THREE STRIKES FOR THE "TRIPLE TREAT BOX" (TTB, for short)!
Ordering delivery from Pizza Hut can be 'hit or miss'. It is only because of the occasional 'hits' that I still order from there; and the reason for a 3-star review rather than a 2-star review (perhaps a bit of nostalgia factors in, as well, given that this Pizza Hut has been in my neighborhood decades).
My husband and I decided to order delivery from Pizza Hut for dinner last night. We went with the TTB, which consists of pizza (2 mediums), breadsticks (or cheesesticks), and dessert (a chocolate chip cookie, roughly the size of a small pizza, or a 9-square pan of brownies), all for $19.99 plus tax and a $3 delivery charge (and up-charges for specialty pizzas, extra cheese or what not). I know that sounds like a great deal (minus the up-charges, of course) but keep in mind the old saying "you get what you pay for".
In the case of our particular TTB, the pizzas were over-cooked and barely warm (we live a mere 8 blocks away, where pizzas from shops further away tend to arrive piping hot); the breadsticks were not only over-cooked and barely warm, like the pizzas, they weren't cut properly so they ripped apart when served; last, but not least, the brownies stuck to the bottom of the pan... BADLY... so they could not be served intact, either. Not to mention, the brownies were placed in the same box as the breadsticks (UNCOVERED, mind you) so they had the faint taste of Parmesan cheese and Italian herbs. Yum...NOT!
Let us not forget the boneless, honey bbq, chicken wings we ordered, in addition to the TTB. They, too, were barely warm (notice a pattern here?), had very little sauce when compared to those we've had from there in the past, and sorely lacked the wonderful 'CRUNCH' I love about Pizza Hut's (or, should I say, Wing Street's) boneless wings.
All-in-all, the meal was edible, which is why I didn't call to discuss it with the manager on duty (that, and the fact that it was late in the evening so we were too hungry to wait for replacements). It was just a very disappointing 'miss' that didn't come close to satisfying my craving for the quality Pizza Hut pizza (etc.) that I remember from past 'hits'. Sure, we'll give them another try in the future but, probably, not for SEVERAL months, when our disappointment over last night's experience has had time to fade from our memories (and our tastebuds). read more
