because we aren't from here we live about 45 min away. We went back to check on our clothes and the lady said the lights aren't working yet but they will be later in the afternoon. So we went back a third time and there was a sign on the door that said closed due to power outage. They didn't even call us to let us know they were closing. We had spent all day in midland waiting on our clothes because they said the lights would be back on. They could have at least given us the courtesy to call us and let us know. We did get our clothes back because my husband knocked on the door and people inside just stared at him then they finally opened the door. I would love to speak with a manager but I can't even leave a message because they have no voicemail. read more
