Located within the Old Jewish Quarter, Plac Nowy 1 is beautiful on the inside. Spacious with lots of open space, it's an inviting restaurant. Service was top notch and the restrooms clean, but the food could use a little love. In our group of ten, plates were hit or miss. For example, the flank steak was good but not the short ribs. I ordered the Korean chicken burger and it was not as I expected. I assumed a chicken patty or burger would be on it. Instead, three lumpy chicken bites like those found in Orange Chicken came in between two pieces of bun. It made it difficult to eat. The chicken pieces fell out and I was left with a soggy bun with too much ginger and sauce. I wouldn't order it again. However, I appreciated their drink list that included a refreshing semi sweet hard cider. They also have strong WiFi with the password printed on every menu. If you want Polish food, don't go here. The place is quite good. We arrived quite late at night, being told in another place that the kitchen is already closed, and after looking for a place we could still eat in, we were positively surprised that they had that possibility. The staff was nice and our food arrived in a quite timely manner, they let us know that the kitchen would be closing soon, but waited for us to make an order. You'll find most of the classics, redone, with a little bit of a twist - zurek in a saucepan, tartar pre-shaped, and more. From what I was told, this is a new place in Kazimierz and since I was visiting Kraków, I figured I'd give it a shot. Excellent modern interior with bricks scaling random walls, different plants on each table, small trees in pots, and other random fixtures scattered throughout the place. My date and I thoroughly enjoyed our pints (which came with some type of flavored honey that you pour in the drink) as we conversed throughout the evening. I did not get to try to food but from what I saw on everyone's tables it sure looked tasty, but I was saving myself for the legendary zapekanka right outside the building! But that being said, I love the overall vibe of this place and hope one day to return to Kraków to come here again! read more

The bowling alley in the basement of Plac Nowy 1 has six lanes. The equipment is quite modern. The lanes employ free-fall pinsetters instead of the cheaper string pinsetters. When the bowl strikes the pins they fly about more freely and make a nice satisfying sound. Me and my friends had been bowling at Prominent before. Everyone agreed that the experience at Plac Nowy is much better. The lane fees here are relatively high though. On the weekend it cost 95 zł an hour in the evening. Kinda an expensive form of entertainment unless you're with a group. read more

Booked a table for two on a Saturday evening. When I got in I said "I have a reservation for two", and got as answer: "A table for two? Hmmm. Do you have a reservation?". After being seated close to the bar we order our food and two glasses of red wine. We got two glasses of white wine, which we had sent back (without problem). The red wine that we got was cold though. We ordered sous-vide duckbreast, which came with potatoes, apples, a small salad, and a nice sauce. The duckbreast was good, but the potatoes somewhat tasteless and dry, and the fried apple could have used some spices (cinnamon, honey, lemon, etc.). The salad (a 'spaghetti' of various vegetables) was warm unfortunately, perhaps because it had been on the hot duckbreast too long or had been waiting under a light. The desserts were absolutely perfect and recommendable though. One was the plum crumble with a tasty basil ice cream and the other a chocolate fondant with a sauce of celery and white chocolate (surprisingly good!), lemon ice cream and compote of red fruits. One of the best desserts I had in Krakow. Will we be back? Potentially. The place was decorated very nicely and modern (read: minimalistic and industrial) but as a result somewhat noisy. Nice place to enjoy the outdoors (assuming seating available). A few good beer options, with a couple seasonal ones. I tried the beer with fresh strawberries. The sous vide cod was exceptionally good! I would avoid the pstrang (trout) as it was a lot of work to sift out all the tiny bones.

This restaurant has a very relaxing atmosphere and the food is delicious. I ordered the ribs with potato pancakes (which were amazing) and kraut. The ribs came with BBQ sauce that was hearty and tasty. My girl ordered the meat dumplings with buckwheat and I tasted some and they too were delicious. read more

Food and service excellent. The Burger was dilicious. The thing, that completely spoiled the evening was the payment. We were a group of 13, each of us wanted to pay their portion of the bill. So instead of each of us going to the cashier and create separate bills, we were given 1 Bill, each of us was to calculate how much we are to pay, tell her the amount and it would would be summed up (because she cannot split the bill or calculate it herself, as she dies not have a calculator). read more
