This is the only negative review I have ever taken the time to write. Being a passionate vinyl lover myself with multiple turntable and receivers, my son decided he would like to give it a try and bought himself a turntable and receiver, which needed cleaning and servicing to get both channels working. The reviews and pics on this website all looked really good, along with a good turnaround time. But when we got the units back and setup at home after being "serviced", still had the same issue - could not get sound through both speakers at the same time. Took it back not once, but twice more within the next 60 days, and each time we were told "there's nothing wrong" but still couldn't get sound through both channels [original problem]. So, had no choice but to take the receiver and turntable to a well known and reputable shop in INGLEWOOD, whose staff went above and beyond in helping me sort out what the problem could be, narrowing it down to the turntable. Checked it in to the INGLEWOOD shop, and within a week - problem solved! In addition to fixing the channels issue, some very obvious other issues had been missed by Planet Hi-Fi, such as bent/broken stylus, counterweight needing to be replaced, and the tonearm being setup completely incorrectly. When I approached Planet Hi-Fi for only a partial refund, which was more than fair, I received the standard "well, you signed the release saying it was in working order", however - you HAVE to sign the release order to get your equipment back even though you won't know until you set it up whether it's actually working correctly or not. AND, only the receiver had been re-tested by Planet Hi-Fi at that point, even though I did not see what he actually hooked it up to when he said "it's working properly". Turns out, the problem was actually with the turntable. Planet Hi-Fi's response was that if there was a problem with it, he would have fixed it. It's too bad that my son's first experience into the world of vinyl ended up so negative. Needless to say, my experience was MUCH less than satisfactory. My advice ... pay the nominal diagnostic fee and go elsewhere for quality workmanship that stands behind what they do. I'm pretty sure you'll end up happier at the end of the day. read more
