I have a friend who is obsessed with Pizza Rev. I can only assume this obsession goes beyond normal logic. I know for a fact it has something to do with alcohol consumption. A few summers ago, we spent a lot of late nights, very intoxicated on Hindley St. We had a particular route carved out - starting at the Exeter, trampling through Rundle Mall, stopping a dive bar, stopping at Pizza Rev, then continuing on to Supermild. And while I still think a whole pizza at Australian Pizza House for $10 makes more sense, my friend became obsessed with the $4 slices Pizza Rev peddle at 3am in the morning.
I can't say that I really *get it*, but I acknowledge there is something hilarious and fun about lining up for a single slice of pizza at a tiny bright red takeaway joint blaring Katy Perry at top volume. And then there is something equally exciting (perhaps because of the life-endangering drunk, sweaty crowds that pass by and try to 'interact' with you) about sitting outside and eating your slice of triple meat and cheese. One very special night, my friend was honoured enough to be invited into the 'Rev Room', a private function room below Pizza Rev, entry through a 'secret door'. Or at least that is how he describes it. Something tells me it was slightly less exclusive and magical than that.
In any case, if you're drunk and it's late enough, you can grab some pizza here. read more
