Usually a great location. No hot water in the shower. WIFI doesn't appear to work either.

I visited Planet Fitness on N 5th Street Highway for my 1st workout in months, and was appalled on how many members are sitting at a work station on their phones and not allowing other members to use the machine because they are "Still using it." I am a Black Card Member and this really discouraged me to go back to this location. I am originally from the Shillington location. Planet Fitness should consider having a section for Black Card members in order to enjoy the benefits from it. read more

I was supposed to buy a Black Card Membership, but they want your bank account/routing number! Why I cannot give my credit card? I just want to pay a gym membership with my credit card, i dont want to give them access to my bank account. I dont need the convenience of still being able to go the gym after my cards been stolen, at the expense of these guys having my account and routing number. Obviously at the price you can't beat it. However, often times this location is over crowed,which leads to many machines being out of service and over equipment hoarded. There are also no more trainers available which is a bummer. But this location is very convenient if you live in Reading but that's the thing that makes it over crowded. Not enough equipment for its high traffic. I could still recommend it as a starting point though but eventually find another location. read more

They charge you even after you cancel and you can't use the membership but yet pay for a whole month. It's ridiculous. They also don't have a way to contact them over the phone for any concerns that you may have, this gym went to trash in the last 4 yrs. read more

We dropped in today unannounced to determine if they are following the governors & CDC requirements to wear masks inside businesses, especially fitness centers. The guy who greeted us had his mask under his nose and everyone working out had their masks under their chin while they exercised. The sign on the front door requiring everyone to wear masks is for show only. Do not go here if you want to avoid exposure to COVID-19. UPDATE: after this review was posted I received a request to email PF with my concerns. I did so and received a standard email which encouraged me to contact the management at PF to address my concerns. What am I, the PA Dept. of Health or the State Police? read more

First off, yes it's planet fitness and yes it's a corporate gym with cheesy commercials and 'I'm ok, you're ok' slogans and vibe, I get it. Still, this gym is very clean and was recently updated with a nice high intensity training area (ropes, kettle bells, balls, etc). If you are a black card member they have the free tanning and water massage stuff (it's only $10per month more to be a black card member). Locker room is nicer than other PF's I've been too and staff is friendly. For $10 per month, you can't beat it. If it had nicer equipment, classes, a juice bar and other amenities that higher end gyms have I might have given it 5 stars. read more

Recommended. Clean location including the bathrooms and shower area. It might be even cleaner if the membership would clean up after itself. You can't beat the price of $10 a month. Conveniently located near my workplace, but cancelled my subscription as I am in the process of changing jobs. They may have improved their exit mechanisms over the last several years as I didn't run into any problems cancelling my membership mentioned in other reviews. read more

You took away all the handicap parking which is illegal. waited 45 minutes to get on a lounge chair because one person is working on a Saturday and proceeded to show people around the club instead of waiting on a customer who has a long standing membership not good! read more

I regret having to report that I had to quit the club in haste after having felt oppressed by management when I was told I could not wear crocs. In addition to being a disabled veteran, it happened on Veterans Day as I was ending my workout. Mind you I've been a member for well over a year and visit the club 3 - 4 times a week and on EVERY visit, I have ALWAYS worn my crocs without commentary or incident. In fact, one of the club members complimented me on a new pair. Because of my disability, I have to wear footwear that is easy to put on and take off. I am told by their management that they don't allow crocs because of "safety concerns". The additional info nation I was provided was what if a weight fell on my foot. I guess they are not edified in footwear like full sneakers made of canvas which are even less safe than crocs. Even after I clearly explained to the manager that I have a disability and I do walk visibly assisted, she did not care. She did not care I am a disabled veteran and she did not care that it was veterans day. She also mentioned that it's out of her hands and after speaking to their corporate office, I was told each club can modify its own policy. So what I am left thinking? A power-hungry manager without empathy or sympathy. That's what I call a croc!! read more

Planet Fitness is just another corporate monster. Very unpleasant experience trying to cancel membership. Also they continued a month to month after my one year contract. I did not sign up for more than a year but they got me good and charged me thereafter the year had ended. Then once I reached the cancelation they make it extremely difficult to get it done. Ok, I was in the gym Tuesday night. Waited by the front desk for 15 min. so I could use the hydro bed. No one came to help me. Found the one person that was working cleaning the ladies room. She had asked if "MIKE" was on the floor somewhere? I replied "No "Turns out "MIKE" was fast asleep in hydro bed number one. Was still snoring away when I left. Nice! Wonder if they're hiring? I don't get the negative reviews on this place - to me it's one of the cleanest gyms I've worked out at and has rarely been extremely busy whenever I've gone. Can't beat that the place is open 24 hours too, which makes it convenient to go when you get a chance to- so far so good with me read more

This is a good planet fitness location. I'm aware of PF's business model, and although I don't agree with it, I can't punish this location with a bad review because of a system that's beyond their control. It's big. Lots of treadmills, cardio equipment, and weight machines. Limited free weights. No free barbells, EZ bars, etc. Three smith machines. A few lat towers/cable systems. I go during off hours, but I hear it gets pretty busy between 5 and 8. Although it's not my first choice as far as gyms go, I can get the job done with the tools they provide. You can't beat $20 a month, which includes access to all planet fitness locations as well as unlimited guests. read more

Canceling your membership has been a nightmare for my daughter who is 18 years old and is working her way through school. She was told one thing by a manager and her credit card was charged twice for no reason. When she called today 6/6/21 she could not get help because management was not there. We are reporting this company and location to the BBB for taking or overdraft of funds. This is a horrible experience. Parents please set up an account on a minimal credit card so that way you can monitor payments received by this company/facility. Horrible customer service. read more

This gym is marketed towards people that don't want to by in the same gym with hot shot / machos walking around the gym grunting and staring at themselves in the mirrors. (in fact they have about 3 mirrors). They have a sad excuse for massage chairs and tanning stalls that don't tan at all. I was a member here for nearly a year and finally had my wits end at this place. I've seem numerous people use a machine and sweat all over it.. and walk away without sanitizing it for the next user. High school kids come here and sit on the machines and gossip while other people are patiently waiting to hop on next. Sadly the employees who work there won't say anything to people that sit there and don't do anything. This gym has some nice hours for people that work late / and are night owls. The price is cheap, and you get what you pay for. read more

I only have minor issues with this PF. First being the music they play. It is not even music, it is screeching nonsense that makes you want to commit hari Kari~. During the times I am there it is mostly older folks. But they do not consider that the sounds they play are god awful to us. It is for teenagers not adults. The other is the shower area. It is floored with hard tile that is always wet and slippery. I don't know who the genius was that thought hard slick tile should be in wet area. I enjoyed working out there. However, I am finding it nearly impossible to cancel my membership. I mailed them a letter to cancel and they lost it or somehow didn't receive it. I tried to cancel over the phone and that was not good enough for them due to some corporate policy. I filed a complaint with the PA attorney general. This gym has the worst customer service that you can imagine. The people who work there don't understand the concept of customer service. If there is a simple misunderstanding about your membership, then most likely you will not get it resolved. The police showed up yesterday at this gym because a customer was assaulted by the staff member! Avoid this gym at all costs! read more

I went to the gym for years. Enjoy seeing my friends. Until my husband joined, and seek out for help with a Amanda the fitness trainer. To find out she was texting him every night. Then sending selfie from the bathroom. On her work time. How professional!!! especially when I'm working out there too. How uncomfortable! When we left this gym.
