Let me start by saying the one star given is generous.
Parking and getting seated were the only positives, everything after this was a disaster.
Firstly upon ordering one of the deals, the waitress returned three separate times to inform us that starters we had requested were not available. We were given a plate for a visit to the salad bar, they neglected to mention that they'd run out of everything.
After 40 or so minutes we'd just got stuck in to our cold, topping-less and doughy pizza, and asked how long the pasta dish we'd ordered would take. The answer we got from the supervisor was "Oh, didn't anyone tell you we don't have it." Rather rude/lazy on our waitress' part, so we ordered a second pizza for take away as part of the deal instead. By this time, we'd seen two separate parties complaining about the service with one waitress responding "I'm only on cover from another Pizza Hut but I'll agree this one is s###".
By this point we'd started to notice the trend of complaints. Another hour passes and upon enquiry, we are informed that our pizza was thrown away straight from the oven for some unknown reason and that the pizza would be 5-10 minutes. After another 45 minutes, we enquired about the second pizza again only to be told it had been forgotten about and that it would be made immediately by the waitress personally...who then walked straight back past us to stand around gassing with her mates.
Two and a half hours after we'd arrived, we requested the bill and complained about the wait and total lack of service. Half an hour after that we finally got the bill, being informed that we'd been given a discount as an apology - nice gesture but the altered bill was actually more expensive than the original! Eventually we were given a discount and opted not to complain further as the supervisor was grovelling to two parties who were complaining at the same time.
I know Pizza Hut has gone badly down hill in recent years but this was an absolute joke, particularly as this is now the main branch for Luton. Early weekend evenings are any restaurant's busy point so why would the manager not ensure that the branch is sufficiently stocked up.
If you're after Pizza Hut in Luton, go to the Dunstable Pizza Hut or try Papa Johns. read more
