I do think the items here tend to lean more conservative/vintage etc but there are surely gems to be found. During my visit there was a sale for 50% off Linens which was kind of crazy because their original price is already really affordable. I was looking for towels/blankets to help cushion some my heavier and more fragile purchases that I made and I picked up the three hand knitted blankets for $6. I can't even get yarn for $6 let alone have a finished product. This was definitely a more sustainable way to ensure my fragile souvenirs could get back home safely and I think was cheaper than buying bubble wrap. Prices in this shop are inexpensive compared to California Thrift shops so I think it's worth a look!

While the store does…read morehave a reasonable selection of clothing, what stood out for me was the way they hang the clothing. Jeans are hanging horizontally from the right leg, which makes it insanely easy to see what size they are without having to constantly pull stuff off hangars and make a mess. I'm not sure who thought this up, but it's brilliant. That said, they did not have any jeans in my size that I liked. A few warmer pieces of clothing which are useful for Bismarck in the winter, but nothing that really lit me up. Some housewares, glassware, a few furniture pieces and some toys. She also mentioned everything must be two seasons or less old--how would you know when I bought my clothes? Especially if you never opened my bags? Really disappointing experience.

They fixed it on the spot, explained to me how to avoid the problem in the future, and didn't change me anything for the repair. (And unlike some places in Bismarck, I didn't get any side eye for being a guy who sews.) They also have a good selection of vacuum cleaners for sale in the store. Their prices are good and, unlike the big box stores, theirs come with a warranty and they'll fix them for you if needed. They have a little parking lot. Their entrance is from the parking lot, not the main side of the street that their address is on. It's actually a little hard to see where they are until you drive past it, because of how the sign is angled -- I'll post a pic to clarify. I'd definitely recommend this place for your vacuum and sewing needs in western North Dakota.

I always bring my vintage sewing machines to be serviced at J&R. Chase is my go to technician. He is amazing at what he does! If the issue with your sewing machines is fixable, he will make it happen! He has an amazing amount of knowledge and he has so much passion for what he does, I appreciate that in a technician, thats when you know your machines are in good hands! I would recommend J&R to everyone because they are the best of the best in what they offer and do!!
