Pros: 1.good amount of large capacity and small capacity washing machines. 2. Large dryers that cost .39 cents per 10 minutes to dry clothes. 3.Easy to use loadable pay card. 4. Clothes tables and 1 washing sink. The Cons: 1. Washing machines are a bit pricey. $9 charged to my pay card to use the 7 loads capacity washing machine. To make the most of this I was able to fit all of my clothes. 2. To wash separate clothes I used a smaller machine that still charged an extra $6.09 to the card. It adds up quick. 3. The dryers I used only went up to 10 minutes at a time . The first drying cycle was not enough to dry my clothes. 4. The holes inside the dryer are a bit large. One of the metal tips to one of my drawstrings got caught and damaged when pulling the clothes out of the dryer. 5. The pay card screen to load your card is a bit old so it's tricky to get the reader to read your card. It will take a few tries. Over all decent experience. The place is kind of small with limited waiting hairs. read more

I only come here to wash my comforters. 3 of their large machines are out of order. 2 of them have been out of order for months. Now the only common sink they have doesn't work either. For these prices, everything should be in working order. read more

Went in to do a load of laundry, and the lady working there was not only rude and disrespectful of us and our belongings but was also racist. She made remarks about our English to another customer and kicked our laundry basket around to sweep. She must have been in a bad mood and was slamming doors shut and threw an extension cord that nearly hit me. To add onto that, she was making annoyed faces the entire time and when approached about it, she said l "don't talk to me" like if her whole job isn't customer service based???If I had to work at a laundry mat I wouldn't be happy either but that's no excuse to take it out on your customers. The location was convenient because it was next door to where we were eating dinner and we need to wash baseball uniforms during a travel weekend. That was the only reason I would give this place one star. The worker was not friendly when I asked if they had any machines that used quarters. When I returned with my credit card to purchase a "laundry card" which she said was necessary to use any of their machines the card reader would not work and she would not help. I have used your laundromat several times and the machines do a decent job. However, I was not a happy camper when the Shorewood location was closed and I could not use the same card I purchased at your Plainfield location just 4 miles away to do my laundry. I was not interested in purchasing another card when I have some money on the Shorewood card. Frustrated customer! read more

I visited here twice for the full service wash. The lady at the counter helped me navigate the machine and took my laundry both times. They called when it was ready and I was very happy with the washing, folding and fresh smell of my laundry!! read more

Had to get mother in law's laundry done quickly and efficiently so I decided to try a laundromat for the first time in years. Glad I picked SoapOpera! First attendant (Sherita?) was so patient and supportive, walking me through best machines for the size loads, figuring out dryer costs to load my card (so much easier than having to load up on quarters like back in the day!). Shift change during the process, introduced me to next attendant (Mina/Nina?), I observed her wiping everything down, cleaning lint traps, sweeping - the place is spotless! And she was just as helpful to another family as Sherita was to me. Friendly, helpful, clean, easy to use. This is a great place with great staff. read more

As for the drop off service advertised as 4 minutes........ It probably works better if they have someone working and who can be on time. This is the third time in three months I've had to wait over 30 minutes for someone to show up so I can pick up. Something to consider if you use this service. read more

This place is super clean and organized. You can drop your laundry off and have it washed and dried for you for an extra fee. Get a card and load it with $$ to use the machines. Sometimes you get bonus $ added on! I suggest a 4 or 8 load washer...more bang for your buck! Just make sure you put enough detergent in!! The dryers usually take 2-3 10min cycles to dry all of your items...I think it's less than 20 cents per go... If you have a big family and are coming here to do laundry I suggest you look into just buying yourself a washer....a few trips here with whites, darks, delicates and work clothes (I.e. lots of separate machines needing to be run) will cost you a small fortune! My boyfriend and I both have the type of jobs where lots of things HAVE to be washed separate from everything else ...so we gave up on the laundromat idea really quick! read more

I've gone here when I either had a large load of clothes/comforters or issues with my home machine. I've never had an issue...all the machines worked with no problems....always very clean.....I got exactly what I expected and what I needed. Being new to the area my neighbors suggested that my family and I go here to wash until our washer and dryer was delivered..... and I promise you that I will never forget my horrible experience at this establishment! Machines were not functioning and dryers were not drying. After I informed the person on duty she called with me standing by her the owner who had the audacity to say tell them no refunds and they can go somewhere else to wash! I was livid especially after spending 60 dollars to wash and dry (which dryers took over a hour to get somewhat dry....not completely dry somewhat dry) lucky I was able to get home a hang all items around the house to fully dry but this location needs TO BE REMOVED read more

We had a couple comforters to wash and decided to try out Soap Opera Laundromat. It was our first time here after haven't been to a laundromat in like 10 years. I used this laundromat as my washing machine at home died. The place is clean, but the washers and driers are confusing to use, and there was no attendant to ask questions. You don't use coins but have to pay for a debit card to use. Many of the smaller washers and dryers were out of service, but there is a digital read out stating so; it would be so much better if there was a sign on the machine itself so it is more apparent instead of after loading the machine and wasting detergent. One of the washers leaked, and I reported it to the attendant that did finally show up, but she just merely put a towel down but did not do anything else. The dryer dries in incriments of 10 minutes, but no additional time can be added until the first 10 minutes is used up, so it was a pain to always stand by to wait for the timer on the driers to end on dryers #10 and #11. The facility itself is terribly, terribly hot, and there was no place to sit and wait. I will try a different place in the future if I need to. Average load to wash was $3.99 each. Drying was .39 per 10 minutes. I spent about $34 to wash and dry 7 loads. read more

The large machines are very confusing to use, so don't go without an attendant on duty if this is your first time. I spent $35 doing 2 loads of laundry, not including drying. I messed up one cycle by trying to stop the machine because it wouldn't let me select the temperature. I never did figure that out, so everything washed on warm. The washers don't work according to the instructions. The poor woman next to me was frustrated because, after several cycles, her clothes were dripping wet when she took them out. The attendant doesn't start work until 3pm, so there is no one to help. Also, the machine displays the remaining wash time for the first cycle, but not the rest of the full cycle, so you have no idea how long it will take for your clothes to wash- and that info isn't posted anywhere. Finally, there are only 4 chairs to sit in while you wait, so if they are full, you have to stand or leave and wait somewhere else. I would have taken my clothes home wet if I had a working dryer at home. So disgusted. read more

I'm not anti-technology but this place is kind of a rip-off because of the "debit card" system they use. It costs $1 to get the card - which is the only way to use the machines since none of them take coins - which you then charge up with cash or credit cards. This *might* make sense if you're planning to be a regular but for someone like me who just stopped in to do a load of laundry because I had other business in town, it's a total waste. Not only did the prices seem a bit higher than the place where I usually go ($2.99 for a front load washer vs $2.50, $.39/7 minutes drying vs $.25/8 minutes) but with the odd pricing structure, I still had money on the card I couldn't use. So the guy got an extra $1.20-something out of me because of this convoluted system. I even left with my clothes only half dry because I wasn't about to recharge the card with even more money. Oh well, chalk it to stupidity on my part. The next time I walk into one of these card-operated laundromats, I'll walk right out again (unless I can use my actual debit card and only pay for what I use, just like coin-op).
