He prioritized visiting us, especially after hearing how fearful I was that our partly collapsed chimney might threaten the structural integrity of the house. The limited inspection was an affordable alternative that didn't take very much time, provided some reassurances, and provided a good starting point for later measures. He even popped his head into the attic space, which is something I don't think any inspector has done since. Despite the fact that this was a limited inspection, Jim takes his responsibility so seriously that when I had some follow-up questions a couple months later, he came out again to review the items I'd asked about, gave me some additional information to clarify his notes, and then refused to take any additional payment for doing so. He is competent, easy to work with, and inspires confidence with his depth of knowledge.

We insisted ahead of time that we would be wearing masks, and the sellers also requested that all individuals wear masks inside their home, but Donna and her partner refused to wear masks. There is currently an emergency order in effect in Anchorage that requires individuals to wear masks. I have also made a formal complaint with the Municipality of Anchorage and the Better Business Bureau. When we emailed her to express our frustration, she responded rudely by saying she doesn't "subscribe to the hysteria around this so-called pandemic" and also that she has a "health condition" that prevents her from wearing a mask. I have asthma myself and I wear a mask 8 hours a day. I teach 3-year-olds with disabilities, and almost all of them are capable of wearing masks. She then proceeded to provide "evidence" from LifeSiteNews.com that "the survival rate exceeds 99%" and that "masks reduce oxygen by up to 20%," along with other claims that have been proven false countless times. I have provided screenshots of these emails. She also had political and divisive bumper stickers on her company vehicle. I have never been more disappointed in a service I have received. She does not take health and safety of her clients seriously, which is hugely concerning for someone who inspects homes for health and safety violations for a living.

None of what I write here speaks to personality, accessibility, or relevant to direct communication with the inspector. My review is based solely on the work product, some of which is legitimate, some petty and some just wrong. In the wrong category, inspection report stated my plumbing supply lines were copper when in fact they were PEX. In the summary of the report it was noted that smoke and CO detectors were need throughout however in the body it noted that the newly installed combination smoke and CO detectors were present. The report noted that the water heater was at end of life. In reality there were two, one of which was 2 months old. In the petty department, one riser was an eighth inch over 7-3/4" suggesting a re-build of steps. One tub had a small chip, classified as a significant repair item. There's more but not worth going into. All in all, could be better, could be worse therefore two and half to 3 stars is more than fair. My Qualifications: Construction experience dating back to 1976. 27 years real estate brokerage experience. Rental property owner/manager, remodel and repair contractor.
