As somewhat expected in a highly populated area in a big city, be vigilant and watch out for yourself, because despite cameras everywhere and the occasional security personnel, you tend to see some shady characters lurking around. Location 4 stars: In the Fairfax District area of Los Angeles, to the East of the original Farmer's Market. The Grove has a huge but very busy parking structure, so while you may have to journey to the upper levels, you will eventually find parking. Although some restaurants will validate part of the parking fees, be prepared to pay somewhere between $10 and $30 depending on how long you stay and which stores you visit. Their validation rules are fairly complex and not straightforward, so be sure to read all the fine print. They also have Valet parking on premises. Venue 4 stars: Nice modern open air set up with a Nordstrom, Zara and H&M and a bunch of smaller stores, an AMC movie theater, a Barnes and Noble, a Cheesecake Factory, and a variety of coffee shops and restaurants to fit most tastes and budgets. One catch being that the Grove parking lot cannot be validated by the Farmers Market stores and vice versa. Once you are on premises you can use the trolly to move from one end of the venue to the other. Also keep in mind that the Original Farmers Market is literally next door and attached to the Grove, which dramatically increases your food options.

However, I decided to just kill some time and go into few of their department stores that they have before my meeting with a potential client that was scheduled for 5pm. This is a HUGE 2 story mall with escalators and elevators operating just fine. With clean restrooms, stores, and great service. I went into Macy's and was looking for an outfit to buy for an upcoming wedding. Looked around, but couldn't find anything that captured my eye/attention. Later, went to Zara, one of their most iconic, expensive stores. They have many stores from Bloomingdales, to Macy's to Nordstrom, Louis Vuitton, Sephora, Diesel, Roberto Cavalli, Bath & Body Works, Tiffany & Company, and a lot more. Just to name a few. All associates that I dealt with were very helpful, nice and professional. They no longer have the big Food court. They do have sporadic snack shops inside, but there are a few restaurants on the ground floor, such as H&H Steakhouse, Nicolas Eatery, and ABSteak. Some chain spots such as Starbucks and Wetzel's Pretzel are also available. Parking surprised me with their fair prices. They have a parking garage, rates are very inexpensive and affordable. Starts out at $1.00 for an hour & $2.00 for the second hour. If and when I happen to be in this beautiful, RICH area again, I will definitely stop by..

While it was great to see only two empty storefronts, most businesses sell overpriced to super overpriced products to stay afloat. The mall is dated-looking, with a defunct water fountain, but the open second floor bathed in natural sunlight gives off soothing, chill vibes. The food court has about 9 places, mostly Korean but also a Vietnamese and Japanese katsu options. We ate fresh bi bim naeng myun (very chewy buckwheat noodles), ja jang myun (chewy noodles with black bean sauce and a nice amount of minced beef or pork), and fish cake on a skewer. Some places charge for a to go container and the cranky employee at the naeng myun place (the name's only in Korean, Kang San Myun Ok, refused to sell me to go in separate containers. Excuse me for wanting to separate the chewy noodles from the broth, as the noodles will lose elasticity from a long drive. The food court had many televisions broadcasting a World Cup match. There eating area is spacious with tables are cleared and wiped quickly. The outdoor dining are was closed the day we went. The supermarket is huge, organized and has the viral fruit-shaped ice cream that I adore, for $4.99 each. There's a Cake House bakery with mildly sweet Asian pastries and hot beverages. Their cakes are very expensive and beautiful. Cake slices are also sold. The mall has women's clothes, skin care, a bank, bookstore, children's toys, handbags and jewelry, and knick-knacks or collectibles. There's even a flower shop on a parking level right by the supermarket entrance. We were surprised to spend about 4 hours there. It's easy to spend a lot of time here as the parking is free! I will be back for the food and accessories in support of Korean-owned businesses.

Free self parking on premises. Venue 3 stars: Older shopping complex, consisting of the Galleria Supermarket on the lower level and 2 levels of shops. Extensive Food Court on the 3rd floor. Store mix 3 stars: Mostly mid-to-low tier unbranded clothing and health stores. A nice coffee shop on the second level (Little Bean Coffee). The food court is massive, with tens of Korean restaurants. I recommend Galleria Tonkatsu and Jin Su Sung Chan.

The place has been gentrified with a train line that drops you off in the heart of Culver City where new shops and restaurants have popped up. Everything is sleek, clean, and new. My excuse to come back here was when I found out through the We Like LA website that there would be a cat themed event. I made sure to check Google Maps ahead of time to see where to park and was glad to see there was underground parking. In addition, I was able to park for free for the first 2 hours because the info booth at the event gave out validation tickets. Just make sure to put your actual ticket in first, then the validation ticket. I know the garage at Ovation does it in the reverse order, so I ended up struggling at the gate for a while just like the driver ahead of me. When I walked up the stairs, I could immediately hear the crowds of people and saw a long line to pet the cats provided by Kitty of Angels, but first I wanted to see what merchandise was there, so I spent a few minutes visiting the tables before finally getting in line. I think I spent an hour waiting only to spend 7 mins. petting the cats. I thought I'd have more time to at least see the new restaurants and shops at the complex, but then my 2 hours of free parking would've been up. I ended up leaving immediately after petting the cats and noticed that the family who were in line behind me did the same thing. As far as festivals go, this was in its infancy. There weren't that many merchandise tables, the food and restrooms were whatever was onsite, and the event was only 2 hours. I think it was for the sake of the cats. That being said, I got in line a little after the event started. I'm fairly sure the long line of people who came after me were turned away. I enjoyed my short time here since I got to visit a place I hadn't been to before, got to spend a little time petting animals, and there were freebies like a headband with cat ears and temporary tattoos. I'm going to make sure to keep a look out now for whatever events they may have coming up.

The Little Light LA shop on the second floor was such a terrible experience. The woman at the counter made sure to give my friends and I the dirtiest looks and the most unwelcome vibe. I being the decent person I am still said thanks and goodbye to her as I left and she just stared at me then looked away. The woman in the kpop shop was in the back and ran to the front as soon as she saw me as if she had to guard the door which is basically what she was doing while I was there. To be honest especially in trumps America, I don't feel very welcomed in ktown in a lot of places but my experience today really took the cake. Not to mention on the escalators some woman started running up the steps as soon as she saw me get on them behind her. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt but as a black/brown person, we know that feeling when it's about the color of our skin and this was that. So unfortunate... for them because there are tons of other kpop stores where people are actually friendly. Like literally one across the street. And there are much better stores than the racist one I mentioned first. She had a canvas bag for 70$ with a simple cartoon decal. You can find that on temu for about $10.
