This was a way for the wealthy residents to sell their wine directly to the customers. Recently, during Covid, they made a comeback as there is a natural distancing of people that keeps close contact to a minimum. This particular wine window at Cantina de Pucci is super popular often with lines forming down the sidewalk and plenty of people taking photos. We finally went to it for some wine and photos (in that order). There is an old school countertop bell for service and to announce the arrival of your order. The window is a bit low so most people have to bend down for service. This also means the order taker has to kneel on a pillow when at the window. I had a glass of Chianti and my daughter had an Aperol Spritz. We really enjoyed our experience here and recommend it.

And super close to the Duomo, water, and other tourist locations, but not a tourist trap guaranteed! One of my favorite Italian ristorantes so far in terms of taste, quality, concept, and value! Also my partner's FAVORITE restaurant so far and I've honestly never seen this man express beyond a nonchalant "it's good" about his food. He was actually describing the textures "perfectly cooked... In that transition phase between cooked and uncooked" (he means Al dente) and flavors of his spaghetti Pomodoro to me with shining eyes that only foodies have. Omg it was a memorable moment for both of us, the food was truly that delicious. Try one of their many prix fixe menus - 10, 15 (the only vegetarian friendly prix fixe), 20, or 24 (meat eaters only). Water or housemade wine (yes! The owner lady makes her own!) + primi + secondi. Unfortunately these options are not vegan friendly, but the regular menu has plenty of variety for everyone. Portion sizes here btw are HUGE. Unsalted "bland" bread characteristic of Tuscany was served to start, which is included in the mandatory 1.50 euro cover charge per person. However, not sure if owners were being kind, we were not charged this tonight. Partner ordered the 15 euro prix fixe (vegetarian available) dinner. Do try their pasta options - simple but finest quality and cooked to perfection. His eggplant parmesan secondi was smaller than expected, but perfect because the primi was gigantic. I ordered the seafood 20 euro prix fixe dinner and asked for dairy-free. Ricotta with prawns was creamy (but has no cream or butter or cheese upon my request) and huge and a bit spicy, but that's what made it so interesting. The salmon trout with salad secondi was smaller than expected, but perfect size overall because the risotto primi was so big. The salmon was average, not the best I've had, probably because it is not buttered, but on the drier end which I like. They take cards - MasterCard, visa, and american express. Will most likely be back :)

Happy to say this place is still just as amazing as I remember it almost 10 years ago!…read more A couple of girlfriends and I discovered Pensavo Peggio during our first trip to Italy in 2017, and it quickly became one of the reasons Florence became one of my favorite cities. Back then, I ordered the Osso Buco, Lasagna, and Tiramisu--and I still remembered how incredible everything was. So, of course, when I returned nearly 10 years later, I had to order the same meals... and yes, I said meals! Fabrizio, the same server who took care of me in 2017, asked, "Are you sure you want two dinners?" I told him, "Yes! I want to try them both." Fast-forward to 2026: I walked back in two days ago, reminded Fabrizio of our conversation, and told him I was ordering both again. He immediately started laughing. Some things never change! My boyfriend ordered the pappardelle and instantly fell in love with it. We also shared a delicious cheese and meat platter and, of course, finished with Tiramisu. Nearly 10 years later, Pensavo Peggio still holds a special place in my heart. Highly recommend this cute little spot! It just goes to show that sometimes the best memories--and the best meals--are found when you venture off the beaten path. Some places are simply worth coming back to.

Ryan made our experience a million times better. He was detailed, kind, and patient as I navigated the menu with my allergy. I also have to highlight that we went to Venice, Florence, and Rome during our trip and the pizza at Trattoria La Madia was THE BEST of all the places we dined at.
