Popped into Pizza on Pearl for a quick slice while the rest of my party stayed in line for The Taco Stand. I got a slice of their North Park and was seriously impressed. Incredible flavors! Such a great pizza spot. I really enjoyed it. The salad was amazing and very fresh. The dressing was good too. The pizza crust dough was crispy and fluffy inside. The thin pizza was very crispy and tasty too I cannot wait to come back to try other flavors. Service was very friendly and she worked quick! I will have to say we came at opening and the door was open so we walked in, it was 1 minute until opening. We didn't know we weren't allowed in, but an older man yelled at us "ONE MORE MINUTE" and asked us to leave. He was very rude and off putting about it. He didn't look like he was in a good mood. I didn't appreciate that. Then when we got in, we didn't even feel welcome lol. Someone just opened the door and left it open and walked back inside and didn't say hi. We got in then needed some time to look over the options of slices lol, so we weren't even ready. Also, when we got in to use the restroom, the restroom was completely filthy, out of hand soap, paper towels, and out of toilet liners... the floor was so wet. The seats inside the restaurant was also very dirty and greasy. Parmesan cheese and large crust crumbs all over the chair seats and tables lol. I would have appreciated a stocked bathroom at opening and a cleaner eating area because we dined inside and this was our first stop in La Jolla for our trip. Regardless, we will come back! I have passed by this spot numerous times on my way whenever I go to taco stand but did not make the trek here until recently. All of the parking around here is street parking, though there technically is a lot, it is always full. I got 2 slices (veggie and the other one was a pepperoni honey one), both of which were $10 ($5 per slice), and it was absolutely delicious!!! I loved the thin crust and the pizza was not too doughy tasting. It doesn't have the greasy pizza taste to it either, which I really liked. The service was quick and there are a couple of tables inside. I would recommend going out to the beach and eating it if you can. I'll definitely be back to try more slices! read more

Dinner in San Diego, California... My cousins requested a place with pizza, beer, and a big screen TV... so that they could watch the football game. (Sorry, I can't remember who was playing... LOL!) I used my Yelp app and found: Pizza on Pearl This is a casual, cozy, low-key place with a small, shared, free parking lot right in front... and convenient restroom way in the back. The staff were friendly and helpful! We ordered at the counter and sat at a table. We were called when our warmed-up slices were ready to be picked up. We all enjoyed the crisp, thin crust A LOT! It was almost like a cracker, but lighter. The toppings were wonderful! I had a slice of The Greek, and then a slice of Verde. Both were delicious! Saw the next door Taco Stand with a line all the way to Los Angeles. LOL Decided to dine at this place instead. Customer service not the best, they looked at me like I was bothering them when trying to order. My pizza was burned on the bottom and sides and I didn't care to tell them as I wanted to get back home. The orange canned beverage was quite tasty though. (A' Siciliana Sicilian Sparkling Blood Orange). When I left the pizza place I saw the line at Taco Stand was still long but moving so I opted to leave anyway. I'm leaving 3 stars because while the pizza tasted great and they had a lot of unique flavors to choose from, I was really disappointed to find mold on the cheesecake slice I purchased for over $7. That's honestly unacceptable and pretty concerning from a food safety standpoint. The pizza itself was enjoyable, but the dessert experience definitely ruined part of the visit for me. Great selection of NY slices (some with a California twist). We got the BBQ Chicken, The hot honey with pepperoni (not the pesto version), and a slice of cheese (not pictured). All were good and hearty (generous portions), but none I would crave. It's a good place to go if you are hungry and looking for something quick and relatively inexpensive, but personally I prefer Regents, Bronx or Moto as far as taste goes. Parking is a little tough here. If you are local or within walking distance, it makes it much easier. It's in the same strip as The Taco Stand, an Empanada place, and a burger place and there are only 5-6 shared parking spots. The server was not very friendly but maybe he was just having a bad day. Inside there were tables and a TV. The water button did not work very well on the soda machine. You need a code to use the restroom. Over all they have solid slices, but not somewhere I'd go out of my way to go. A+ for presentation though--the slices were visually appealing! read more

Came in on a Friday night, none of the employees knew what was going on. Didn't take orders for 10 minutes while the line grew .. after I got attitude from the cashier , she took my order , and then asked me "what a supreme pizza was". Left it in the oven too long and I went home with burnt pizza. Poor guy next to me was there before I even arrived and they got his order wrong twice and he was still waiting when I left. Terrible! Don't eat here. Apparently the only way you can order for delivery is on their website. We needed a gluten free pizza among other things. Instead of calling me to tell me they were out of gluten free, the order was delivered sans gluten free pizza. We have someone with a gluten allergy, so this was unacceptable. No apology was given. I was excited to try this place because I saw some reviews on Instagram and the food looked delicious. Its located in a very small complex right on Pearl Street. If you blink you may drive right by it. Parking is very limited so we ended up parking in the neighborhood just to the west of it. We had a very short walk to get there. The pizza shop is very small and there is limited seating. We got there just before it got busy so we were lucky to get a table. The pizza's and knots we ordered were premade and they heat them up in the oven which makes sense but the garlic knots were pretty dry when we got them. I wish they had brushed them with some garlic butter after pulling them out of the oven because they needs some help. They are supposed to come with either ranch or marinara but we were not asked nor offered that option. My daughter and I both got a slice of the BCR (bacon, chicken, caramelized onion and ranch) pizza and it was amazing! Flavor is next level! My combo came with a salad which I picked Caesar and that was really good. Their Caesar dressing is like a vinaigrette, not creamy like most caesar dressing. I loved it! They were generous with the cheese and croutons on the salad. My son got meat lovers and buffalo pizza and his came with a small cup of ranch. The buffalo has garlic, chicken, buffalo sauce and ranch. It was really delicious! I only had one bite but my son said eating a whole slice it was spicy. My bite I didn't get spicy flavor however. He said the meat lovers was great. The pizza is thin and crispy. Overall really good. The customer service was meh. I mean there were several people working and no one was friendly. I felt rushed to order. Again, they didn't offer us the dipping sauces for the garlic knots and they ended up not charging us for my daughters slice and drink. I highly recommend the BCR and buffalo pizza. They did not have one of the toppings I ordered and did not call me or tell the driver from Uber. The lady on the phone had a big mouth, and acted rude and entitled, not remorseful. If she had just said, I'm sorry about that, it would have been enough. Humility goes a long way. I asked for the manager and the woman was cagey, and said the manager's name was "Jay" (which I am not sure is accurate based on her cagey behavior and her laughing at me) and tthat he wasn't there. Really? Over a weekend when you are the busiest? The woman on the phone acted like a gatekeeper at a doctor's office. This is a pizza place. Your clientele and word of mouth is everything. The manager should be proud of his job. I hope the owner see this. Lorna's on governor drive is about as good, and they have better parking, and employees with manners. I suggest that the owner play at "undercover boss" and pretend to be a normal customer, and order something or ask to speak to the manager. Then you'll get it. I also got a garlic knot which was very garlicky so that was yum! They call them garlic knots but it's more like a garlic bread stick lol. Each slice is $4 and a garlic knot is $1.50. First of all, the pizza slices are HUGE. We're talking Costco sized slices, and while they were definitely more expensive than Costco, I'm not complaining. They were so yummy and my kids were in heaven. The staff was very friendly and practically held my hand from start to finish to make sure I was taken care of. Now I understand why this place has stayed in business for so long! I usually get tacos next door when I am in the area but was feeling pizza and decided it was finally time to try it since there was not a wait when I went in the afternoon on a Saturday. They display their pizzas by the slice similar to Bronx Pizza in Hillcrest but have more variety in flavor combinations and toppings. Each slice was $4 and they even have garlic knots and stuffed bread knots! I am so glad I noticed the garlic knots because they were heavenly; I would return just for those. The dough is soft and fluffy on the inside and the crust is flavored well without being too oily. They heat up the slices for you so that each slice is piping hot and fresh out of the oven when you eat them. The crust is thin and the ingredients are well-balanced. The sauces were not too salty or overpowering. Price-wise, it is comparable to Bronx Pizza but a little higher to accommodate the fact that they do accept card payments. The garlic knots are 6 for $6 and for the size of each one, that is not bad. Their service was fast and the interior felt spacious. I would recommend if you're in the La Jolla area! read more

Solid 4 stars . I really enjoyed eating here after spending a nice day at windnsea beach . My friend loves it here and I can see why. Highly recommend their house salad and their ranch dressing . It's packed with feta cheese , Peperoncini , tomato and red onions . It's so delicious. I also recommend their garlic twists . They are the bomb ! Their bbq chicken pizza was amazing .
