Pizza of the month and AB7
    Nayeli R.

Pearl St is buzzing with its food scene, including Pizza on Pearl St. We arrived on a Saturday as soon as it had opened and people were already lined up to order pizza. My husband and I tried 4 different slices: - The Wally - thin crust, pesto base w/cupped pepperoni, hot honey, and fresh mozzarella - AB7 - thin crust, red sauce base w/cupped pepperoni, hot honey, and ricotta - my favorite!! - Hawaiian (thin crust) - Pizza of the Month - a thick white slice (no base sauce), pepperoni, topped with a drizzle of each sauce: red, pesto, and vodka Overall, the pizza here is BOMB and they have a wide range of slices to choose from on the menu. Service is quick, we ordered and our slices were warm and ready to eat within a few minutes. They also have a small parking lot out upfront, but we parked on the street fine. I can't wait to come back and try some more slices from Pizza on Pearl!

Dinner in San Diego, California... My cousins requested a place with pizza, beer, and a big screen TV... so that they could watch the football game. (Sorry, I can't remember who was playing... LOL!) I used my Yelp app and found: Pizza on Pearl This is a casual, cozy, low-key place with a small, shared, free parking lot right in front... and convenient restroom way in the back. The staff were friendly and helpful! We ordered at the counter and sat at a table. We were called when our warmed-up slices were ready to be picked up. We all enjoyed the crisp, thin crust A LOT! It was almost like a cracker, but lighter. The toppings were wonderful! I had a slice of The Greek, and then a slice of Verde. Both were delicious! Thanks for the hospitality and yummy pizza!

I'm leaving 3 stars because while the pizza tasted great and they had a lot of unique flavors to choose from, I was really disappointed to find mold on the cheesecake slice I purchased for over $7. That's honestly unacceptable and pretty concerning from a food safety standpoint. The pizza itself was enjoyable, but the dessert experience definitely ruined part of the visit for me. I hope they pay closer attention to freshness and quality control moving forward.

Pizza on Pearl is super underrated. They're $5 a slice. We got the Miramar. It's a white sauce thin crust pizza with pepperoni, bacon and spinach. Honestly one of the best things I've eaten today on my food adventure in La Jolla. I'll definitely be recommending this pizza joint and revisiting to try their other slices.

Prices are kind of steep and the food was not memorable. The staff is decent and the wait was short. There's almost never any parking because the business next door always has a line out the door.

It doesn't look like much on the inside but for a slice shop, this among the best pizza I've had. The pesto pepperoni and the chicken bacon ranch were the best. Perfect crisp on the dough, pepperonis were delicious, loved every single slice. Go here!

Great selection of NY slices (some with a California twist). We got the BBQ Chicken, The hot honey with pepperoni (not the pesto version), and a slice of cheese (not pictured). All were good and hearty (generous portions), but none I would crave. It's a good place to go if you are hungry and looking for something quick and relatively inexpensive, but personally I prefer Regents, Bronx or Moto as far as taste goes. Parking is a little tough here. If you are local or within walking distance, it makes it much easier. It's in the same strip as The Taco Stand, an Empanada place, and a burger place and there are only 5-6 shared parking spots. The server was not very friendly but maybe he was just having a bad day. Inside there were tables and a TV. The water button did not work very well on the soda machine. You need a code to use the restroom. Over all they have solid slices, but not somewhere I'd go out of my way to go. A+ for presentation though--the slices were visually appealing!

First time trying out this place and it was a good pizza ! I like how it was somewhat of a thin crust but my favorite was more of the stuffed knots they had. 10/10 would get that again. As for the pizza it was good just for me personally when biting into it, it was just super greasy. I loved the spot though they give good big portions and they're quick as well so the service is really good here. I recommend trying the stuffed knots ! Also just an FYI there's limited parking

My fiance and I ordered for a delivery from here last night. We ordered the Supreme Pizza which includes a variety of meat and veggies their garlic knots and a calzone like pizza bite. The Garlic Knot stuffed with cheese pepperoni and jalapeno was amazing! I'm really picky with bread dough and they had top-notch quality. Our pizza tasted fresh and tasty. A little spicy too! Quality is great I was very pleased. And it traveled well! 10 and out of 10 great pizza spot

I was excited to try this place because I saw some reviews on Instagram and the food looked delicious. Its located in a very small complex right on Pearl Street. If you blink you may drive right by it. Parking is very limited so we ended up parking in the neighborhood just to the west of it. We had a very short walk to get there. The pizza shop is very small and there is limited seating. We got there just before it got busy so we were lucky to get a table. The pizza's and knots we ordered were premade and they heat them up in the oven which makes sense but the garlic knots were pretty dry when we got them. I wish they had brushed them with some garlic butter after pulling them out of the oven because they needs some help. They are supposed to come with either ranch or marinara but we were not asked nor offered that option. My daughter and I both got a slice of the BCR (bacon, chicken, caramelized onion and ranch) pizza and it was amazing! Flavor is next level! My combo came with a salad which I picked Caesar and that was really good. Their Caesar dressing is like a vinaigrette, not creamy like most caesar dressing. I loved it! They were generous with the cheese and croutons on the salad. My son got meat lovers and buffalo pizza and his came with a small cup of ranch. The buffalo has garlic, chicken, buffalo sauce and ranch. It was really delicious! I only had one bite but my son said eating a whole slice it was spicy. My bite I didn't get spicy flavor however. He said the meat lovers was great. The pizza is thin and crispy. Overall really good. The customer service was meh. I mean there were several people working and no one was friendly. I felt rushed to order. Again, they didn't offer us the dipping sauces for the garlic knots and they ended up not charging us for my daughters slice and drink. I highly recommend the BCR and buffalo pizza. If you get the garlic knots make sure they give you the dipping sauce because without that they are dry and not buttery and garlicy like you would expect.

$25 for 4 slices of pizza is a joke. New owners, pizza is paper thin and ridiculously expensive. Lost our business.

The ravioli was the standout of the night, thin pasta with just enough filling for a delightful bite. The bucatini all'amatriciana wasn't quite what I'm accustomed to, the guanciale was ground rather than diced, and the sauce leaned more toward a meat sauce with an oily finish, not really my style, though the pasta itself was cooked well al dente. The steak, on the other hand, was excellent. Cocktails were great, and the staff were attentive throughout. For dessert, the trio was a nice way to sample a few things, though I wish they offered smaller sampler portions instead of full-size pieces. The Basque cheesecake was excellent and the semifreddo was perfect with a nice crust. The chocolate torte was good but couldn't compete with the other two. Overall a strong dinner spot in La Jolla, especially for pasta lovers and sunset views.

We called an hour ahead to reserve a table and luckily they had availability. We ordered the crudo and octopus as appetizers. The crudo was served with fresh tuna topped with a sweet melon sauce (not to my liking, but still appreciated). The octopus was delicious. For our entrees, we ordered the pistachio pesto pizza, raviolli, and beef ziti. The pizza was my favorite (i love anything pistachio) especially enjoyed the pistachio pesto. I appreciate the thin dough of raviolli and the ziti was good. Overall food was good. Our server's name was Kevin, he was friendly and gave great service.

The host was so friendly when we walked up and started what was an amazing dinner with them. Our server was just the same and just such an enjoyable dining experience. My husband and I came to The Spot for the World Cup Final and showed up around 10:45 AM to find a pretty long line already forming. When the doors opened at 11, we were greeted and promptly seated by a lovely woman named Kat. Right away, she kindly explained that because of how busy they were, we would need to continue ordering in order to keep our table. Completely understandable considering it was the WORLD CUP FINAL! We also noticed they had signage throughout the restaurant explaining the same policy, so expectations were very clear from the start. My husband and I own a restaurant ourselves, so we tend to notice the little things when we're out. We were both so impressed watching Kat run around the entire restaurant making sure everyone was taken care of, refilling waters, checking on tables, helping the staff, and jumping in wherever she was needed. And somehow doing all of it in heels! Since there were only two of us and we were seated at a four-top, they occasionally sat other guests in the two empty seats at our table. Kat asked us every single time if we were comfortable sharing before seating anyone, which we really appreciated. It was incredibly busy, so we completely understood them wanting to make use of every available seat. Our server, Ryan, was also wonderful and attentive, especially considering how packed the place was! At one point, we watched Kat have to ask the table next to us to leave after they had closed out their check and apparently planned on staying for the rest of the game without ordering anything else. They were extremely rude to her and even shoved the booth table as they were getting up, which was completely unnecessary. She handled the entire interaction calmly and professionally despite their behavior. As restaurant owners ourselves, we know how difficult situations like that can be, especially during a huge event when you have people waiting outside for a table. And the food!! We had their pizza and it was TO DIE FOR!!! Seriously so good. Between the food, the service, and how well the staff handled such an insanely busy day, we had a fantastic experience.
