Our expectations for orthodontic care have been far exceeded by the staff and Dr. Proctor. My Dentist recommended Dr. Sanders as I was previously a patient of Dr. Atkinson who had retired. I am also a unique case as I was going into this third round to have upper & lower jaw surgery with the braces. I was extremely excited to learn that Dr. Sanders specializes in surgery cases and I was on board immediately. Dr. Sanders is very meticulous in his work. He worked diligently with me, my dentist and my surgeon to make sure my jaw journey would have the best end result. He never rushed the process (although my teeth wouldn't have allowed that anyway because they were pretty happy where they were to begin with) and was always very positive with me when I had concerns. He even personally called me to calm me down when I was worried about how off my bite was after surgery. This Dr. works magic, let me tell you. My bite was so far off after surgery that I was sure the surgeon messed something up and I'd have to go through that misery once again. He assured me that sometimes after surgery the bite is not where it should be and that he was confident he could make it perfect. It was amazing how quickly my bite changed for the better. It was quite a process for me and he and his staff were always MORE THAN patient with me. His staff truly are amazing people who are very gentle as well as respectful of everyone's specific needs. I will hands-down recommend Dr. Sanders and his team to anyone (young or, in my case, OLD) seeking orthodontia. I'm now 39 yrs, 5 months old and I got my braces off today! It has been 7 months since my jaw surgery. With how far off my bite was after surgery, I was hoping to get my braces off by my 40th birthday. Well, Dr. Sanders and his team amazed me and now they're off much earlier than I had anticipated. Thanks so much Dr. Sanders & team!

Seemed to be trying to upsell me. Definitely beware of this dental office and maybe even avoid it…read more I have GERD and am prone to dental problems. I went in for emergency care for a toothache in a molar when my regular dental office was often booked out and told me my insurance maxed out which I thought couldn't be correct as I didn't know dental insurance often had limits on what it will cover each year. Had to make multiple appointments and they were all close together. At Placerville Dental, the receptionist lady who handles billing told me that my insurance would fully cover it. A few months later, I received a surprise bill statement in the mail of nearly $1,000, apparently, I was lied to. I called asking why this happened. I was told it just took a while to verify with my insurance. Seems like a lame excuse. They said I had five cavities in my lower teeth. They numbed my entire lower jaw and did five fillings at once. Later, one of my premolars had a toothache. My regular dentist from Mather Field Dental recommended I get a root canal in that tooth and consult with an endodontist. The endodontist looked at my X-rays and said that the filling Placerville Dental placed in that tooth is right up against the nerve, irritating it. I got a root canal in the tooth that probably could have been avoided if the dentist at Placerville Dental did a better job. Placerville Dental did a cleaning and a non-surgical laser treatment in addition to a cleaning I got. As someone with health-related anxiety/OCD, this gave me the illusion that I was being given exceptional care. One of the times at Placerville Dental, when I expressed dental discomfort, the dentist dismissed me saying it was food on my teeth, which I did have as I didn't have time to brush my teeth properly beforehand. Yes, it's a good idea to clean your teeth right before dental appointments, but the dentist remarked that in such a way that it made me feel scolded. How rude. At one point, the dentist at Placerville Dental took X-rays and this time said the tooth with the toothache had irreversible pulpitis, but when I went to an emergency visit with my regular dentist, Dr. Tapang at Mather Field Dental, he took an X-ray and he also agreed that there was an infection in the tooth. He prescribed me a course of antibiotics and it made the toothache go away while Placerville Dental didn't do sh*t.

Then, I started having issues with the left side if my mouth. Dr. Little suggested crowns. My insurance allowance had already been used so, I scheduled my appointment for after the first of the year. I called ahead of time to find out how much I needed to pay out of pocket and was given the price. When I arrived for my appointment they informed me it would be an extra 100.00 on top of the almost 600.00 out of pocket that I came prepared to pay. Then I was told they wanted to start on the right side of my mouth (the side that has given me no trouble) once the tooth was drilled out and a temporary crown put on, I was then given a referral for a root canal in case the pain got worse while waiting for the permanent crown. Why wasn't this explained prior? We had already discussed that I didn't want to get a root canal. So, I go to schedule to put the permanent in and I'm told I'd have to wait until mid March (it takes 2 weeks for the tooth to come back) so they send me away with a repair kit "because it's likely my temporary will come out" I'm not saying the man shouldn't take a vacation but, his office shouldn't schedule treatments unless his availability allows him to finish the job. I complained enough and was seen a month later. The tooth with the crown is feeling better. But, the tooth next to it that he put a filling in hasn't stopped hurting. I'm living off of tylenol and motrin for some type of relief. All for a side if my mouth that wasn't bothering me to begin with! Meanwhile, I'm also still having the original issue with the left side of my mouth. So, I've made an appointment with a new dentist and I'll be stuck paying out of pocket since Littles office used my allowance on a crown I probably didn't need in the first place.

Unfortunately, my experience with the office receptionist, Jay, was incredibly disappointing and unprofessional. When I called, Jay was initially very informative, answering all my questions regarding insurance, the types of fillings used, and how payments would be handled--an important factor for me since the cost of my treatment would use up my entire insurance allowance for the year. After our conversation, I felt reassured enough to move forward with scheduling an appointment. However, I was informed that the office requires a 25% deposit to schedule, with payment in full required on the day of the procedure. Since the total cost was around $2,000, I asked if they would be willing to offer a payment plan for the remaining balance after the deposit. Jay immediately said no, which I understood, and I politely explained that I would need to find an office that could accommodate a payment plan. At this point, Jay snickered and told me she felt like I had just wasted her time. Shocked by her response, I asked if she thought it was unreasonable for a patient to inquire about a surgical procedure and insurance coverage before committing. Instead of addressing my concern professionally, she raised her voice and told me it was, in fact, a waste of time--adding that there was already a note in my file stating I was "going somewhere else." The only reason I had requested my X-rays was to obtain an additional quote, which is a completely reasonable and responsible step for a patient. Jay continued to talk over me as I attempted to clarify, forcing me to confirm her name and let her know that her behavior was incredibly unprofessional. If this is the treatment a potential patient receives from the front desk, it raises serious concerns about the professionalism and patient care within the rest of the office. Is this type of behavior accepted or even fostered by the practice? It was a huge red flag and left me with zero confidence in trusting this office with my dental care. Patients deserve to be treated with respect, especially when making important healthcare decisions. I would strongly advise anyone considering this office to be cautious and ensure they feel comfortable with the level of professionalism before proceeding.
