I became a Pizza Hut delivery driver for a brief 10 minutes tonight. This small place is takeaway and delivery only.
We've spent a few days with son, DIL and grandkids. Son and DIL are at the Killers tonight and Greenday last night. We are babysitters.
Now granddaughter no 1 is either vegetarian or vegan (I get a death stare when I ask) and is at that age where she stays in her room contacting the real world only occasionally because she apparently lives with the most uncool parents who ever lived.
We didn't ask about a grandparents verdict and n case we got a Rhadamanthus judgement.
An occasion requiring a break from the virtual existence is a need for food but what to have. Grandad (me) is asked for a cheese and tomato pizza so the nearest place was this place. I haven't been in a Pizza Hut in very many years.
I really couldn't face all the palaver of going on line so I drove the 2 miles and the huge poster in their window has a two topping pizza for £9.99 so I used a card and paid £10.
I had a great chat with the friendly guy serving as he recognised my accent and told me he lived in Dundalk Ireland for over a year.
The piping hot pizza took 10 minutes time flew by and I've no doubt it is probably now fully consumed. We await an appearance from Granddaughter No 1 to confirm a full tummy but we won't hold our collective breath. The joys of being 21st century grandparents. read more
