A friend had clued me in that this was the best pizza that Tampa had to offer, so a group of us who either currently live in or formerly lived in NJ went to try it out to see if it measures up. The place gives off old school vibes, with plenty of New York sports pictures, jerseys, and memorabilia up on the walls, as well as having that distinct smell of a proper NJ area pizzeria that sets your expectations pretty high. We wanted to try out a variety of items, so we started off with the mozzarella sticks and garlic knots. The mozzarella sticks (3/5) were forgettably average, with minimal taste in the breading and served up with an underwhelming tomato sauce (wasn't a proper marinara sauce). The garlic knots (4.5/5) were highly impressive, served piping hot in a very unique pull-apart portion. It was delicious and the texture of it was just right, though one minor critique was that the accompanying sauce was more butter with a lesser garlic taste than I'm used to (more emphasis on olive oil & garlic, and less emphasis on butter back home in NJ). The pizza (3.75/5) was probably one of the best I've had in the state of Florida, with a combination of good tasting crust, sauce, and cheese reminiscent of flavors of a proper Jersey pizzeria. The base was cooked to perfection, and we were happy to have tried it out shortly after it came out of the oven. While there was a touch of excess oil on the pizza surface and it would get lost in mediocrity if it was served up in NJ, I found it highly impressive for Florida pizza, as it sure to satisfy any pizza craving.
