PizzaLuxe is located on the lower level of the Manchester Arndale, as part of the Halle Place Dining Quarter, in the unit previously occupied by Starbucks.
The restaurant is fairly modern and cool, I like what they've done with the place, despite being a mall location, and I like the comfortable green sofa-style seating.
My server was very friendly and happy to help, he had a good knowledge of the menu, including what could be made gluten-free, and helped explain the allergen processes after asking if I was coeliac to assure me regarding my food being safe.
The prices are reasonable and in line with the major chains, the gluten-free pizza base is a little pricey though as it has a £3 surcharge, compared to the major chain Italians nearby which does not have this charge. I do understand that they have extra costs for making it gluten-free, and as a smaller company they have to pass this onto the consumer though, so I can't fault them for that.
PRO TIP: They do have a couple of discounts available including for some key workers and via Meerkat Meals. I managed to save 25% via Meerkat Meals, making my food very good value.
I ordered the gluten-free Pollo Pizza, the base was actually really good, it was crispy and looked great. I liked how the chicken was cut into small strips, making it easy to eat on the pizza. The mushrooms were especially good quality also. There was a slight saltiness to the pizza which I didn't like though, and I couldn't work out where it was coming from. I would have liked a little more tomato sauce on the pizza, as I could barely see it, but all in all, I did enjoy it.
Due to being inside the shopping centre, they do close a little earlier than other restaurants elsewhere in the city centre, especially on a Sunday, so do make note of that when planning a visit.
Many positives for sure, and one of the best gluten-free pizza bases in town and friendly service. I would return. 4* read more
