I've been going to this Petbarn for years, since they opened in fact. Each time that I dealt with…read morethem I was told that I didn't have to worry about our picky cavoodle not liking the food that I purchased because they have a "return if they don't like it" returns policy. Today, for the first time, I tested the policy and found it to be completely incorrect. I went into Pet Barn as per normal and picked out a bag of FurFresh Australian Whole Raw Salmon Bellies for our dog. This was at 11:00 am. I walked 2 blocks to my office, opened the bag and gave it to our dog who sneezed a few times and backed away from the treat. I wasn't worried, because of the return policy, so I picked it up and walked back down to exchange them for something else. I was told that I could not return treats, only food, unless the treats made my dog sick. Few things to wonder about here.... 1- Since when are treats not food? 2- How is a customer to know that treats are not food? 3- Why would they have a different policy for a large bag of food as opposed to a small bag of food? 4- What is the distinction between food and a $20 bag of Salmon Bellies really? 5- I had the food for 15 minutes total and none was missing as my dog literally backed away from the salmon When the girl at the register told me this interpretation of their policy, I was stunned, so she went back to check with the manager. The manager confirmed that there would be no refund for the bag of fish that I mistakenly thought was food. I left the shop, and the bag of Salmon Bellies, behind me today. So if your dog likes them, please, go to the shop and claim them for yourself! My treat. Meantime, Pet Barn has lost a loyal customer over $20 worth of food that could have been fed to visiting doggies. As a business owner, seems like a serious false economy to me. After all, it's not like there are not other pet stores around. PetO is 10 minutes away from here, is cheaper and has a much larger selection. Problem solved

Super handy little petbarn for those on the peninsula who like the convenience of not having to…read moredrive too far to pick up treats, food or flea treatments for their fur kids. It's the smallest store in the company so it doesn't have grooming or vet services like a lot of the bigger petbarns, but they are big on service and will give your dog a treat, even if you're just walking by with your pooch. (Who will drag you inside because it smells so good to puppers)

The girls here are WONDERFUL! It's always comforting to know you're leaving your friend in the hands of dog lovers! And they even have a backyard! I left her at day care for 4 hours in which she was walked for 15mins and it cost me $20 - I think we were lucky enough to get 1st time customer love! My pirate (french bulldog) got in the car happy and smelling great and tired after an eventful visit! All the other dogs are nice and clean! And we will most definitely be back and definitely recommending to all my FAV friends! Domo arigatou gozaimasu Maru-Maru!

Very reasonable prices for the inner west / Sydney and they do the most amazing job. Washed, styled, ears cleaned and toenails cut all for $58 per small dog. Even though my dogs are a pain when it comes to being groomed (which is why I gave up on trying to do it myself) these ladies are masters at wrangling feisty little bastards and making them look beautiful. Bows for the girls and scarves for the boys are included (super cute). They are really accommodating with drop-off and pick-up times around work schedules etc. They let the dogs mingle (clean on one side of the counter and dirty on the other, very courteous!) so if your dog is a trouble maker you might want to let them know. They have one strict rule and that is NO FLEAS! So make sure you get the frontline on your pups well ahead of their appointment. Can't recommend these guys enough. They also have speciality treatments like colour tinting, nail painting, mud baths etc for the super pampered pooch. Not to mention a shop with the cutest dog accessories from Japan and locally made doggy treats.

Tucked away in trendy Surry Hills, Aquadisiac have been doing this thing called aquariums and aquascaping ( for those not familiar with the lingo, that's those cool planted tanks that look amazing and like a landscape) since before it was cool. Not only do they have a great range of tropical and exotic fish species, they also have a pet accessories store upstairs. Follow the awesome rainforest mural up to find a selection of Super premium dog and cat foods, flea and tick treatments and accessories. Speak to the friendly owner operators Ryan and Scott, and they will be able to to help you out with just about anything pet related, from your sick fish to your interest in Scleropages leichardti. You know what it means, dont you fish nerd? Ryan is a keen topical and aquarium plant fan, and I managed to even pick up a vanilla orchid from him along with some cool fish that you dont often see in regular pet stores, like sparkling gourami and some crystal red shrimp. SO if you're in the market for some living decor, or you're just mad keen, these guys are my #1 recommendation. Search Aquadisiac on Facebook where they post new and exciting stock arriving in store, or check out their web page.
