Having been there a number of times, I have had chance to sample a variety of dishes. The pasta was gorgeous, the meat was cooked to perfection and the fish was so fresh it almost jumped off the table, but despite the quality of these dishes, there are certain ones that stand out like an overeater at a buffet table - most notably the calamari. This dish is the stuff of legend and is proof that you don't have pay to go to Michelin star restaurants to find culinary excellence. Besides the regular menu, there is also a great value lunchtime menu that offers two courses for £9.99 with a glass of wine thrown in for good measure. What's more, they have recently started up a take-away service, which means you can now enjoy this authentic Italian food in the comfort of your own home. While the speed of service can be hit and miss at times, they can often be forgiven as the restaurant is frequently fully booked and the friendly staff clearly work hard to serve everyone as quickly and efficiently as possible. All in all, if you love Italian food, you will love La Trattoria.

The menu is quite varied and includes pastas and sharing options. Drinks include delicious smoothies as well as the usual soft drinks and coffees. On the pepsi and tango you also get unlimited free refills which can be great if you're planning on devouring a large pizza to yourself! If you're driving there I'd say try to park directly behin pizza hut (away from the argos side) as the middle (main) car park gets pretty full. Found just off Fothergill Street in the Treforest area of Pontypridd, Dominos was my weapon of choice on many a hangover day. The delivery was quick, precise and exactly what I'd ordered every time, and the deal was sweetened even further with the local branch commonly handing out booklets consisting largely of "two for one" coupons. Sadly, with standards this high, the only way was down. Feeling the after-effects of a night out the other day, I turned to my old pal Domino for a helping hand. Sadly what arrived half an hour later was the wrong order; wrong topping, wrong base. Sigh. A mistake, yes. An unforgivable sin, no. Finding myself in a similar state a couple of weeks later, I decided to give them a second chance, only to have my loyalty rewarded with another completely wrong order. They won't be getting a third chance off me any time soon, but with an area full of students, there is no doubt their business will go from strength to strength for a long time to come.
