The Paul Derda Recreation Center - Yoga Area & Stairs

My wife, myself, and our 6-month baby were swimming laps (yes, laps in an infant flotation device)…read morein the lap pool lane when the lifeguard asked us to leave it for someone who 'actually wants to swim laps.' We explained that we are also swimming laps and we don't understand why we need to leave the lane for someone else who wants to do the same. The lifeguard told us the ~50 y/o man was rude to her, so she felt pressured to do so. We settled on splitting the lap pool into two sides (even though we are literally 3 people and he is 1). The guy didn't like that very much and he stood against the wall at one end of the pool for a while looking upset. When we swam to the end of the pool he was on, he forcefully splashed down into the water to send it into my baby son's face and made him gasp for breath and start crying. A male lifeguard witnessed this and went for help. When the manager arrived, she insisted that we leave the lane and when we refused, she asked that we instead continue 'sharing' the lap pool lane with the guy who assaulted our child. The best part is the first time we wanted to go swimming in Broomfield, we arrived at the other facility that has strictly lap pools and therapy pools and they suggested WE GO ELSEWHERE because it's NOT FOR BABIES. Ok then why does the 50 y/o creep get to come to the kids pool and demand we exit the lane? Thanks for being just another place in Colorado that hates babies. We are disgusted by the manager response. If you have an issue here, dial 911, cause no one is going to help you. Even when you go to a place built for children, they will act like they're worthless and an inconvenience to others. Review your policies.

He's on a government waiver that pays for his swim safety classes, which British Swim School knew about and claimed to have experience with. I PERSONALLY paid registration to Eliza, who enrolled us, to get him in and the government took over from there. Mind you, I'm supposed to be reimbursed for the registration fee and any additional funds from a $1000 check from the government. When I mentioned it to Eliza she stopped communicating with me. So my son missed swim class twice, once because of croup and the next weekend his dad tested positive for Covid. I followed all procedures and emailed and texted BSS. I actually called the hotel as well because it was short notice and I wanted everyone to know. The owner Nikki eventually called me and accuse my son of missing his first class too, so 3 in total, which was wrong and I corrected her on. The school literally took his picture on his first day. Then she has the audacity to say the same thing to my sons waiver case manager, who then expressed to me how rude Nikki was to him. This was my email to BSS after speaking with the case manager. "Hello, I just spoke with Elan, and he mentioned that Nikki complained about Lincoln missing two session. Lincoln had croup one week (could have been Covid we didn't test him) and the following week his dad tested positive for Covid. I would never bring a sick child into swim lessons and expose other children, so he missed those two sessions only. And I emailed and texted both times and I called the hotel to make sure everyone was informed about the Covid situation. Nikki then called me under the impression that Lincoln had missed his first session as well, which was incorrect, and I feel like because of that presumption and the funds issue, I have not been treated well by her. I understand there was an issue with the payment, which has been rectified, and I had zero control over; however, I do not understand the continued complaint about my sick child missing swim lessons. Please tell me what I should do differently if Lincoln is sick or exposed to Covid? This is not at all what I expected when I talked with Eliza about enrolling my special needs child at British Swim School. Amber Houghton" I posted a review here just like this one and Nikki called me extremely apologetic and wanting to make up the classes he my son had missed FINALLY. Then she did it again tonight. We were discussing additional classes and the payments and the registration fee. She told me she hasn't been paid as of yet by the government (again, they told me they've worked with these programs before) and that she can refund the registration fee when she received it from the government. I corrected her and let her know I paid out of pocket for the registration and my card should be on file. She responded with, "No card on file." I then responded with a screenshot of my confirmation email with my debit card number attached and on file. The amount of discrimination and disrespect is staggering. And I have all the emails and texts to prove it. I wanted to continue to see the swim instructor Sophia because she's amazing and I would gladly pay out of pocket, but instead I'll be canceling every session we have. Thank you Sophia, you were incredible. Nikki, you should be ashamed of yourself. And from what I can see from other reviews I'm not the only special needs parent having these issues.

We started swimming here when Tristan was 4 months old at their free mommy and me intro classes. Which of course we highly recommend! Miss Stacy has an amazing program that helps get moms, dads and babies ready and comfortable in the water. The price point per lesson is a bit high but no more than market standards as we have noticed. But the cost is truly worth it once you see your little ones start to swim and love the water. I would have loved to give a 5 star review but honestly had to hold back. I felt like when our teacher was out due to vacation, illness, etc we were very well accommodated but felt the lesson was sometimes a lost lesson because the sub wasn't always on the same page as our son. Yes be still was able to swim for the day or week as scheduled so his skills were touched on but each teacher had a different way with their own lessons and sometimes we felt this would have been easier to make up our lesson with our regular teacher who knew the skill set and advancement or challenges of our child. Overall a wonderful experience and we can't wait to go back after a short break

Also, charging a month up front is a great business decision but sucks as the consumer. I do not recommend this place. You can hire a private swim coach or pay $5 to go to a local pool and teach your kid to swim faster than these people. **Edit and Update** If I could give a negative star review I would. We missed two classes for various reasons and we tried to make them up but had issues because we weren't "active members" and they wanted us to pay more money to use the classes we already paid for. I went in to talk and pointed out this was t on the website but in a paper terms and conditions we signed (glad it was easy to go back and see, also nobody told us that when we previously asked about making up the class). She also had zero concern for trying to make us a happy customer. I suggested waiving the month fee and she essentially laughed at it and acted like her hands were tied after taking about $300 of our money. She could easily waive $20 but chose to have an angry and unhappy customer. I refuse to give this place any more money. This place may be the biggest scam I have encountered in my entire life. Stay away.

The Louisville Recreation & Senior Center has a scope and quality that you don't typically associate with a city-run facility. From the moment you step inside, it's clear this place was built with intention. The indoor track is clean, well-maintained, and practical -- ten laps to a mile, which makes it easy to track your progress without doing mental gymnastics. But the real standout for me was the cardio area and its view of the Flatirons. Working out with that backdrop isn't something you forget quickly. It shifts the whole experience from routine to something a little more elevated. The aquatics side is equally impressive. We're talking a six-lane, 25-meter lap pool alongside a program pool, a splash pool with a lazy river, a hot tub, sauna, steam room, and a cold plunge. Whether you're training seriously or just moving your body, the options are genuinely deep. I swam today and the water quality and lane availability were both solid. Beyond fitness, the senior center component is thoughtfully integrated -- not tucked away as an afterthought but woven into the full facility with its own lounge, library, games room, and fireplace. The Platinum Membership for seniors runs just $12/year for residents, which is almost comically good value given what's available here. This is a place that works for serious athletes, casual movers, older adults looking for community, and families with kids in tow. Louisville quietly built something worth the drive.
