What an adorable ice cream shoppe! We walked in on a random Saturday afternoon and walked right up to the counter. There were a couple of teenagers working who greeted us warmly and served us swiftly. I had a double scoop of O-O-Oreo & Michigan Pot Hole. The Oreo was the typical cookies and cream you might find at Baskin-Robbins or the grocery store. The Michigan Pot Hole was chocolate ice cream with fudge and chocolate chunks that reminded me of Reese's peanut butter cups. Both were very good. I ordered the adult double, but in hindsight I should've ordered a kiddie scoop. The regular double is way too much. I didn't even eat most of the second scoop. The Michigan Pot Hole was good but it was much too rich. After awhile I started taking out the chocolate chunks. My sister had the Eskimo Kisses, which was coconut ice cream with chocolate truffles and fudge. She also had the Michigan Pot Hole. She didn't like the Eskimo Kisses but enjoyed the Michigan Pot Hole. My godmother had butter pecan on a cone. Again, there was a lot of ice cream but she enjoyed it. A coworker had been telling her to try PJs so she was happy to finally stop in. The location is spacious and clean. We sat outside since the weather was nice. I think it cost $25 for the three double scoops. My sister also gave the two teens serving the ice cream a $5 tip. I'd visit PJ's again in the future for sure. read more

The service is quick, but they do not seem very friendly. They seemed like they were alright to help me, but towards my fiancé, a little weirded out. The building is cute and tiny, but plenty of seating. The choice of ice cream was a lot, compared to where we are used to, so that is 100% a bonus! Ice cream is good, does melt fast but has a good melting consistency! If we were here longer, we would stop in again! read more

I could write a really lengthy review on this place (as I have done before) but this time I'll keep it short: The new owners really know what they are doing. Since the purchased pjs about a year ago, Tonya has been changing things for the better. New tables and chairs, a fresh coat of paint, things like that. But the most important thing that has changed is that the fun and welcoming atmosphere has returned. PJs is once again the neighborhood hangout that it used to be. Scout groups and study groups meet frequently, people play cards and board games, and you can even rent the place out for birthday party's and such. (And the ice cream selection is awesome!) I was passing through and wanted to get my son some ice cream, so we stopped here. The line was long and incredibly slow moving that it was extremely off putting. Our all time favorite ice cream place. Many flavors and fast friendly service. Paula always has fresh gourmet coffee on, and she makes great chili and soups to warm you on a chilly day. Many evenings you will find families coming in for ice cream and to play some board games. There is often a jig saw puzzle being worked on in the shop that everyone is invited to join in on. During the school year, and especially on weekends, you will find students from Olivet Nazarene University in nearby Bourbonnais, enjoying the friendly confines, ice cream, board games, music, and coffee. Yeah, they feel right at home here in this friendly place. PJ's has great ice cream and a wide variety of flavors to meet anyone's taste requirements. And now she has added Italian Ice for an added treat. The brand of ice cream she carries is smooth and excellent. I can't wait to come back and have some more! Love PJ's! So many delicious flavors and you can't beat the prices. Love the fun activities they put together for the kids every now and again too! If I'm bummed about anything, it's the hours. Their chocolate peanut butter cup is my favorite, but I've tried many other flavors and they've all been amazing. They are VERY reasonably priced, as well. Headed south to check out the night sky and sought this place out after finding it on google maps. The atmosphere is awesome - Large groups of locals, old, young, skinny, fan, happy, and sad! They have 20+ board games to play, 2 checkers tables, and another 20 puzzles. There is a free cd exchange and books to read too.. Oh back to the reason we went - Starfish and coffee, maple syrup and jam. Buterscotch clouds, a tangerine, and a side order of ham. If you set your mind free baby, .... (oops song stuck in my head) Ice cream and coffee - The iced, mocha latte tasted like an iced mocha latte. It was in a fairly large glass ($3.75). The apple strussel was out of this world good! The grapefruit gelato was not. There are a ton of flavors to try. Definitely worth the trip over if you're headed south out of town. read more
