No greeting, no please, no thank you, no enjoy your meal, no facial expression. Went for the lunch buffet since the price is less. The salad bar could use more salad bar options instead of the non-salad toppings. It's not a very impressive salad bar. On the other hand, their chicken is outstanding, so juicy and delicious. I love their mashed potatoes and gravy as well. They could use a bigger selection of pizza in the buffet. Three types of dessert pizza is nice but more of a selection of savory pizza would be more appreciated. Yes, you can request a pizza that you'd like but for me, it's a bit awkward requesting more than one and you'd have to know the names of their specialty pizzas to request them. Our favorite is the Tuscan Roma, alfredo sauce, cheese, spinach and tomatoes on a thin and crispy crust. It's nice having the option of a bit of ice cream at the end. Like everything, prices have gone up here, too. Will have to stick to weekday lunches. Oh, they have coke products for soda. Be forewarned, it is quite noisy in here but not more than what's expected for a pizza place with an arcade. read more

Love the food here but massive communication breakdown when my family set a reservation on a Saturday to eat brunch here the next day (Sunday). I totally get ongoing staffing shortages and how it could affect open and close hours. I would not be upset if this were the case and clearly relayed to us when setting up the reservation. What I can't stand is poor, unclear communication. When my father in law scheduled the reservation, the person who took the call (on Saturday) wrote down the time and said "you're all set!" The reservation time was set for 10:15am on Sunday. He actually had to call back again to move the reservation back by 15 minutes to 10:30am. Again, the person (different person from the first time) who took the call seemed fine with that and confirmed the adjustment. We arrive at 10:30 for our reservation and the restaurant is not even open yet. Feeling quite confused, and admittedly a bit "hangry" at this point, we looked at the business hours on the website (attached). Odd, it states specific hours of operation open at 9:00am. Big fail number 1- taking the reservation at all. This feels obvious but why would you accept the reservation request for this time if you knew you weren't going to be open? But not only that, maybe it's a silly mistake, I'll grant it. We actually called again and the reservation was confirmed again, with a separate employee! So we've called twice and been confirmed twice and yet the place isn't open. Big fail number 2- not properly training employees to answer the phone and correctly state your open hours when requesting reservations. Again, since this happened twice, it's extra frustrating. I'll grant a mistake can happen with an employee, no one is perfect. But when two separate employees confirm a reservation for a time when the restaurant isn't even open, I don't understand how that leads to effective business and satisfied customers. TL;DR- communicate clearer, train your employees, and be better. read more

Not a big fan of this place. First, I would suggest you NOT go to the Pizza Ranch for the pizza. The salad bar is pretty darned good, as it their fried chicken. The pizza is mediocre and they put out some odd combinations. Most sit out, uneaten or half eaten, and get thrown away. Sometimes, there is nothing out their one would want to eat. Their ice cream for dessert, is just that, ice cream with no toppings of any kind. We did use the ice cream on a "dessert" pizza and that was pretty good. It's an average place to eat. read more

We brought in a party of 16 on a busy weeknight, and I've got to give credit where credit is due. The awesome staff at Pizza Ranch kept the buffet tables and salad bar stocked with great-tasting, hot, fresh pizza! There was a lot of variety too- a meat lovers special, taco, buffalo chicken, hawaiian, and plenty of others to keep anyone happy and satisfied. Restaurant was extremely dirty with food all over the floors. Booth tables had huge tear in seating pads. Pizza was very limited and had no kid options for cheese or pepperoni the entire time were there. They didn't have bowls for the ice cream machine. Worst pizza ranch I have been to. This place is absolutely disgusting. Walk around and look at the walls and baseboards. They are filthy with dirt, grime, dust, and who knows what else. The place smells like dirty carpet. I had not been able to find fried chicken I liked in Dubuque. In fact, one of the hardest parts of moving out here is that although my cooking improved (from fresh local goodness), the restaurants are nowhere near like what I am used to in NYC. I gave up on fried chicken. Until Pizza Ranch opened. Now their pizza is fine; it is not what I prefer, but I will never get Brooklyn style pizza out here, and I understand that. And I even like their dessert pizzas. But their fried chicken? Fantastic. Nice crunch, not greasy, flavorful, and the chicken inside isn't slimy or rubbery. It's just perfectly done, and perfectly seasoned. That's the appeal of it to me. That, and the people who work there are so kind, and friendly. Very genuine. I've never had reason to grump, and always have reason to just want to give them warm fuzzy hugs -- they're just that nice! And they're involved in the community, letting different teams and charities bus tables for tips. I love that because it puts a face to the people you donate to. Makes it more personal. And you can't beat the prices. It's a nice place to go out with the family, a nice atmosphere, and built in such a way that even with kids, you don't feel it is noisy. Also, I always favorably review places where I can comfortably take my autistic 8 year old boy. He's mellow there because it's such a comfortable place, and no one looks at him funny if he hums (not loudly, he just can't speak) or with other things that may make him stand out (like the computer he uses to speak). Went to Dubuque for a night with the fam to visit Field of Dreams in nearby Dyersville. Pizza Ranch was on our hotel key and also had been recommended by someone, so we thought we'd give it a try. It looks like a new location. Loved the ranch themeing that hits you as soon as you walk in. We arrived around 3pm on a Sunday so it wasn't very busy, but the food was still fresh and plentiful on the buffet. I liked that you could order any kind of pizza you want and they'd deliver it right to our table. As we were first timers, Destiny was working the cash register and was helpful and patient with our questions. We had a party of 9 with no issues. I loved that they charged for kids based on their age. Obviously my 3 year old doesn't eat as much as his 10 year old cousin. I wish more places did this! The pizza was good and there was a nice variety. I loved the cactus bread dessert pizza. Fried chicken was yummy as well, and the soft serve machine is always a welcome sight at a buffet. Everything was very clean, from the dishes to the silverware, the booths and the restrooms. Sadly I'm not sure I'll ever get to eat at this location again. Might have to figure out a reason to go back to Dubuque in the future. read more

Fantastic! This place was the best! I stopped there while we are on vacation in WI. One of the best experiences in a long time. Everyone was extremely friendly and the food was good! They have a salad bar which is great because it gets your metabolism for the feast! They have great chicken which is something that you wouldn't expect from a pizza buffet. They also have a great selection of different kinds of pizza which all taste great! I have also never seen such good looking desert pizza. They also have great ice cream. and the staff is super friendly. The restaurant is very clean and they have a great overall family friendly atmosphere which is great for the whole family! read more

My two friends and I came to this restaurant on a busy night and the restaurant appeared short-shifted. We chose not to do buffet (we soon came to regret that decision). However, there were no menus to be found. The girl at the register briefly explained they were waiting for more to be delivered. Ordering was difficult. Only one person in our party was familiar enough to order. The girl at the register seemed confused over the whole process - at one point my friend asked her if she was going to give her a table number. The employee seemed even more confused and said something about the printer not working. I placed my order next, for the same food and was charged $3 less than my friend. Finally with number in hand, we found a booth in the back and we waited with our numbers prominently displayed. And waited. And waited some more. Twice a server wondering around with pizza tried to give it to us (we ordered chicken and had table numbers.) So we waited and waited some more, about 45 minutes.Finally, after again being offered yet another pizza we asked for the manger. After 15 minutes she appeared and she was concerned about how long we had waited. She left, promising to look into it. At some point a server explained that the "chicken machine" wasn't working. After about 10 minutes one of the servers came back to our table and said that of meals were ready and on the heater. The was a pause and I asked "So, we're supposed go up and get them?" The server shrugged and my friend mentioned that we were dine-in and we showed our receipts. Mass confusion. The server leaves, and we being plans to raid the buffet. But here, at last, our food! Well some of it anyway. Only two meals had been packed into to-go boxes. Worse it seemed our third friend's meal had been lost. We asked for the manager again, and also for some plates an utensils, As my friend and I devoured our food, we waited and waited. The Manager came by with plates and utensils and a promise that her chicken was almost nearly done. 15 minutes later we flagged down a server and ask if her meal is ready. We were promised that it is on its way. By this point, my meal-less friend was beginning to grow disturbingly pale and was slowly sliding down in her seat. So for the sake of her health we suggested that she just go and get whatever she wanted from the buffet, which she did, and took only the items that she had paid for. About half an hour later, a server shows up with her meal. We take it anyway even though we had all finished our food by then. And we again asked for the manager. To her credit, the manager refunded our meals and apologized profusely. She explained the aforementioned malfunctioning chicken machines and printers and communications, which I understand would make things into a disaster on a Friday night. But the servers there were very young and very untrained which was unfortunate. The food-when it finally arrived-was good. It arrived hot and we ate it quickly especially the fried chicken, which has some really tasty skin. And of course you cannot resist their biscuits! I would avoid this restaurant on typically busy days and nights, like Fridays and Saturdays. My two previous visits were during slow times and I never had any service problems during those visits. read more

The food is great! I'm not a huge pizza fan but the variety is awesome! The fried chicken is the best in town too! My only suggestion is to expand the buffets, make them bigger or double sided. My boyfriend and I went to pizza ranch for supper the other night, he has Invisalign for those of you who don't know what that is its like braces but there clear plastic liners. Every time he eats he takes them out and puts them in a napkin one of the workers picked them up with out noticing and threw them away. Later when we were done eating we noticed they were gone. I went to the manager and asked if I could look through the garbage to fine them she said some one would do it but I couldn't. I agreed and less then 2 minutes they said they couldn't find them. My boyfriends dad called saying how expensive they were and they need to look again. She okayed it and claimed they looked again, And couldn't fine them. After arguing for 5 minutes she agreed to bring it out back and let me look through it. My boyfriend and I looked through it and in less then 5 minutes found them. I know they did not look through the garbage because they would of found them. Very disappointed in the service and dishonesty in this pizza ranch. I know I will not be going back. The lady was also very rude when we found them. Maybe next time you should take your customers more seriously. read more
