After a week of juicing and water only, I was more than ready for my first solid meal. I came…read moreacross Elephant + Vine, a vegan comfort/fast food spot at 2315 N. Lincoln Ave., and between the menu and the name (yes, the elephant caught my attention), I knew I had to check it out. There's plenty of street parking in the area, I went on a Sunday, so meters were free. The interior is bright, green, and inviting, with lots of seating and great natural light coming in from the front windows. There's also outdoor seating, but it was a bit too cold the day we went, so we stayed inside. Service is counter-style, and the staff was very knowledgeable about the menu. It's fairly simple, but still fun and satisfying. I ordered an Impossible burger, tater tots, and a strawberry almond milk smoothie. My friend got fries, so I was able to try both. After over 40 days without fried food, I was especially excited for the tots and they did not disappoint. Overall, the food was good and solid across the board. Nothing that completely blew me away, but definitely satisfying. If you're vegan or vegetarian and craving a classic burger experience, this is a great option. The smoothie was good as well, though I personally prefer fruit-forward smoothies with lighter juices, so the almond milk base wasn't quite my favorite, but it still complemented the meal nicely. Overall, if you're looking for a casual sit-down spot with a cute atmosphere and a solid Impossible burger at a reasonable price, Elephant + Vine is a great choice. 3.5 out of 5 stars.

This review is not so much about the food; even though it was not that great. I ordered an…read moreImpossible burrito and I'm hoping I don't get sick. The Impossible ground beef looked pretty undercooked - it should be brown, not pink; just like beef made from cows. Definitely not worth the. $12 I paid What concerns me is that Veggitopia is located in some weird, wanna-be food hall with other fast food businesses; how do I know if the food is prepared in a dedicated vegan-only food area? I was hoping to have a nice sit-down dining experience but walked past the address twice before I realized the "food hall" was the place. It's located on a part of Superior Street that looks like the homeless should be camped out there. There are cars parked randomly on both sides of the street so you have to weave around them, as they are not even parked legally (double parked). Apparently, this is some kind of mecca for Uber Eats. You go inside a relatively small space and close what restaurant you want to order from on a self-service kiosk. No indoor dining here; everything is to-go. The food was made fairly quickly but now I have to sit in my car in 20 degree weather and eat it Definitely not a fan of this co-op food concept at all. Avoid using the restroom here. It looks like it should be in one of the Saw movies.

The orange tofu was even better, which I didn't think was possible given how much I already loved it. The owners are very nice and appreciative you're there. The lions mane grilled cheese had no flavor, the Italian beef was covered in pepper flakes to the point of it being inedible, and who packs up fries with the ketchup already on it?! The ketchup made the fries so soggy and it soaked through the bag. I really wanted to continue supporting this place but I'm honestly done. The poor reviews on Uber Eats should've been enough of a red flag.

Come here if you're ready to disappoint yourself and wait a really long time. I wasn't here intentionally because of the hype (hence absolutely no expectations); mostly because I was in the neighborhood and need to get some quick food for dinner because I was on a rush. I waited almost 15+ minutes for an order of burger and fries; another table has been waiting there longer than me and I can tell they are also quite impatient with the service. Originally, I expected the food to be at least hot because they are made to order, but the fries are soggy and lukewarm already and the burgers are also cold by the time I eat it (which is only about 10 minutes later). Then I'm really not sure why it takes so long to cook the food.

Sandwiches (7.5/10): The buffalo chicken sandwich had a bit of a kick as you worked through it. If you like buffalo this gets the job done. The honey butter chicken sandwich was the milder sweet counterpart for those who enjoy more subtle flavor. Overall for the sandwiches in general you definitely notice the quality of the tenders. They are white meat so give you that healthier vibe. What makes it better is that bc they are tenders the meat doesn't feel as dry. There's two pieces so more surface area for sauce and flavor to the meat than if it were once giant chicken breast. The buns were pretty standard. The one area of improvement I'd like to mention is there could be more coleslaw. Especially with something like the buffalo sandwich with a stronger flavor, you couldn't really taste the coleslaw and get that refreshing balance you need with the spice. Also for those who love crispy these tenders are not so crispy. Seeing the quality of the chicken tenders I'd like to try the other items besides the sandwiches on the menu. The fries were very good. They are similar to Popeyes Cajun fries in terms of texture and feel when you eat them. Mileage may very with the sogginess from delivery. Value (7/10): standard fair pricing

Urban Vegan never disappoints vegans like me, the quality of food is always good! We ordered Chicken nuggets for appetizer Green curry, Spicy noodle and orange chicken which were all delicious but the service could've been better. It fact it was disappointing. The server seemed to be cold and indifferent and giving minimal service. When I asked for extra plates so we could all share, she gave us small plates and didn't say anything. Another customer was asking multiple times for take out boxes, bigger take out boxes and a bag to carry their leftovers, this showed the lack of quality service was not just no limited to us. That's why I give this place four stars instead of five. I hope the service improves when we return next time.
