Dinner in San Diego, California... My cousins requested a place with pizza, beer, and a big screen TV... so that they could watch the football game. (Sorry, I can't remember who was playing... LOL!) I used my Yelp app and found: Pizza on Pearl This is a casual, cozy, low-key place with a small, shared, free parking lot right in front... and convenient restroom way in the back. The staff were friendly and helpful! We ordered at the counter and sat at a table. We were called when our warmed-up slices were ready to be picked up. We all enjoyed the crisp, thin crust A LOT! It was almost like a cracker, but lighter. The toppings were wonderful! I had a slice of The Greek, and then a slice of Verde. Both were delicious! Thanks for the hospitality and yummy pizza!

Pizza on Pearl is super underrated. They're $5 a slice. We got the Miramar. It's a white sauce thin crust pizza with pepperoni, bacon and spinach. Honestly one of the best things I've eaten today on my food adventure in La Jolla. I'll definitely be recommending this pizza joint and revisiting to try their other slices.

Prices are kind of steep and the food was not memorable. The staff is decent and the wait was short. There's almost never any parking because the business next door always has a line out the door.

It doesn't look like much on the inside but for a slice shop, this among the best pizza I've had. The pesto pepperoni and the chicken bacon ranch were the best. Perfect crisp on the dough, pepperonis were delicious, loved every single slice. Go here!

Great selection of NY slices (some with a California twist). We got the BBQ Chicken, The hot honey with pepperoni (not the pesto version), and a slice of cheese (not pictured). All were good and hearty (generous portions), but none I would crave. It's a good place to go if you are hungry and looking for something quick and relatively inexpensive, but personally I prefer Regents, Bronx or Moto as far as taste goes. Parking is a little tough here. If you are local or within walking distance, it makes it much easier. It's in the same strip as The Taco Stand, an Empanada place, and a burger place and there are only 5-6 shared parking spots. The server was not very friendly but maybe he was just having a bad day. Inside there were tables and a TV. The water button did not work very well on the soda machine. You need a code to use the restroom. Over all they have solid slices, but not somewhere I'd go out of my way to go. A+ for presentation though--the slices were visually appealing!

First time trying out this place and it was a good pizza ! I like how it was somewhat of a thin crust but my favorite was more of the stuffed knots they had. 10/10 would get that again. As for the pizza it was good just for me personally when biting into it, it was just super greasy. I loved the spot though they give good big portions and they're quick as well so the service is really good here. I recommend trying the stuffed knots ! Also just an FYI there's limited parking

My fiance and I ordered for a delivery from here last night. We ordered the Supreme Pizza which includes a variety of meat and veggies their garlic knots and a calzone like pizza bite. The Garlic Knot stuffed with cheese pepperoni and jalapeno was amazing! I'm really picky with bread dough and they had top-notch quality. Our pizza tasted fresh and tasty. A little spicy too! Quality is great I was very pleased. And it traveled well! 10 and out of 10 great pizza spot

I was excited to try this place because I saw some reviews on Instagram and the food looked delicious. Its located in a very small complex right on Pearl Street. If you blink you may drive right by it. Parking is very limited so we ended up parking in the neighborhood just to the west of it. We had a very short walk to get there. The pizza shop is very small and there is limited seating. We got there just before it got busy so we were lucky to get a table. The pizza's and knots we ordered were premade and they heat them up in the oven which makes sense but the garlic knots were pretty dry when we got them. I wish they had brushed them with some garlic butter after pulling them out of the oven because they needs some help. They are supposed to come with either ranch or marinara but we were not asked nor offered that option. My daughter and I both got a slice of the BCR (bacon, chicken, caramelized onion and ranch) pizza and it was amazing! Flavor is next level! My combo came with a salad which I picked Caesar and that was really good. Their Caesar dressing is like a vinaigrette, not creamy like most caesar dressing. I loved it! They were generous with the cheese and croutons on the salad. My son got meat lovers and buffalo pizza and his came with a small cup of ranch. The buffalo has garlic, chicken, buffalo sauce and ranch. It was really delicious! I only had one bite but my son said eating a whole slice it was spicy. My bite I didn't get spicy flavor however. He said the meat lovers was great. The pizza is thin and crispy. Overall really good. The customer service was meh. I mean there were several people working and no one was friendly. I felt rushed to order. Again, they didn't offer us the dipping sauces for the garlic knots and they ended up not charging us for my daughters slice and drink. I highly recommend the BCR and buffalo pizza. If you get the garlic knots make sure they give you the dipping sauce because without that they are dry and not buttery and garlicy like you would expect.

This was an unexpected surprise. I thought it would be more mediocre but everything was really good. I loved the ambiance- it was very relaxed but clean and a nice place to eat with kids. The service was prompt and helpful. The food was really good! The garlic knots are a must and the kids really loved their pizza slices- they ate them all, which is rare.

$25 for 4 slices of pizza is a joke. New owners, pizza is paper thin and ridiculously expensive. Lost our business.

We called to add a couple extra people, and then those people didn't show; they rolled with the punches. The table was set when we got there. Service throughout was friendly, prompt, over and above. Ambiance was great, in a very important way: There was nice music, but you could hear yourself think! Nobody had to repeat themselves a million times. Perfect sound level for a group our size. But the food was the absolute star of the show. Literally everything was perfect. For shareable appetizers, we got both the trio and the mezze plate. It was basically hummus flights, with pita triangles and multicolored carrots. All the hummus types were delicious. But a special shout-out to the truffle hummus--it was divine. It was very truffle-y, but it was also very light and creamy. Somehow that's not a combo I expected. Next, I'm already a falafel fan, but good *Lord* their falafel was unreal. Some kind of perfect crispiness on the outside and soft flakiness inside that I've never experienced before in falafel. I asked the server what he'd recommend, and he said beef kebab. I got the beef kebab. He was not wrong. The meat itself was sumptuous. And I just moved from Texas, where every other backyard BBQ has someone smoking their brisket for 18 hours. This was the kind of cook where even the marbling melts in your mouth. Even the carrots were good, I don't know what to tell ya. 10/10.

The restaurant truly carries an authentic Italian charm -- warm, welcoming, and family-oriented in a way that reminded me deeply of my years living in Italy. Knowing the family is originally from Milan made the experience feel even more genuine. Toward the end of the evening, we were the last guests there, and the quiet ambiance brought back so many memories of late dinners in Italy where conversations linger long after the meal is finished. Most importantly, you can absolutely taste the authenticity in the food. The flavors were rich, comforting, and unmistakably Italian -- not overly commercialized, but truly traditional. A lovely experience overall and one that brought back fond memories for me.

I also wasn't wild about the parmagiana eggplant appetizer. The eggplant could have been more tender and the pesto was too strong for me. But my meal got better! He switched to a Hugo spritz and it was delicious and very strong. And my main course, the fusilloni with pesto and burrata, was delicious. The pasta was perfectly firm, and the pesto was less overpowering. There was not that much burrata, but they brought me extra Parmesan and it was delicious that way. So overall a good and pleasant meal. The vegan bruschetta was also good for sharing, though a little one for one person to have on their own.

They were kind of like stale, thin McDonald's fries with Parmesan and too much bacon... I don't know, I literally didn't finish them. I wanted to like them, though. So anyway then my friend got the risotto, and I asked to try it so I could maybe order some to bring home for my wife. But uh... it was pretty greasy. That's great for some folks but it's definitely not what we would have gone for. I got the Insalata Carlotta, which was decent. I really like capers and arugula, a couple of the featured ingredients. The service I thought was good. My friend didn't get there for a while and it was just me answering emails on my phone lol. The server took my cues really well on when I was and wasn't ready to order. Ambience wasn't bad either. Nice little spot nestled in between buildings. I think it's just that I wasn't a big fan of the food itself.

Overall, the food and experience felt average to me, which is why I landed at 3 stars. Not bad, just okay. I had no prior knowledge of the restaurant, their brand, popular menu items, or social media presence. To be fair, doing a bit more research beforehand might have helped me get more out of the experience and try what they're best known for. This is a casual neighborhood spot, so there's no need to dress up. Their tagline, "Where the locals eat," fits the vibe well. The staff are friendly. An older woman was kind and social. She showered me in compliments and the spent some time chatting with the table next to us. It gave the place a neighborhood, familial feel where the staff seem comfortable engaging with guests. Our server was polite, though a bit rushed. He would check in, start a conversation, and then quickly move on mid-sentence. I ordered the Malbec, Antigal (Argentina). It's a $15 bottle retail and priced at $15 per glass. We ordered the Mussels and Focaccia bread as an appetizer. The broth was a bit on the salty side, though the fries on top were cooked well. The bread felt a little firm and could have been fresher. If you're seated at a 2-person table, space can be tight once both appetizers and entrees arrive. We ended up moving to a larger table to accommodate everything. The portion sizes and plates are large and can be shared among 2-3 people. I ordered the Rigatoni Bolognese, which was underwhelming for me. My husband ordered the 24-Hour Braised Beef Short Ribs and really enjoyed them. He said they were tender and flavorful. For our special occasion, we were treated to their homemade mud pie dessert. It's a coffee flavored ice cream with an Oreo crumb crust topped with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle. The portion was very HUGE and more than we could finish. It became a bit repetitive after a few bites. The slice portion can be shared up to 3-4 people, in my opinion. If I were to return, I'd be interested in trying some of the dishes they highlight on social media rather than sticking to the more standard Italian options.
